  1. Was just perusing the Summer Fair site for Chicago Chinatown and see it will be held Sunday, July 17th this year.Don't know if I am jumping the gun on stirring interest for this, but really had a good time last year and hopefully can get more CFL'ers to meet up for lunch and whatnot before heading out into the crowded streets and vendors. How about it guys and gals?..Really hoping for a big turnout this year. Would love to meet up with more of you all face to face. Lets get makin' some plans.
  2. How is the tone? I guess it depends on who you say it to. Does your wife often say this to you? ...not to me....but when she is playing this very popular QQ game she says it quite often...and when talking with her friends in China and describing how cold it is here in the winter, it is also referenced often.....sorry for the delay on the answer to your question, but have been having a lot of trouble just pulling the candle page up on my computer for the last few days.
  3. how is the tone when saying this.... Âè¸ö±ÆµÄ as I hear this phrase frequently.
  4. When it is time to submit the 751 for removal of conditions, will the government send us a notice or anything to tell us it is time to do this? or is this strictly up to us to monitor and make sure it is submitted when it is due?
  5. We use t-mobile.....area of coverage is not that great, but it ain't too good for any other carriers either(we live in a rural area)...but our phones are nokias from china and have language options of chinese or english...all texts are fully chinese and immediate...love the chinese/english translator on them too...comes in handy very often.
  6. Rong's car is a Black 2000 Toyota Avalon.
  7. Yes this is a single application, UNLESS a child got their green-card after their parent, as in a "Follow to Join" situation. Simply add $80 each for the additional Biometrics. The letters attesting to relationship has to do with you and your wife, the daughters need not be included in the letters. Was not a follow to join, but the children did recieve their green cards about a month and a half later than their mother did (all were applied for at the same time)_...figured i will send within the ninety day period of the childrens expiration date.
  8. Just looking ahead to the future application for the ten year green cards for Rong and her two children. I have downloaded the forms and instructions and quickly perused them. My questions are...does the mother and both children (who will be age 13 & 20 at the time I send in the application) all apply for the 10 year green card on the same I-751? If so, the letter(s) of bonafide relationship and marriage from friends who will write them, can the validation of everyone be taken care of in a single letter?, or does there need to be a separate letter for each applicant?
  9. thanks don for helping me learn more about this.....the thing is, i don't sit and watch what she is doing with her computer.....and if she was to get a warning about files being infected or corrupt, i think she would just ignore the warnings and proceed with whatever she is doing.
  10. Torrents....not to change the subject of my own thread, but....just took daughters computer in to have it debugged...didn't know much about torrents until after talking with the computer repairman.....was 299 bits of viruses everywhere in in her computer (is a new computer too)...she let the trial antivirus expire...i had given her the kaspersky internet security to put in, but she did nothing with it ...seems there are what they call "Dialers" in the torrent programs, and even when you are not using the program, they are very busy little things....sending data out, bringing data in.....rong and i didn't know what was up with our computer, why the internet was so slow....found out why when we shut her daughters computer off.....was hogging all the bandwidth and not even leaving a scrap for anyone else to use....have told daughter that everything that is missing from her computer will stay missing!......i think she had 5 different torrent programs on her computer...No more torrents!
  11. Just found this out this weekend...Rongs son, age 12, is in the 6th grade here...he did not know one word of english upon his arrival in dec 2008...is coming along pretty well learning to speak english, but his reading and writing are still way behind...the problem?..they have him in a spanish class this semester...is that nonsense or what?...i know the idea is to teach/introduce the students to a foriegn language, but wouldn't one be sensible enough to recognize that teaching him english IS teaching him a foriegn language and that the time wasted trying to teach him spanish would be much better spent trying to help him learn to read, write and speak english?.....is it just me?....has anyone else encountered this with chinese dependents?.....i'll be at the school first thing in the morning to try and get this straightened out!
  12. I wholeheartedly believe this and why the consulate does not somehow advise the applicants of something needed or otherwise lacking in the application before the impending blue or white slip at the interview still behooves me...i am sure they are aware of situations that will cause immediate blue slips and i just don't know why sometimes they are not handled before the interview.....sure would save a lot of time, money and most important, a lot of heartbreak.
  13. Maybe Marge was this "SY"'s Mentor. It's really too bad that GUZ doesn't come on here and explain themselves sometimes...yours, like tsap's...goin into a black hole and never havin any idea of why, or where or when or anything ever explained to you in detail so you have some king of recourse to fix whatever was wrong.....is total
  14. Hey Tsapper......that sounds so much like "M" aka Marge....you don't suppose that ole battle ax is still re-upping for extended tours in the Merry Ole Land of GUZ?....the temperment and the not looking at documentation when presented to her!....sure sounds like her to me!
  15. Ran accross this website...shows fairly clearly the effects of the recession in the USA....anyone for moving to the breadbasket of the USA? http://cohort11.americanobserver.net/latoyaegwuekwe/multimediafinal.html
  16. right on!!!!....now bring her home!
  17. while GUZ was screwing us over with the dna crap, the asked for and given to I-134 but never looked at and then told needed I-134 so then given blue slip and then supposedly lost the approval letter (I think it was misplaced and was never sent out), but I ended up writing my senator and calling his offfice and it was taken care of pronto... I recieved correspondence from Senator telling me they had correspondence with GUZ and the problem was being taken care....later got an email from GUZ telling me that her letter of approval was somehow lost or misplaced and another was being sent out. Whether it really helped by writing the senator and calling his office is anyones call....but it gave me a little peace of mind letting my senator know what a circus is being run in GUZ.....oh....and the rude treatment my fiancee got from the VO...was threatened with having police remove her when Rong asked why she needed I-134....VO said it was not there....Rong tried to give it to her again and was then threatened to have security remove her from the building......everyone knows that the visa applicants go to the interview knowing full well they basically gotta kiss ass if they want to have a chance for the visa...and then to have the VO spew out sh*t like that...really pissed us both off as well as countless others this happens to.
  18. Sometimes when they are running behind, the pilot will push the plane a little faster to make up for some lost time...espesially when flying over uninhabited places...prevailing winds too might help catch up on it....i really wouldn't worry about it, if she arrives too late to catch her connecting flight, the airline will probably put her up for the night at a nearby hotel and get her on the next flight to nanning....this has happened to me before when flying to xi'an....plane left chicago late and had to catch connecting flight the next morning.....50 minutes?, depends on the lines at immigration....shouldn't have to wait for luggage...will be forwarded with the connecting flight in the morning if that is the case
  19. as far as i know, everyone gets these statements every year or every other year.....they, i presume, are sent out in a mass mailing....i just recieved mine yesterday....but, like i said, i don't know if this would be acceptable evidence or not.
  20. I don't know if this will be of any help or not, but, i just recieved from social security what is called "Your Social Security Statement"...it is a printout of my earnings record for the past 40 years has been and then shows what my projected benefits will be at different ages of retirement...if your father has also recieved this statement and can fax it to you, maybe this can help stave off the blue?....have not heard of anyone using this document before, butwho knows?....it is an official document from social security that states the taxed social security earnings reported for every year since you or your father (depending on whose document you are using) have been working and filing taxes.
  21. of course, everyones wife is different...what might be acceptable for one may not be for another....i see others are stumped on this by the lack of quick replies.....but, if i had to do this again, i would just send her a beautiful boquet of flowers and some money and tell her to shop for some clothes that she really likes...my wife would do this on taobao.....very nice things to find there.
  22. check online for, among other, california or washington state....they have the rules of the road booklets in chinese on the internet available for printing or download...maybe are some subtle differences from your state, but i think is close enough to pass a test....and check with your secretary of states office to see if they have a test available in chinese....illinois did have this, but the local driving test station was unaware of it....i had to make some calls to get it supplied to them.
  23. I doubt you will find it anywhere right now....is a new release movie in china that is filling theaters everywhere...even lining up for 2:00AM showings...just was a stroke of luck for the ones that got to see it online prior to its removal.....but who knows, am sure someone will copy and post it again eventually....is the china way to share the best movies!....not exactly sure of the name of the movie...is called "Aftershock" or Tangshan Earthquake-Aftershock....here it is in chinese...ÌÆɽ´óµØÕð.....hope this helps.
  24. I hope some of you all got to see this....i guess the china movie industry is getting a little notion of how the american movie industry feels about pirated movies...they have been taking parts of this movie off the internet, so i don't think you can see in ite entirety now...this movie had just opened in theaters in china recently and is the number one movie now. Completely taken off now.
  25. Glad you enjoyed it...is a very moving/touching movie and is best to keep a handkerchief handy when watching it. Brought tears to Rongs eyes....many scenes brought back many memories to Rong as having been old enough to well remember this happening.
