  1. They are mostly interested in the current matters. They might make an issue about 2003 but will be more interested in what is happening this year. What about your pay receipt records like check copies. The bank may have these printable on the internet for you. Bank statements for the past 6 months would support the bank letter and provide the balance. Do you have a letter of employment from the current employer? All of this would over come the 2002 tax report. Do include 2002. If you leave gaps they could ask for more evidence requiring another interview. Better to include it and give current evidence described above to show how your finances improved. Good luck!
  2. It wasn't for revenge over Hiroshima. That was done long ago when The Japanese Car manufacturers dealt a blow in the home market against Detroit automakers. Will we ever regain face? Yakuza are for hire, so just one more blow by Al Qaida. However there is the theory that Katrina was created virtually by Microsoft. By destroying a tourist meca like New Orleans they hoped to get the rebuild contract. Then create the first truely virtual city. All the greats of Jazz will play there forever and Andrew Jackson will guard the city with his calvalry. This was made possible by the new MS technology that allows the virtual characters to play with the real world.
  3. I think you are right Jesse. It is their litmus test because they have little else to base refusal on unless a police report turns up or they have what turns out to be valid third party info.
  4. Lee go to your local store. No time left for online orders even if you pay the premium for overnight delivery. When I travel I take my aromatherapy oils with me. I did get sick on one trip. By making fennel "tea" three times a day using the fennel oil It didn't interfere with the trip as cramps and the rest were greatly reduced and in 4 days it cleared up. Lavendar Oil is good for cuts, scrapes, infection and bites. Wintergreen reduces and clears up allergic reactions.

Lee you are having scarey thoughts during count down. What you suggest would leave little chance for non servants of GUZ in waiting.
  6. But... but... Jim I love Pitan. I like it in rice gruel or with duck and preserves or by itself as a snack in soy and sesame oil. Yummy those eggs are good. My SO is quick to go to the Doctor both Western and Chinese. The antibiotics she took were with a narcotic. She likes the ones that knock you out and you wake up better. I prefer the milder treatments. By the way the antibiotic was imported from England. It is not available in the U.S.
  7. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/xw/t187211.htm This is the Chinese governments position on dual citizenship. It has been discussed before in threads. No dual citizenship and loss of all rights and benefits of the ID, citizeenship, Hukou etc is a reason many have thought about each spouse retaining their citizenship and each getting residency in the other's country. I think this gains the most advantages for the couple in both countries. It just requires annual trips back and forth which many do anyway.
  8. This is the stuff that revolutions have been based on. VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!!!! How about if we hire a sky writer to fly over the Consulate writing "Government for the people Let Alex's SO go!" Since when did this become the "Government of the well connected, By the Politically favored and for the Civil Servants Benefit"? If this situation did not make me mad I'd think it was a bad joke. Good Luck and keep plugging.
  9. The ID card is not needed here. The passport with I-94 will serve although the ID card does give her a second form of identification that is sometimes required. She can lwabve it with the friend but will want it later for things such as passport renewal or other activities when in China.
  10. YIIIPPPPEEEEEEEE disclaimer: This yipee should not in anyway be interpreted as an infringement on the Official CFL Yahooer
  11. I would first call the airline for the terminal and transfer information. If the flights are in different terminals you have no chance of making the transfer. Security check makes that impossible. If they are the same terminal and the airline will get you through security since you are in transit, you have a chance. Speak with the airline about it. Delta and China Southern being codeshare partners might make it workable. If you don't like being under intense pressure I would recommend changing flights. Good luck
  12. Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful future together.
  13. YIPEEEEEEEE (not to be confusded with the official Yahoo) Congratulations now begin the life of an ordinary couple. I wish you all the best.
  14. Interested in representing CFL Trigg? 30 years ago there were many books in Japan warning travelers going to the west not to publicly urinate and not to walk outside their hotel room in the evening in their underwear. The coverage like this shows that many are aware of needs to change to meet international standards and gain respect abroad. As China becaomes more and more of an international player things will change. These things will also change first among the educated and those dealing outside China then syphon down the socio-economic ladder.

Well my Mental Abilitays areer lcacking too?? So I am a bad persona? 154940[/snapback] Gee as a former teacher I'd rather deal with a dumbass any day rather than a smart ass. But what does this have to do with Mike's mental ability? That's in the head isn't it? At work we have a no nickname policy because of things like this. People call someone a nickname like skinny or fatty for a couple years then the irritation breaks out into a fight. Nicknaming is to tag an identity. Unfortunately the VOs do not give their names. They interview Chinese who have a hard time with western names anyway. So the nicks arise. We aren't going to stop it. What we can do is to stop trying to type the VOs by the little info we get. What good does it do to know the VO is tough or easy? We send in our SOs with what they have accumulated and together we assembled to present as an argument for the visa. The track record shows no matter who is the VO the majority of CFLers pass because of good preparation. Most that don't face additional time but mostly overcome to get the visa. Lets continue to focus on the objective.
  16. Welcome, I see Lee beat us to the punch. The documents are easy. Just follow the instructions that are with them. Any questions you have there are many here who have already done it. So ask as you go. Don't worry over it. The hard part is the dang blasted waiting. Pull up a chair get comfortable and read through the posts. Join in any time you like. Don't mind the grizzled old timers like Don and Trigg. They are just good ol folk who suffered through the battle with obvious scars . You are a goat man aren't you?
  17. English as a Decond Language (ESL) classes are probably what she needs. Check the local HS for adult classes or at the nearest community college. Some programs are free.
  18. Sometimes fashion can be used to change the culture. Metal buttons on dress jacket sleeves started with military uniforms. They are decorative not used to close anything. The problem was that men's sleeves would become sodden with snot from wiping noses. It was the custom but was not nice on military dress uniforms. A row of buttons made it uncomfortable to say the least. It then became fashionable on all dress jackets to keep that unsodden look at parties. Myself, I have not been able to master the graceful technique of placing one finger to the nose and expelling the bugger adroitly to the street or floor. But this custom may pass into history. After all, if the French could teach the English to use a fork (about 1200) and the Chinese introduce toilet paper to the west (1820's) and Japan introduce facial kleenex to America (1846) Chinese customs can change too. Although an American missionary Bernard Bettleheim reported the custom of tissues to blow the nose, he reported what a filthy habit it was compared to using the handkerchief. It took about 40 years to actually introduce the idea which did not come into popularity until the 1940's. I remember almost all older men in the 50's using handkerchiefs. By the way isn't it interesting that westerners learned the toilet paper thing from the Chinese yet in China I had to bring my own. Humans are very amusing people.
  19. At the market I had mooncake made with hawthorn or black plum (not sure but it had that smokey taste the black plum drinks have) and boy was that ever good. The problem is they are so sweet you can only eat a few bites.
  20. Maybe they are trying to protect the fledgling mooncake industry here.
  21. There's nothing like having a good day. It's always good to hear things went right for someone. Keep it coming
