  1. We'll be saying the same to you in 2 days. Thanks for introducing me to the site. I'm very excited for you.
  2. Couple questions... If your step daughter's natural father is here in the US, why isn't he the sponsor? I assume his ex-wife (or his daughters mother) had custody and then left her daughter with her parents, after her father already arrived here in the States. That was only 1 year ago. So now you are married to her (the daughter) father and he wants her here with him. So now it's up to the visa center to make a connection between you and your step daughter. This sounds like a very complicated case. There are a lot of questions to be asked. It sounds like there is still some legal issues that need to be resolved as far as child custody is concerned. In a complex case like this one sounds I would definately seek legal advice from an attorney. It sounds to me that there are bigger problems here than the visa center is willing to take responsibility for. This isn't a simple open and closed case, especially without a clear explaination of the reason why you can't even get a notary. Notary's for immigration matters are handled on the State and Federal levels. You can't just go down to the mailboxes ect. and get one. If your husband wants to be with his daughter anytime in the near future, he's probably going to have to "suck it up" and move back. Get some legal advice from an attorney. That's my only advice.
  3. Just to play devil's advocate... The DS3032 is also bar coded. In the instructions for the 3032 they tell you to fax the original to your wife if she never received it. Have her sign it and then mail it back to NVC. I filled out the 3032 for my wife, scanned it into .pdf (almost a perfect copy of the original), and then e-mailed it to my wife for her to sign. The 3032 only took about 1 week to travel from Shanghai to New Hampshire and that was in early December during Xmas card season. That's why if the 230 didn't need to be the original, it wouldn't be so bad. While talking about postal times, I noticed that the date on the letter head for the 3032, 864 bill and the 230 bill are all about 1 week before the date stamped on the envelope. Like they are sitting on the letter before they put it in the box. I don't know why, but it seems strange that the delay times are consistent. I can see a day or two delay in the gap between the letter head and the post mark date on the envelope, but not over a week. Come on, I'm dieing here. I also currently have a 1 month gap between my 230 and my 864. I had a delay in the 3032 because of the incorrect address issue. So the time to receive the 230 is dependant on the turn around time of the 3032 and the 864 is dependant obviously on the turn around time of the 864 bill. I was under the impression the "P3" package included both the 864 and the 230 together, that isn't the case though. I just mailed the 230 bill on the 31st and just received the 864 app in the mail yesterday.
  4. Ha Ha, That's awsome. Dude is on his way from Miami to GZ and ends up in Tibet (in Febuary). You could make a movie or a TV series about that one. That's great! Take away everything but the man's clothes, drop him off in Tibet and tell him to find his way back home to Miami. Too funny. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons6/24.gif
  5. Whao after reading that I might have to reconsider what I said earlier. DISH Network is pleased to offer you the very best Chinese-Language programming, featuring 28 top-quality, 100% digital channels delivered straight to your home 24-hours-a-day! These top-quality channels provide a variety of general entertainment including news, series, dramas, sports and children's programming. Drew Bledsoe sucks anyway....
  6. I am sure this is just a part of the backlog reduction plan and an effort to increase our national security. 1. It reduces backlog by adding an extra month at least. By adding this step, the likely hood the the paperwork being lost in the process increases. Can't work on paperwork if it gets lost in the mail right? 2. It increases our national security by making sure that my wife and I are not terrorists. When it arrives to them they can scan it for anthrax and explosives. If they don't detect any, we must be ok then. It makes perfect sense to me. Must be you. They also wrote in big letters not to duplicate or photocopy the bill for the DS230. Who knows the possibilities that could happen if it got into the enimies hands. But the DS230 is OK, go ahead and put the fillable DS230 in PDF and post it on our website for the entire planet to download. Then we won't put a note on our website stating that you can't use this document. We'll put it in our secret letter. Wait! Or...Or.... I think Bahan and I should be taking this matter personally since we seem to be the only two people in the world that noticed this. If anyone sees me in the short line in the grocery store DO NOT stand in my line, it wil still take longer.
  7. Unless you absolutely need one, don't do it. You have got all the support and guidance you need right here at Candle. ....Welcome. Little did I know when I hired him, that he didn't know much more than I did about the immigration proccess. There is years and years of experiance on this board from many members sharing information. You start by filling out the I-129F. Here's some information to get you started. http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-129f.htm http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1faq.htm http://www.visajourney.com/faq/index.htm#step%201 http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...es_1315.html#4a There is a lot of information about putting the I-129F package together and the whole process can be intimidating when you get started. After you get started you'll see what I mean. Or get a quote from a lawyer and I'll help you do it for the half price.... kidding.
  8. Now I'm confused!................ The DS-230 doesn't get notarized. You must be speaking of the I-864. The DS-230 is only an 'application for an immigration visa' form. What difference does it matter if you burn a copy off the DOS website or any other legitmate site? It is still a DS-230! and really, it's techically your wife's application to fill out. Unless the DS-230 you received from NVC has your wife's name, barcode, and/or GUZ number already typed in, then it shouldn't matter where you get a copy of the DS-230 from, just as long as it is up-to-date and legitimate. After paying the $335 immigration fee bill, NVC will mail the P3(DS-230) to you. Your I-864 you had notarized in Beijing should be good enough. You said that you have already paid the $65 AOS fee. When NVC sends the I-864 form/package to you, then use your I-864 you already completed. If your're not happy with that, then just fill out the I-864 that NVC sends to you. You can easily have it notarized anywhere! Just send it back to NVC, in their furnished envelope, along with the 3 years of tax returns, letter of employment and the barcode sheet. No problem! Follow NVC's instructions. They also want the GUZ number written in the upper right-hand corner of every document submitted. That includes both the I-864 and the DS-230 package. %%-good luck! Your right. I got confused for a minute. I was talking about the 864. They didn't say that needed to be the original. Only the DS230 does. The "original DS230" still needs to be filled out and signed by the wife, so I still lose. Notary or not The 864 requires Notary signatures by the wife and myself.
  9. If the original 230 form really needs to be notarized. That adds at least an extra month to the process. It clearly says on the 230 visa bill not to use the downloaded form, but says nothing about it on the website with the fillable form. I would like to play stupid and just say oh I didn't see it, but I'm always the one that gets burnt, so I'll play by the rules. Lao Po isn't going to happy about this. Thanks for your reply Bahan. Maybe they should tell the embassy in Beijing about the "new rule". They were the one's nice enough to notorize my downloaded 230 for me.
  10. Thanks again, I did recieve the $65 bill and mailed it back at the begining of the month and the $335 bill at the end of the month. The address was wrong on the 3032 to my wife, thanks to my &%@#$% Laywer again. The only correct page on my G325 was the 1st one. Pgs, 2, 3 and 4 don't go to the department that mails your spouse the 3032, I can tell you that. It makes no sense to me why they would post the 230 on thier website (fillable even), and then turn around and tell you not to use it. I'll check with them to be sure. ...but then again I still don't know how we can use the words Navel and Intellegence in the same sentence either.
  11. I recieved the bill for $335 (DS230) a few days ago and mailed it back off to them the next day. I was really hoping I would get the 864 though. Note: At the top of the bill it says... "When we recieve your fee you'll receive the DS230. Return only the original application that we send you. Do not use any downloaded computer forms." That's fine with the 230, but if they say the same about the 864 that stinks. Amy and I both went down to the ASC in Beijing to get the 864 notarized while we were together. Even if they say the same thing about not turning in the downloaded 864. They must look at the seal from the embassy in Beijing and know it's for real. right? I would hate to submit the paperwork with the embassy's seal on it and have them turn around and toss it away because it was a "downloaded duplicate." Puuuhlleeeaassse tell me my notarized 864 is still acceptable even though it's a downloaded duplicate. http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864pkg.htm ...couldn't find the 230 download on the USICS website. (good thing)
  12. My Lao Po said the same thing. These trips are getting expensive now. I asked her what was more important for her. Being at the Interview with her or being with the family at New Years. She replied that New Years was more important. She explained the importance the newest family member being there. I believed her already, but this is the 1st I heard anyone on the board say the same thing about it. Cool. I speant New Years with my wife in Hangzhou last year. There is nothing like it in the US. If you think you've "seen it all" and haven't been to China for New Years, You haven't "seen it all" yet.
  13. Did your fiancee come up with the photo's of her ex with the daily paper and all the other "evidence" of her ex's where abouts? Sounds like your case is more a matter of proving the where abouts of your fiancee's ex-husband, than proof of a relationship between yourself and your fiancee. That's a shame on them.
  14. Check the Sec. of State website. I saw A to Z about public Notary when I checked last time. After reading more, it sounds like it needs to be a higher level seal than just a public notary. http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/notary/notar...ry_2004hdbk.htm This link is for California, must be similar for all 50 states, I would imagine. http://www.ss.ca.gov/business/notary/codes...espage.htm#8223 ยง 8223. Notary public with expertise in immigration matters; prohibition against advertising status as notary public; change in immigration status; fees (a.) No notary public who holds himself or herself out as being an immigration specialist, immigration consultant or any other title or description reflecting an expertise in immigration matters shall advertise in any manner whatsoever that he or she is a notary public. 15. Same story with my wifes home town of Quzhou. Big difference between the two cities. I sent travel agent infor to you. I called her, but got a message that she'll be out until the 2nd. You still have pleanty of time. Do it tommorrow, later, later...Why get done today what you can put off doing until tommorow? Happy New Years!!! http://chineseculture.about.com/library/symbol/large/happynewyear1.gif
  16. Hi Micheal, I'm Doug. 1st thing were going to need you to do here is run down to the store, grab a 40 and dime bag. It will be OK. 2nd thing is kick back and throw some Bob Marley in the 8 track. Your volume is about a 9 and a half. If you can you turn it down to about a 6 or 7 that would be be great. Techinically New Years isn't until the 9th. It lasts for about a week. So you have some flexibility there. Ok Micheal? Your already married, so what's all the fuss about? ahhh I get it. The cheetos are almost out. I hate when that happens. Buttons getting a little sticky on the keyboard huh? With about 5 minutes of searching I could see that there is a airport in Luzhou. Civilain too, not Military. That's a good thing. luzhou-airport Ok enough of my sarcastic sense of humor. (I'll get back to it in a minute.) You want to go from Miami, FL - International (MIA) To Luzhou, China (LZO) That's only a measily 9000 MILES! You will need to fly into Guangzhou, China (CAN) 1st and then get a domestic hop over to LZO or DMZ ...where ever. You'll need to switch carriers. Normally it's not a problem. Not too expensive either. Here's the deal. I can give you the # for my Travel agent. Very nice Chinese lady. She can work unbelievable magic. Your looking at about 900 to 1100 bones though. Here's what I saw... http://www.orbitz.com - forget them, you don't want to know. On www.flychina.com about $900 Round-Trip from Miami FL (MIA) to Guangzhou China (CAN) for travel on Feb 07 Departure and Feb 14 Return -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Northwest $884 USD per adult -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Air China $902 USD per adult connecting in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Beijing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- China Southern $985 USD per adult connecting in Los Angeles Call the travel agent back again and explain to them this is what needs to happen. Internationally you need to go from A to B switch planes Domestically over to C. A. Miami, FL - International (MIA) B* via Guangzhou (CAN) C. Luzhou, China (LZO) B* Beijing, China (PEK) can also be a point for a layover. You can do it my brother. (unless you ain't got the cash, then your screwed.) Hope I was able to help. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons6/67.gifPeace out!! I was going to write some more stupid stuff in here but it took me too long already. I like your humor. Cracks me up.http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons6/24.gif
  17. Fellas, For CR1 reference click the hyperlink in my signature. It's been right on so far. The link says... Packet 3 will usually consist of the following: DS-2001 (or OF-169 or UK/85) -- This is the main set of instructions. It is also a checklist of items required for the interview. OF-167 -- information sheet about financial responsibility. DS-230 (or OF-230 Part 1) -- biographical data sheet. DS-156 -- Nonimmigrant visa application form You may or may not, at this time, receive medical exam information, and a list of required immunizations. I thought the I-864 affidavit of support was included also. I know it's coming next, along with the 230. In this case I perceive Bahan is sane... (I like that quote.)
  18. He cheated on his Harley??? For a woman? Repulsive!!!
  19. You must have whiplash from the packages hiting you so quickly. If the embassy in Shanghai has an ASC, then go for it. They'll notarize it. I had mine Notarized at the ASC in Peking already. The Shanghai embassy is much nicer than the one in Peking. It feels more like an outlet store than an embassy. One stop shopping. Look at it this way...the $350 you just made with 4 weeks of work, just paid for your visa bill. easy come easy go.
  20. Good news. Hey by the way...Our wedding day is a day after yours. We wanted to get married the 12th also, but the dudes in the marraige office in Quzhou took the day off to go fishin' or something. It wasn't official until the next day... Thursday The 13th. If the Friday the 13th is an unlucky day in the US it must be a lucky day in China. Seems like everything is opposite. Maybe that explains the attraction
  21. I can definately relate. My mood can change instantly between threads. Keep on keepn' on.
  22. That's great man. I look forward to the day I get the same news too.
  23. Lucky, I think your fiancee is unlucky that you got the dish network. You have to subscribe to the other service to get the NFL package. I couldn't imagine living without it. Lao Po only knows one NFL team, it also happens to be my favorite too. Coincidence? hmmm I haven't asked her yet, but i'm sure she would give up 10 channels in her native language 24 x 7 to watch only 3 hrs a week of Bills football during the 5 month long NFL season. Man I love that woman of mine. Got to treat her right. ...and oh, Welcome to CFL, not to be confused with the Canadian Football League.
  24. "We're a modern stone aged family...a page right out of history..."
  25. There has been a lot of posts on this issue. The general concensus is if you can make it there, then you should go. It's not documented as a requirement, but definately recommended. Good luck with your interview and welcome to CFL. Note: I just noticed the member #. There was about 700 that signed up on CFL in the last year. About 2 people per day. CFL grew 100% in the last year. Where can I buy stock in the board? 100% is a pretty good APR.
