  1. Hey mods! could this be added to links and resources? I might be needing this in a few months.
  2. John that's interesting about bananas, haven't heard that. White Tea is the new in thing ingredient for cosmetics because of the antioxidents. Tony Yunnan has great Puu Er tea
  3. Carl is there a good place to eat near the Motel 6? Is it within walking distance of anything or is it isolated?
  4. http://www.metrotravelguide.com/hotelinfo/...ubAffiliateID=0 Is this info accurate? THe travel lodge is close to the BBQ, has a restaurant and within walking distance to shopping and stuff? According to this http://www.metrotravelguide.com/hotelinfo/...ubAffiliateID=0 Holiday in is near an outlet mall. I thought Oregon was portective of the environment. It has a nice looking breakfast and a shuttle for the airport. Unless someone thinks this ad is misrepresenting the place I may stay here. Come on Northerners help out your confused Southern Brother.
  5. Ok but is there a place to eat Saturday night at the Motel six? We are completely clueless here. Help please.
  6. Oh I see Portland is about 26 miles from CRG. Is that as the crow flies, the cabbie drives or the canoe glides? So the Travel Lodgeand Holiday Inn are the closest we can get to the BBQ/
  7. Ok we are foreigners in Portland. Would someone tell me which hotels in the list are near where we are having the BBQ? Is that in the Columbia River Gorge area? How far is halfway between downtown and CRG? In L.A. that could mean an hour away and a $50.00 taxi ride plus tip.
  8. Great recap Maui, Mahalo! I'd like to go over the questions but she says I make her nervous talking about so we wont talk about it with less than a month and counting. She says to believe in her and fate will decide. Ok I'm willing to do it the way that makes her feel best about it. After all she is the one being interviewed. So we will cast our fate to the wind. Artist: Vince Guaraldi Trio Song Lyrics: Cast Your Fate To The Wind [ print the lyrics ] [ more info ] A month of nights, a year of days Octobers drifting into Mays You set your sail when the tide comes in And you cast your fate to the wind You shift your course along the breeze Wont sail up wind on memories The empty sky is your best friend And you just cast your fate to the wind That time has such a way of changing a man throughout the years And now youre rearranging your life through all your tears Alone, alone There never was, there couldnt be A place in time for men to be Whod drink the dark and laugh at day And let their wildest dreams blow away So now youre old, youre wise, youre smart Youre just a man with half a heart You wonder how it might have been Had you not cast your fate to the wind Well I hope in our case fate has decided to cast us together. So far in our relationship it seems so. Next month could be the start of us chasing our dreams together.
  9. Here's a U.S. Chinese paper online http://www.canews.com/764/01_01.html This one is southern california http://www.chinesedaily.com/ I'd be interested to know what viewpoint this one is reporting. Could someone let us know that reads Chinese? http://www.worldjournal.com/wjindex.php
  10. Hey Jim, I think we've just been in training to deal with the heavy domestic stuff. I don't even want to think about it. After the visa approval I want to have two months of just being together before we start the next stage. After all once they get here DOS gives us a 90 day reprive don't they?
  11. Well we Californians don't expect a lift from here but when the place is settled could you post near by hotels to crash for the night and can someone give us lifts that would help. Airport on arrival to hotel/motel (hot water preferred), hotel/motel/youth hostel/card board box to BBQ, BBQ to airport. If this can be arranged between those with cars I think it would be a great help for us foreigners. Seems the foreign invasion is swelling are there enough lambs around portland for this or should I bring a few goats.
  12. This does apply since the question is whether you intend to support the applicant. This is the legal purpose of an affidavit of support. Just writing "K-1 applicant" probably is enough of an explanation. Failing to have someone agree to support the individual would cause rejection for lack of a sponsor if they actually read the form.
  13. I think the only thing on this line important for K visas is to check "I intend". I added "I will be responsible for all expenses from the time she enters the U.S. through marriage and approval of work authorization or until return to China" I figured that covered everything but I think they just want the box checked to establish legal obligation. If this were a lecture invitation or business arrangement specifics would be supplied.
  14. In the L.A. area there are many lawyers practicing in both California and China. The ones I have asked had to take law school and the bar exam. Enough credits should transfer from China to qualify for the two year prelaw education. Perhaps some schools will accept other credits for transfer. This is up to the school. Here is Loyola Law School's program http://lls.edu/academics/jdintro.html
  15. I like most fruits. Lychee (lizhi) are great. When we were on the Changjiang I enjoyed buying fruits at each stop. As we went southwest the fruits were more tropical. Near Chongqing they were selling bananas growing on the hills. I just finished dinner which was a fresh Durian and a plate of rambutan. Yummy Does anyone know that the only fruit tree native to the United States is the pawpaw. It is the northern most growing tropical tree in the world.
  16. Your tax return would suffice I would think. Do you submit anything else with the taxes like a 1099 or other verification?
  17. Gee now that cool. No more problems getting rid of used golf balls. "We're showing only technology that makes sense," said Dominique Facon, vice president for marketing at American Standard in Shanghai, as technicians demonstrated a toilet that easily handled 14 golf balls in one flush. And the solution comes from an American company, where we know our business.
  18. WWWWOOOOHHHOOOOO Wow talk about a short time for panic attack. Hey Jim how did he luck out to be over this so quick? Good luck we are rooting for you. I guess this makes us the CFL June grooms.
  19. here's the pick me up I like http://www.taoofherbs.com/products/107/Dis...singExtract.htm
  20. I guess I should have put this here If you visit L.A. pick some up from one of the little herb shops or scoop it from bins at the Wisconsin Ginseng store. Here is info: http://www.ginsengboard.com/ All you ever wanted to know about Ginseng http://www.wisfinest.com/ get a real American ptoduct "Ginseng chew" and kick tobacco. http://www.hsuginseng.com/ try the honeied slices, yum http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/afcm/ginseng.html interested in growing ginseng? http://feingold.senate.gov/~feingold/speec...2004527724.html Congress must protect the Wisconsin ginseng! Buy the roots and make your own elixer home brew
  21. Looks like you got your answers Jim. The bank letter I have simply states my balance, the date and when the account was opened. It is signed by an officer of the bank. When I asked about the letter I was referred to a legal office of the bank. They stated they do not do these. It turns out most banks don't. THe lawyer even laughed saying the feds always ask for forms that are not available but they hope to get them anyway. Luckily I have known the Operations Manager since she was a teller. She knew what I needed because she once needed the same for a relative. Anyway, she wrote me a letter giving the info available to her. Who says it isn't who you know in America
  22. Was there anything listing all the required items like in the missing document? If you have the appointment info and the list then that should be the same. I don't know if that form was in it or not, but she didn't mention it.
