  1. It is time to prepare my stepdaughter's 751 application. My wife has already received her 10 year green card, but we had to wait awhile to apply for her daughter since she arrived here 11 months after her mom. So, my question is this: On page 2, part 4 of the 751, who should we list in that box, her mother, or myself?
  2. It's finally time to apply for my wife's lifting of conditions. She came here on a k1 and her daughter on a k2 about 1 year after her mother. So, my question is whether or not to list her daughter on part 5 on page 2 of the 751. I realize that her daughter is not eligible to file at this time hence my question. Thanks for any help on this.
  3. i totally agree with this. it has been reported many times on this site that visa issuance can take up to 12 days, so everyone should plan accordingly.
  4. thanks randy. her son is only 16 so age out is not an issue. i just thought i read somewhere that he couldn't adjust status since his mother has already received her green card.
  5. i am trying to help my wife's friend with aos paperwork. she entered the usa last year with a k3 visa and received her 2 year green card 3 months ago. her son came to the usa 2 months ago with the k4 visa. i seem to remember reading somewhere that the k4 cant adjust status because the mother has a green card and is no longer in k3 status. can someone please elaborate on this? what are their options?
  6. in our case, they did this at the medical exam. but, things have changed and the paperwork is turned in at the consulate instead of the medical nowadays. if you look at the ds-156 it says to attach photo here. i dont think it really matters too much.
  7. hi george. yes, your correct. we are very thankful for this.
  8. hi george. yes it sure is. actually it would have been smoother if the uscis had located our previous medical exam from guz, but instead they rfe'd us for their screwup.
  9. good news everyone. my lao po received her 2 yr. gc in the mail today. yee hawwww! she has been on the phone all day calling her friends, hehe. it took 6 months and 3 days, but we lost a month due to an rfe for the medical exam that uscis couldnt locate. happy days for 1 yr. and 9 months until time for lifting of conditions. btw, our online case status still shows pending, so it seems to be hit or miss with the online status.
  10. 10k usd or more and you have to report it to customs.
  11. The I-693 you sent in WAS incomplete, since it only had the vaccination section filled out. Yes, that's usually the way it's done. BUT, like you point out, "they lost his medical stuff from Guangzhou" They screw up, you pay. That's usually the way it's done. You did nothing wrong. randy is correct, as the same thing happened to us. after several phone calls and faxes to uscis, i discovered that the medical exam and i-129f were lost. so we had to redo the medical. grrrrr!
  12. steve and rong went thru the dna testing and the best i can remember you should expect to hear something in the next few weeks.
  13. i would wait until you are both back in the country. if you miss the biometrics appt., the uscis may consider your application abandoned.
  14. the same thing happened to us. we called uscis and discovered that our original medical exam and I-129F packet was not merged with the AOS papers and they dont know where it is. it seems that we have to pay for their screw ups.
  15. i just went thru the k1 and k2 and my stepdaughter is 18 and the father had custody on the divorce papers. once the child reaches 18 custody doesnt matter and you dont need a letter from the father. its even on the guz website somewhere. good luck!
  16. finally, we get the visa yesterday. it arrived at the post office on thursday april 9th and we received it from our liaison on the 11th. happy days again! it seems that every time guz has a holiday it delays visa receipt for a week or so.
  17. update. well, its been 8 days since my stepdaughter received pink and still no visa at the post office. since she and her mother had to return home today, they had to pay a service to pick up and mail the passport when it finally arrives. what a pain!!!!!!
  18. this may not be a good option for you. after reading the application procedure it appears that you need to demonstrate that your stay in china was due to circumstances beyond your control. perhaps others will have some additional info for you.
  19. if your wife ends up losing her permanent resident status there is an alternative to applying for another I-130. that option is for a returning resident visa. i'm not sure about the process, but you may want to look into it. good luck!
  20. i agree mike. it appears that the visa was issued on friday, but not mailed. we have been checking the ems number and the post office daily. grrrrr!
  21. yes, we tried this already. guz is closed april 4th, 5th, and 6th for tomb sweeping holiday.
  22. unbelievable! my stepdaughter received pink on march 31st and the visa is still not at the post office. i called dos on april 3rd and they told me the visa was issued, so obviously guz didnt mail the visa yet as the tracking number is not showing up. since monday is a guz holiday the earliest it can be mailed out is tuesday and picked up on wednesday. my mother in law and stepdaughter are stuck in guz. grrrrr!
  23. no. she just turned 18 on feb. 10th. thank goodness!
