  1. Hi Missingyou, We sent out ours and received at lockbox May 28th ,,so we will see how long it takes...Have not seen the checks cashed yet though. Ling and Twin boys..will give USCIS some money... Tom and Ling
  2. Hi areynolds, You should try and make ACH on Monday, and try to have documents notarized at ACS also on a monday. I took 10 days off for my wife's interview. When ever the interview is, when she passes ...the usual time to obtain the passport is two days...when everything goes well. Also China Southern has nice prices from Guz to LAX. Tom and Ling
  3. Hi yvrsyd and All, Here is my story with a Civil Surgeon in North Carolina. I have a wife and two step-sons...... At the medical in Guz,,Wife got a chest x-ray and the two boys did not. Why not the two boys,,good question , maybe age or something else. Ok,,so I knew we need the I-693 filled out, but K3/K4 are to have just the immunizations filled out. They already have their medical exams. But everyone has been talking about the new TB requirements and so I asked the nurse about this. What she told me,,was that the TB test was in the exam section of the I-693 and since Ling and the boys did not need an exam that the only thing that would be filled out would be the immunization record. So,,what happens now??....I have no Clue. The nurse said the she would fill out what they called the supplemental...will this be alright...I don't know and if it is not ..I guess I will be getting an RFE for their TB skin test. also, even though Ling has a clear chest X-ray,,she would still have to have a TB skin test first...does not make much Sense since if her skin test was positive...she could then use her X-ray as proof that she was clear of TB. So,, My AOS is submitted for Ling and the boys,,and at worst..expecting RFE for TB skin test. Cost if we get RFE's...$25.00 for each skin test and $40.00 for each X-ray Tom and Ling
  4. I think your missing the point of preparation; who's responsibility is it (or dare I say 'burden') to prove the relationship? Your missing the easy solution: EMAIL HER MORE. The other solution is as I often say about financials; if they ask for employer letter, or I-134 or taxes, have a "financial folder" prepared; hand the whole thing over with easy markings as to each item. Let the VO take what they want... David is absolutely right............ But here is another thing that people seem to be forgetting... Ling and I had between us (Letters written to each other) and sent by snail mail. I think it is very important in this age of everything so fast..e-mail, instant messenger, phone,,,that couples take the time to write love letters to each other....just my opinion but this is another aspect that is over looked. By taking the time to hand write a letter to your wife/or husband and sending by snail mail you are doing something that is really necessary. Although, the snail mail letters were never asked for at Lings interview...I also addressed the letters in my Letter of Evolution of Relationship. Just another thought to throw out....... They don't necessarily have to be "Love Letters", but these letters show that you are taking the time to write... and also shows that the Chinese spouse can atleast translate English letters..... 5. Hi David and ALL, The way I handled this topic "Another thread could be written on this subtle issue alone" is that I took an updated Letter of Evolution of Marital Relationship and had it Notarized at ACS,,and I still think that they scanned the letter. At Lings interview I folded the updated Letter of Evolution of Marital Relationship long wise and placed it in my Passport that Ling was to hand to the VO. Now the VO is not obligated to read the letter, but I think our VO was curious and pulled it out and read it. This is one way of offering the Letter of Evolution at the interview and another way maybe to have things notarized at ACS. I also had my I-134 notarized at ACS and they never asked to see the I-134,,so I think they scanned my notarized papers at ACS and didn't ask for them because they knew about my I-134...just my feeling. 6. I agree 100%...The money could be the real issue. Tom and Ling
  7. Hi Don and Everyone, We don't know what timeline he has... Short courtship.,,,What is a Short courtship?? Ling and I married on my first visit to China. We married 4 to 5 days after my arrival. But I'll also say that I put this in my Evolution of Relationship letter that I filed with USCIS. "Short relationship before visiting to meet fiancee"..since I don't know his timeline is it short?? I know Randy and the others are right...He has to address the revocation letter. I will say that Ling and I did have a wedding banquet...... and plenty of pictures of the wedding banquet... I think Randy is right about the pure BS but I would like to see his timelines...... Tom and Ling
  8. Hi Henry and Mei, I was told by someone from CFL that if the package from NVC was under 3 lbs. the package would not stay in customs that long. My package was only 1 lb. and was given to Guz almost immediately. **See my time line** I was told that over 3 lbs it would be in customs delay. Tom and Ling
  9. Same here, but in our case the medical staff stapled the photo's to the DS-156's. I just took the photo's to the medical exam in a plastic bag. It probably doesn't matter.......... Tom and Ling
  10. Hi mpqw, Everyone has given you good advice and I am sure that more DCF's will chime in. How long are you planning on working in China?? Two things to be aware of is ,,make sure you file a US tax return every year that you work in China,,seems to be a common mistake working abroad and not filing a US Tax return. and you need to keep a US address or residence in the US or with parents. I have filed DCF for my 2nd wife but she was Russian and it was allot easier in 2000 but not much has changed and DCF is the way to go if you can do it. Tom and Ling PS Welcome to CFL.......
  11. Why wouldn't you go? Many travel half way around the world to go there at great expense. You only have to travel a short distance to show your support. I second this question. Why wouldn't you go, or even for a second consider not going when you are right here in China already? I 'third' this question. You are already in-country !? The USC petitioner, close by in the coffee shop, and your USA passport in her little hand, will have a lot more impact, than her "mom" waiting in the coffee shop. IMO. I wouldn't have missed this event for anything !!! I fourth this question,,I travel from North Carolina and spent 10 days in China for my wife's interview ,,,and would do it again in a heart beat. I enjoyed China................ Tom and Ling
  12. Hi Jim, I am 63 years old and my wife is 37 years old...I don,t believe your age is a factor. About the sentence translator....You get what you pay for. When I went to China for the first time..we were adviced to buy the best and our sentence translator cost $300.00 USD. We have never had any problems with translation. It is the type of translator that Ling could write in Chinese on the screen. I don't know why your attorney told you to request an English speaking VO..that was stupid,,however all the VO's are english speaking and than some are good at Chinese speaking and some are not. Don't request the interview in English ,,they will allow the interview in Chinese. Tom and Ling
  13. Randy is right....If you are filing an I-130 and part D question 2 asks "Did you ever file for this alien before: if yes name place and result?",,you are going to have to answer with K1 and denial. If you leave it blank, and they caught you that could permanently keep you from filing again. Your bro has to answer the same since his K1 was denied. "2. Have you ever before filed a petition for this or any other alien?" If "Yes," give name, place and date of filing and result. Since I filed an I-130 for Ling since we were married...my answer was that I had filed for my 2nd ex-wife and her two children. In your case...you have filed a petition (I-129F) and it was denied. Tom and Ling
  14. Hi Jim, This is approximately what I put in my "Evolution of Relationship" when I filed the I-129f and than at ACS before my wife's interview I made another up dated "Evolution of Martial Retaionship". This was for the Explanation of the English::: "We bought an electronic sentence translator in the beginning to help our communication but now only use it when detailed questions are asked. It is note worthy that Ling and I could even at first meeting communicate in simple English. This was because Ling had a fair grasp of written English that she could understand me. For communication we use a combination of spoken English, written English on a note pad and for detailed questions an electronic translator". I also think it is important that you attend her interview if at all possible. This is an overcome situation which may not require another interview, however if another interview is required,,than my feeling would be that you should attend...just my opinion. Also at ACS and ACH I told the VO's that my wife was nervous and wanted her interview in Chinese...so take it for what it is worth. Tom and Ling
  15. HI jaybird, This comes from the Instructions of the I-693 A. K-1 fianc¨¦(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fianc¨¦(e), or as a B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen, a. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693instr.pdf You should print out the Instructions and take them with you. These people are just trying to get a full exam out of you. One thing that is a requirement is a TB skin test and if that is positive than they will want a Chest Xray. Based on the diameter of the skin test,,I don't see any way of getting out of the chest Xray. Larger than 5mm in diameter. Tom and Ling
  16. Hi Jim, It may have all depended on the VO that did the interview. My wife's english was not so great but I covered her fair English in the Letter of Evolution of Relationship. My wife has Twin sons and our marriage was 8 months from when I met her online to when I went to China to marry her. So I am not convinced that your 6 months plus her English were the red flags. I think Randy is right..In that it is probably the relationship with her ex-husband. Or some combination of these things. Did you fly to China for her interview?? Have you sent her money for support?? Just give them what they want...atleast it was blue, and good luck... Tom and Ling
  17. Hello, shutterbug is right ...Just looked at Ling and the boys birth certificates and they are as shutterbug says............ They are written as""father's name is ***"/"mother's name is ***" .. Tom and Ling
