My fiancee has an interview coming up in two weeks. Should we reschedule our interview date, until order is restored in Guangzhou and China? Does anyone know or experienced rescheduling an interview date? I'm trying to contact GUZ.

Has anyone experienced staying in hotels near the Consulate? The prices, and quality of rooms?

What time of the day did you go? In the morning or afternoon? I'm thinking if we went in on Thursday afternoon, will we get the results on Friday afternoon?

My fiancee has an interview on Monday May 12th. I will be arriving in GUZ on Thursday May 8 at 12:15pm. Can we do the medical exam Thursday afternoon and pay for the rush delivery and get the results on Friday? I think either Owen or Mick said they did the rush service. What's your take on our situation?

I would like to know if anyone has recently been back from China and their experiences at the POE.

My fiancee has been scheduled an interview for May 12th, and I was told by GZ that she will receive the visa the next day "if" she passes the interview. I couldn't believe my ears! Time for me to start making travel arrangements! Can anyone provide advice with the Shamien hospital near the Consulate for the medical exam? I've heard that we can have the results next-day for an increased fee, how much?

Wow that is very quick-around time. You must have said some "magic words". You can expect the background check to be at least 1 month, then another 2 months until the interview date, so around a total of 3 months. Good luck.

It's just a tug-of-war in the global economy. The US is trying to get back to the same economic level as the Asian economic markets. Look how much the dollar has dropped. Now with this media "outbreak", the Asian market has dropped steeply. We've experienced mad cow disease, bird flu, foot and mouth disease, etc. Now it's SARS. Yes SARS is a new deadly virus, but over exaggerated IMO. But this is just natural evolution, "survival of the fittest." This is not a political forum, so I'll leave it at that. If it was, I'll be going off on different tangents.

SARS is not good public exposure for us right now.

I want to be there as well to experience every moment of this process. This is a once in a lifetime experience and life is short. The interview is another small part of this memorable (and even unmemorable) journey that I want to experience with my fiancee. It doesn't hurt to be there anyway. And with the SARs issue, I must go with my fiancee now. I saw the post about the passport story; an ingenious proof of evidence. I also read about pictures with each other's future in-laws.

The most convincing evidence, if plausible, is for your fiance to accompany you to the interview. Although he can't enter the interview room, he can be there in case anything happens. I plan to accompany my fiancee to the interview, along with the bundles of evidence.

Name check clearance confirmed by GZ. They haven't told me yet when P4 will be sent out, but the clerk "guesstimated" within the middle of this month.

I called DOS today and the clerk told me that I should hear something from the GZ Consulate within a week. I couldn't believe what I heard, so I asked the clerk if that meant my fiancee's name check has cleared, and the clerk confirmed it has. I was so excited I forgot to ask the specific date it cleared. So I'm assuming that GZ should be sending P4 within a week. The clerk stated that if I don't hear anything from GZ, I should contact them. I will contact GZ next week to confirm this news. I'm still being cautious over this "good" news. If GZ confirms this, then I will be ecstatic.
