  1. That will teach me to open my big Mouth Be prepared us out of towners have big mouths too. How many lambs is Trigg going to butcher for this shindig?
  2. I thought I'd copy the current list here. We should have Jason, Jim & Jennifer, Phil & Ningning, Steve & Amy and Dan & Ping Still possible are Carl & Hongyu, Mark & Danny, Steven & Xueling and Scott & Lai. Is there more we are missing here? I know there are others from California so shout out. Too bad we can't search members by location. Many members don't make it down to the last forum.
  3. Thanks Don and I hope you will. Trigg actually San Luis Obispo is in the central hills of California.

  5. Ok fellow Californians it is official. Don is letting us appear in the Culture and Language Forum. We are moving up from the bottom in Contact List. We will be meeting August 27 & 28 in San Luis Obispo. So far it appears we will be at the Best Western Somerset if they have enough rooms for us. So pencil this into your sschedules and plan on doing more than lunch.
  6. We don't get no respect. Don we are only trying to keep the Californians contained to LL and Contact List by directing our brothers and sisters south. Wouldn't want to be wandering where we aren't wanted. On the other hand that might limit our wandering area and you know how we stray here
  7. Carl try starting with this site http://www.sachinese.org/links.php Maybe you can get some phone numbers through these or cross checking the group names in the phone book.
  8. Living near to L.A. I would have a hard time avoiding a Chinese community. The last figures I saw were 160,000 from Taiwan 200,000 from China and 90,000 from Hong Kong. The cities of Monterey Park, Alhambra, San Gabriel, Rosemead and Hacienda Heights have few businesses with English only signs. In fact more have Chinese only. So if you want to buy Chinese books, dvds, jewelry, buddhist or taoist alters or goods of almost every sort and buy a car from the chinese dealer, open a Chinese bank account, need a Chinese lawyer or real estate agent drop on over. While your here we can get together at whatever style Chinese Restaurant you like.
  9. The red ginseng is a heat not for people with high blood pressure, heart problems or liver dysfunction and never during fever. White ginseng (Bai Ren Shen) is balancing and cooling. The two have different purposes. At a natural healing resort white ginseng served with bok choy was a special dish for over all health. Tian Ma or gastrodia rhizome and horsechestnut are herbs used for high blood pressure. They dilate the the vessels while taking pressure off the heart. American dietary supplements and herb capsules are very much appreciated in China.
  10. Go ahead blame the Californians! But we'll be back!
  11. Oooo! Oooo! I know!! I know! please please call on me!! Oooo~! Ooooo!OO! (my best Arnold Horeshack impression). Yes Arnold would you please tell the class.
  12. Wow what an excuse to visit China twice in a couple weeks. Congratulations. Now retrace your steps over the past two weeks and determine what the magic good luck charm was that brought it. Then post it so all can find the holy grail. Did you pick up a four leaf clover, Rub the Buddha tummy, ring a temple bell, give alms to a beggar? Come on share!
  13. 139.00 per night weekend rates. Me thinks wifey would be upset-she is very cheap-I mean frugal In my neighborhood Trigg we call that smart. Did you mean to post that in the Polls and Surveys thread?
  14. Jason I figure we will end up either in the mountains, in the ocean or spending the night at the BBQ site. They've still got wilderness up there. Carl that place sounds like a great meal. But if we do justice to that Saturday night I doubt we could eat much lamb......... OOOOhhhhh I get it.
  15. Sorry but I just need to know if that was a public toilet.
  16. I agree with you. For a high class gift I stop at Incheon Airport and pick up the Red Ginseng products. Expensive but a really nice gift of the top product.
  17. With only saturday afternoon and sunday morning free I'm just looking at getting to meet my fellow CFLers and enjoying lamb BBQ in the park. Maybe after checking into the hotel I'd like to take MAX across the city for a look. Maybe a nice dinner. Is there a local style place? Perhaps seafood?
  18. Are the thongs all red? I agree for the smooth hang of the skirt a thong is best. Less chance of having panty lines especially with the new microfibers and if you avoid the rhinestone studs.
  19. Is it 5 days left? Ok take a deep breath and repeat after me Ooooooooohhhhhhhhmmmmm Bbbbbblllllluuuuuuueeeeee Tttttthhhhhhiiiinnnngggggiiiieeeeee Oooooooohhhhhhhmmmmmm Bbbbbbblllllluuuuuueeeee Tttttthhhhhhiiiiiiinnnnnggggggiiiiieeeee Ooooooooohhhhhhhhmmmmmm Bbbbbbbbblllllluuuuuuuueeeee Tttttthhhhhhhiiiiinnnnggggggiiiieeeee See you can't keep the tension when you practice the way of the blue thingie.
  20. "way way (waaay) on the east side " maybe we should have a downloadable map so us outatowners don't get lost in the woods.
  21. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! Wow now you get to vist SSA and DOS as well as start driving lessons
  22. We had discussed getting a Driver's license in China first but she has decided against it. Since she is inexperienced in China and the practices are different on the road, it seemed learning in China would create blocks to doing it correctly here. Also China speeds are much slower and passing rules etc not the same. So she is willing to wait for the license to learn the American way. Also when visiting China neither of us has need to know Chinese driving laws as there is no need to drive.
  23. By the way John, have you read the thread "Californians Unite" in the Contact List forum? There is a meetup planned for August in San Luis Obispo.
  24. The little pressed bowls of tea I have that is one of my favorites is Toucha Pu Erh According to its different processing methods, Pu-erh tea can be divided into three groups: Pu-erh special tea, Pu-erh green tea and Yunnan black tea. It also can be classified into two types by its shape: Pu-erh compressed tea and loose tea. It is the county where the best teas are grown. The unusual thing is that these teas are aged. The flavor changes witth age. Like cheese each tea maker has starter culture that gives the special taste. It varies greatly.
