  1. since our daughter is only 18, will she need to bring a single certificate to the interview? will she need to bring her mother's birth certificate? thanks all!
  2. i believe that the ds-156 is only to be filled out electronically when applying for a visitors visa.
  3. you didnt get the vaccinations and yellow book in china ? yes, we had this done in china and then i mailed copies of the vaccination records to dr. arnold, who transribed the info to the sealed i-693.
  4. How do you know the TB test was done in Guz? We have the little medical exam books, but I don't see anything in these books regarding a TB test (and we got the standard exam). Also, a TB test requires more than one day doesn't it? When our son got his TB test, they did a skin test, and the results were returned 2 or 3 days later. honestly, i dont know for sure but its my understanding thats the tb test is part of the exam. if the skin reaction is more than 5mm, then they take an xray to be sure tb is not present. they did take an xray. i turned in the aos paperwork on 10-20-08 and so far have not received an rfe.
  5. i live in georgia and my wife has a chinese dl. when we went to the dmv we were told she could legally drive for 30 days with her chinese dl. every state may be different but this is what we were told. good luck.
  6. stay at the yangs if you have low standards for cleanliness and if you can keep a watchful eye on your valuables. here is a link to my experience while staying there. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32532 i also have new information about the incidents that happened while we were staying there, but if i post it the post would violate the rules here on cfl and be deleted. anyone interested can pm me as before. good luck to all and think pink.
  7. we received a touch for our i-485 in 1-23 and again on 1-26. just wondering if this means they are working on our application or perhaps was it because i made and then cancelled an infopass appointment. any thoughts?
  8. yes, i would think so. especially if your interview is for the k3 visa and you dont pursue the cr1. good luck.
  9. this is interesting to me because i am in a similiar situation. its my understanding that a k2 may follow after the k1 has aos approved, but not a k4 after a k3 has aos approved. can someone please verify this?
  10. Rattling their cage will often get them to do what they are supposed to have done. By all means go to one. good news! after 2 phone calls to save and 1 phone call to uscis her info is updated and we got her licensetoday. we're both very excited and relieved about this. thanks everyone for the advice.
  11. we still dont have the save verification for my wife. i called the uscis and of course they were no help, but they told me to make an infopass appt. they also told me they didnt know if this would help. does anyone know if an infopass appt. will help the save verification process? the alternative is for the drivers license place to mail our immigration documents to wash. d.c. and wait 30 work days for this process. geez, why cant they just update the save database when they approve the ead card.
  12. i'm not sure about the current requirements but the last time i checked there was a 14 day waiting period for the marriage license and she can leave hk after the marriage takes place. yes, you can bring cats and dogs to the usa. maybe someone else will chime in with some more help. good luck!
  13. my so received her ead on dec. 31st and on jan. 3rd she took and passed her dl test but they wouldnt issue her dl because they couldnt verify her immigration status thru the save system. we returned on jan. 13th as instructed and still no save verification. i was wondering if anyone else had this problem or knows how long it should take for the save verification process? is there anything i can do to speed things up?
  14. i have not heard of this, but it sounds like the yellow international vaccination booklet that contains the vaccination records.its about the size of a passport but doesnt contain any information other than the vaccination records. hope this helps.
  15. it is not uncommon to receive conflicting info from dos. perhaps you can ask for a supervisor to get some clarity. good luck!
  16. hello to all. we will be doing the p3 and p4 paperwork for my 18 yr. old stepdaughter to ftj her mother later this month. i just wanted to know if we fill out the same papers for k2 that we did for her mother. it appears that we do not fill out the ds-156k and gni-2. just to be safe we will bring plenty of family photos to the interview. anything else we should watch out for? thanks!
  17. just thought i would post an update on our aos, ead, and ap apps. we mailed the package on october 20th and received ap on dec. 27th and ead card today (dec. 31st). what a great way to end the year. whoo hoo!
  18. instead of risking problems just fill them out in english and chinese and use the forms that guz sends you. many people try to take shortcuts and end up having issues.
  19. your wife can apply for her parents, but only after she becomes a usc. good luck.
  20. i also stayed at the yangs after reading all the rave reviews here on cfl. it was very dirty, needed maintenance, and we had money stolen from our room. most others seemed ok with the rooms so i guess i am more picky than most folks. you can pm me if you want more details. good luck and bring home the pink!
  21. whoo hoo! congrats and bring your lady home!
  22. its usually easier and less hassle to use the forms that guz sends out due to the idiots at the med center. this has been written about on cfl many times before. good thing you were able to persuade them to take your forms. bring home the pink!
  23. Does it have a matress and running water? 'Cause if it does, sounds like a better place than many I have been....... it sounds like the perfect place for you. sometimes you won't have any hot water. everyone has their own set of standards.
  24. some people have interviews and some don't. i'm not sure what the criteria is. when we had our biometrics, they did them for the ead and aos at the same appt.
  25. DOES NOT APPLY in TaijiMonkey's case they are K-1 NOT CR-1 (DCF) only DCF (CR-1 / IR-1 IMMIGRANT) visas pay the IMMIGRANT visa fee of $400 for immigrant visa. K-Visas pay $131 to CITIC bank before the interview preferably before madical so that the receipt can be included in the madical packet. ALL Visas pay the post office a mailing fee after getting approved for the visa. Again no more than 50 RMB is needed for the post office. the post office mailing fee is 20rmb as of august 5th 2008 assuming it hasn't changed since then.
