  1. Hi Ericka, If I were you in the future, I would not have your husband carry around his green card. This is an important document and I would have him keep the GC at home. All he needs is a driver's license. The US is not a police state that requires having a CG on you at all times....so be aware that wallets are stolen. I am not going to have Ling or the boys carring around their GC,,on their persons. Having fun in Hawaii?? Tom and Ling
  2. Hi Jim, Others will chime in, but to give an idea ...What was the overcome documents they wanted?? The wait can be any where from 1 to 3 months,,depending on what was requested...so give us an idea ..."What was the overcome evidence they requested"?? Tom and Ling
  3. I sence confusion. An American can live in China for some time lets sat MORE than 6 months, sometime during that 6 months or even after living there for a year or so, he meets a nice lady and decides to marry, they marry and then immediately file the I-130 DCF. Their marriage can be weeks old when filing the I-130, what matters is that the US Citizen has been living in China longer than 6 months, the marriage doe not need to be older than 6 months to file. I see your point,,but the young gentleman has to have lived in China for atleast 6 months and than he during this time meets a nice young lady and they marry after him living there for 3 months and than files for DCF after 6 months....I see what you are getting at,,however in his time line he put married in 02/2010 and file DCF 03/2010...and he has only lived there for 2 months. Tom and Ling I think he's got plenty of time between now and 2/2010 to figure it out. Hi Randy..........yes he does..... Tom and Ling

I am not seeing the whole picture of his living in China...so yes the confusion is gone..... Go marry the young lady as long as you have resided in China for 6 months... Tom and Ling
  5. Nope, not living together or married for 6 months, just the US citizen needs to be residing in the consular district for 6 months. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/cr...and_cr2/ir2.htm But ..to be able to file an I-130, one has to be married and to file DCF one has to reside in in China for 6 months.....so I would think that both conditions have to apply?? 6. Hi Missingyou, Every field office maybe different, but for Biometrics,,when we entered the building. The appointment letters needed to be opened along with the passport of the individual with the appointment. Than we went into a room called support center and the Guy in charge had a form to be filled out for each appointment letter. the form consisted of just general things: Height, weight, SS# if one, A number, etc. The funny thing the form wanted mother's first name and Father's first name.... After filling out forms. They were taken to be photographed and finger printed. No relationship questions or anything,,just photographs and finger printeds, and that was it. Although...I had all my documents out in the Car in case they pulled a fast one on me.......... Tom and Ling
  7. That was also my understanding. Here's my projected timeline: 11/2008 - Met online 01/2009 - Met in Hangzhou (pictures from my Camera and her phone; her phone pictures have date stamp) 02/2009 ~ 07/2009 - Long distance, talk every day (Skype call records/QQ chat logs) 08/2009 - I fly to Hangzhou, propose (more of a formality; she's told me she will accept) 09/2009 ~ 12/2009 - Meet on weekends (She lives in Wuhan, I study in Hangzhou) 12/2009 ~ 01/2010 - Travel China with her (Shanghai, 3 gorges dam, Tibet if we can, meet family, etc) 02/2010 - Get married, Spring fest with familyif getting maried 02/2010 than DCF 6 months later would be 08/2010. 03/2010 ~ 05/2010 - Live together in Hangzhou 03/2010 - File DCF would have to be 08/2010..... . Then, when DCF goes through, return to the USA together From what I've seen, income requirement is 125% of poverty line (and where it's actually 100% of poverty line, they still like at least 125%). I have multiple family members willing to cosponsor, and each well above the requirement. How do cosponsors affect the outcomes? Do CIS or GUZ look down upon need of a cosponsor? You guys continue to be incredibly helpful. I can't express enough how much I do appreciate it. Tom and Ling
  8. Hi potato, Question 1.) Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel #33 Shamian North Street, Shamian Island, Guangzhou Tel: (020) 81219500 or 81219513 Price: RMB800 for adult, RMB500 for child This Health Center is good and can do same day processing, but for same day processing....we paid 100RMB extra, I think though you need to be at this place as early as possible ,,at 8:00am because you don't get the results until 4:00pm. Don't try and cut it close. You can also go in the morning one day and pick up the results next day...but stiil do not cut it close. Question 2.) for the DS-156, DS-157 you have to fill out these forms,,not the medical center. I would say they have to be filled out in both Chinese and English. At our medical...they were more concerned with the forms being filled out in Chinese. I only filled out in English,,and at the interview they sent Ling down stairs to fill them out in Chinese....so be aware that these forms need to be filled out both in Chinese and English and BY YOU. Question 3.) dnoblett is right,,however, no matter what Visa,,having the Vaccinations done in China will save money in the long run...unless you have a health department here in the US that will charge next to nothing. Question 4.) dnoblett is right. Ling's visa arrived 1 and a half days after her interview. Ling's interview on a Thursday and we picked it up Saturday morning (Ling's interview wasn't over until 4:00pm because of some mix ups)... But I would not count on 2 day turn around, like dnoblett has said there have been people that have waited much longer for their Visa. However, there are inexpensive hotels near the US Consulate. 9. Hi Everyone, Well, at 8:00am I took Ling and the boys in for their Biometrics Appointments. Ling had only the I-485 and each one of the boys had I-485 and the I-765 appointment letters. It only took ling and the boys 20 minutes total to complete everything and the people there were extremely professional.... I have gone to the Charlotte Field Office for my second wife and her kids and the old Charlotte Field Office was always a ZOO.... What can I say about the Raleigh Field Office....its is a pleasure doing business there. It has been opened for only about 2 years,,but the Raleigh Field Office is super.......and it is only 10 minutes down interstate 40 from where I live. All I can say is that anyone in NC that is in the Raleigh area will be pleased with the whole place. Now we will see if we have an interview for the 2 year GC or whether they will wait for the 10 year GC. Tom and Ling
  10. The point the others are making is that the K-3 visa is alive and a viable option.Yes, it is a viable option. Your personal circumstances may be such that you would want to consider a K-3, as have others. Dan puts a lot of energy into "selling" (my word here) CR-1's over K-3. Yessss he does,,,,,,,,,, Tom and Ling
  11. Hi nandj, Besides the poor English which I will say counts for something,,Ling's English was only fair. In our Evolution of Relationship Letter I defined our Communication as this: Ling speaks fair English, we use a notebook to write questions out in English, and when detailed questions are asked, we use a sentence Translator....and than for the interview I requested that the interview be given in Chinese because my wife was nervous. Your wife's poor English may have counted somewhat against her but you mentioned that the VO didn't believe "That her divorce was real." Seems that this was the major problem?? Tom and Ling
  12. Hi nandj, I don't think it was those there things............. It sounds like you gave the answer to your blue slip by poor english, but what the ""The lady that interviewed my wife did not believe anything she said and also did not believe her divorce was real. They also requested contact information for her ex.""" Tom and Ling
  13. Hi steveandrong, Jin is right.....Take Xray to radiologist. Because China gives the BCG vaccination the TB skin test will usually come out positive. The Chest Xray is the most reliable...If chest Xray is Clear than I would not take the treatments . I have hear the treatments are harsh. If you have any concerns about,, a positive TB skin test and a clear chest Xray...than consult your regular family doctor or the health department in your area. My second wife was from Kazakhstan and her daughter had a positive skin test and a clear chest Xray and she opted to not have the treatments because of the known harshness. One of the other points is sometimes the skin tests are not given the correct way and can come out positive, and also how the skin test is read. So the chest Xray is the most reliable. I (personally) would consult my family doctor. Hope this helps. Tom and Ling
  14. Hi Jimi, Like everybody else is asking...How old is the daughter?? Tom and Ling

  16. B) congratulations Jimi, Tom and Ling
  17. Hi Sebastian, The wife of a US citizen can apply for Citizenship after three years from the time of legal permanent residence. It however takes about 1 year from applying to getting US Citizenship. Total Time to become a US Citizen is about 4 years. My second wife did this and became a US Citizen in 4 years. CR-1 IR-1 doesn't make any difference,,it is amount of permanent residence in the US and married to a US Citizen. What heyjimi does depends on how old the daughter was when they got married, but since he is not K visa,,it maybe that his wife will have to become a US Citizen. Tom and Ling
  18. Congrats on the pink !!! Tom and Ling
  19. Hi nandj, I doubt it was your 6 months that is the red flag and resulted in a Blue slip because Ling and I married only 7 months after knowing each other. I would say it was a combination of poor English and them not believing her son was not her's. What ever gave them that idea?? You need to put a timeline up in your signature file and enter your timeline. Others have gone through a blue slip in GUZ not believing a child is the mothers.Atleast you got a blue rather than white. Tom and Ling
  20. Hi curtlives, I have been through Minneapolis Minnesota and the lines were long, but you can go through with her. When Ling and the boys came to the US, we went through LAX and it was a breeze...except for one thing. We didn't fill out all the forms that were requested so we were sent back to a table to fill out some more forms. So we got in line, when we got to the Immigration officer, he said that we didn't fill out all the forms needed, so we lost our place in line, and went back to fill out more forms, and than had to get back at end of line. The Immigration officer doesn't ask that many questions and takes the envelope that GUZ prepared and sends you on your way. At LAX you pick up your bags after seeing the Immigration officer, But it was a breeze,,maybe someone who has gone through Chicago can chime in, but I would expect that they are all the same. Tom and Ling
  21. Hi Roger, Congradutions......... Unfortunately, we will only get the two year GC since our two year anniversary will be March 6, 2010. I had a choice of doing the AOS now (which I did) or waiting to apply for AOS after our two year anniversary. Since if I had waited, Ling and the boys medical exams would have been over a year.....The medical exams would have cost about $600.00 so I opted for filling AOS early and than lifting conditional residence. It was really six of one and a half dozen of the other...... I am planning on adopting the boys after two years, since as you say your daughter will become a US Citizen, and so will the boys. They are also 13 years old, but turning 14 in july. Tom and Ling
  22. Hi AmericanRooster, This happened to Ling and myself on Ling's interview day to. I had all the forms filled out in English. Ling got in line and an hour later she came down to the coffee shop extremely up-set. She told me that the forms also needed to be filled out in Chinese. Fortunately we had time and filled them out in Chinese and was able to finish her interview that day. And this was for her and the two boys. If ling had a mop, she would have used it on me. There was something about the telegraphic codes too....but all was fixed............ This was back in November 20th 2008. Tom and Ling
  23. Hi TaijiMonkey, I Will be interested in your timing, Ling and I are three weeks behind you and our biometrics are set for the 25th of June. I however received 7 NOA's for a total of 14 NOA's since I also filed G-28's for each of the applications........ So we will see what happens........... Hope you don't get an interview.....or maybe you do want an interview.. Tom and Ling
