  1. Ship it. Otherwise, if it isn't a special guitar, it is something that might be easier to replace when stateside.
  2. Why yes, I have seen something like that!
  3. We aren't saying that, but go back to the part with the guards and telling them to call the police. That's what I'm referring to. That takes a bit of balls, family or not!
  4. Dude! Those are some cannon balls! http://www.old-picture.com/civil-war/pictures/Cannon-Balls-002.jpg

  6. I think it's great that you want to do this dongyan, but something you need to consider is if it's something you want to do for the next 8 years. Your local recruiter can let you know for certain, but when I was of age many years ago, you joined up for 8 years. Most of the specialties only had a 2 year commitment, and the rest of the eight years could be either spent in a reserve like status, or active in the Army. Some specialties required 4 year commitments, and the other 4 years can be spent as you the same way - either active or reserve. I think the Navy is a minimum 4 year commitment out of the 8 years. I don't know about the Air Force. It could have changed by now, so make sure you check with your recruiting office.
  7. One problem is we don't know where you are headed, so I might be easier for us to help you out if you let us know what city you will be in.
  8. No it won't. They can do what ever they want no matter what they charge.
  9. Even if their ancestors came to the US after slavery was ended. Even if your ancestors came to the US after slavery was ended. Even if half or more than half of his ancestors were slavers. It's all about identity politics. Some people live to harbor grievances. Thank God we have people of all races who actually seek Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream: to be judged by character, not color of skin. Exactly! Some people love to hold grudges against whole countries that mostly don't have anything to do with what wronged their country. Wait - Is it ok if I hate Audi drivers?
  10. One day I was, as usual, minding my own business, and a black guy accuses me of slavery. Starts yelling at me. I guess all white people are guilty for slavery, and can never be forgiven. Even if they were born well after it happened.
  11. A calculator is also your friend! Oh yeah - Google has a calculator!
  12. Fineart and Warpedbored already said what I can say. However, I'll add that back in my college days, and I was able to associate with many Japanese, there was a certain ambivalence towards the Ainu. I don't know if it's still there in Japan currently, but it was. Another thing about this, is that it's mostly the old guard right wingers in Japan that promote these ideas of Japanese superiority that foster this arrogance. It's not a belief held by most Japanese.
  13. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/02/why-the-iphone/ Not so fast there Dnoblett!
  14. An attractive young woman selling sweets? I'm there!
  15. That was the funniest thing I've read all day! Not punished? Nine months of great times punctuated by a great time for a day? Then followed by some 18 years of goofing off and having a wonderful time? B)
  16. Repaid? Just like the loans from Social Security?
  17. STORY HIGHLIGHTS -China monitoring developments, planning next move after ship hijacking -Bulk carrier De Xin Hai hijacked 550 nautical miles northeast of Seychelles -There are 25 crew members on board the ship, are all Chinese nationals -EU force aircraft monitoring the ship reported seeing four pirates on deck
  18. They usually don't, but I believe they are supposed to have a mark. Since the mark only annoys me, I still say foe!
  19. Not to me at least. It looks like foe, not fuh, so I say foe.
  20. It's alright RobertH, we're here for you!
  21. I will take exception to the second sentence. Good science fiction and fantasy allow writers to take a situation and present it in a different light, and expose people to different concepts about thinking about said situations, while bypassing preconceived notions. The rest I'll agree with!
  22. Seriously - It easy how he did it. Money talks, bnllsh1t walks
  23. I was at my favorite tiny hiney place and reading the fortune from the fortune cookie. They are really terrible fortunes but they have a vocabulary word on each one, with a pronunciation guide. So I was curious as to the pronunciation of a word and I asked one of the ladies. The way she said it was only vaguely similar to the way it was written. I often wonder about this stuff as my job is fairly brain numbing and I need something to almost keep a few neurons firing. Why is Vietnamese soup written as pho (I know there's one of those weird marks over the o but I'm too lazy right now to figure out how to do it. Dang it Apple - I want Keycaps back in OS X! ), instead of pha or even fa? Was the previous system of writing the phonetic version of Chinese any better with regards to the way it sounded?
