  1. Thanks this info really helps now i am going to call the agent and have her book it matching the passport Yes, that's what some do, carry a copy of marriage cert to show name change, to explain the difference between name on passport and green-card. Other problems some do run into, is travel during period when removing conditions, the green-card looks to have expired, and the exit authority or airline has problems understanding that the I-751 extension letter serves as a green-card, in those cases when traveling, it is advisable to visit a USCIS field office (INFO-PASS) and get an I-551 endorsement stamp in passport before travel. When my wife traveled to China last year all she had was passport and green-card, we forgot to have copy of marriage cert, she had no problems.
  2. So you guys did not change or even notate her passport? after i had posted this question my wife told me she heard from her sites that people are taking their marriage cert to prove the name and using that i dont want to have to do more work than needed, so if i dont have to notate it i wont' It involves visiting the Chinese consulate having jurisdiction over where you live, and they will place an AKA notation in the passport. Visit the consulate in L.A. I would not worry much about this, my wife is on her second Chinese passport since immigrating to the USA, it still shows her maiden name, she has been back to China since immigrating, we simply book airfare using passport name, and she simply shows green-card to Chinese exit authorities proving she can enter the USA, and the US POE is only concerned with a valid green-card upon arrival. My wife is in the process of becoming a US Citizen, so when she does become a US Citizen, the next passport will have her married name in it.
  3. what is the procedure for changing my wifes name on her chinese passport to match her greencard where she has taken my name the travel agent said she would need to do this to reenter the US after her trip to china? I am near the chinese consulate in LA but need to know what to do about it
  4. Ok so she made a mistake in reading it now we find out it doesnt expire till MAY not march lol .....lot less to worry about now ..

  7. My wife's 2 years GC is expiring in march and she wants to go to china for chinese new year but is wondering how long before it expires can she renew it so that we dont have to risk it expiring while she is out of the coutry. Any ideas on this ?
  8. We just moved across town to a new apartment for cheaper rent what do we need to file to inform the uscis and who else do we notify???
  9. We went to the emerald palace for dim sum today we liked it alot it was really good and not to expensive got out for just under 40 for both of us...we went to another place yesterday night called Peking restaurant which is on university close to the san diego zoo it was pretty good having a great weekend
  10. my wife is from guangzhou but grew up in fujian and as for budget we dont want to spend a ton of money maybe $40 tops
  11. Hey anybody know any really good Chinese restaurants in San Diego we are driving down there for our anniversary this week and i wanted to find somewhere really good
  12. One year in the states yesterday on July 30th, very exciting coming up on our wedding anniversary.
  13. That is a good idea my wife sells goods that her family back in china sends to us via dhl shipping and she is very successful at 5 different farmers markets per week. it is alot of fun for her and she gets out to talk to people all you have to make sure that you do is to get a resale permit so she can pay taxes on the sales. the permit is free to get so dont pay anyone for it and that way she can see the demand for her products before she gets stuck in any amount of a lease which if she gets discouraged then she may try to walk away from a short lease after a short time ....we find that the fun chinese stuff we have is best when in the market atmosphere as most people dont search for stores of it but when they come across us they love our stuff.....lol
  14. We finally got the green card after almost 4 weeks waiting from the approval letter. finally now to worry about the citizen stuff soon as we are allowed what are the time lines as far as filing for citizenship and the steps
  15. my wifes family send us stuff adn we sell it at some markets with the use of a simple sellers permit you can get through the state but you need to pay taxes on the sales according to the state level of sales tax so selling and importing is not a prob for us but we pay taxes on it
