  1. After screwing up a couple of things, Rong and both her children have all got their green cards now....Rong's came a couple of months ago, and the childrens both arrived today (had a RFE to deal with)....no job on the horizon for Rong yet as she needs to get her drivers liscence first.....she was however very helpful on the farm this fall and after riding with me in the combine during bean harvest and paying close attention to what I was doing, she ran the combine for almost all the corn harvest, 300+ acres by herself!...
  2. accordian style and let your fiancee write the contents on the tabs so she can find everything asap....some VO's are very finicky about their time and want the requested items pronto
  3. Hey Jimi....Hows it goin?....Skin rashes huh?....don't know if you had read my questions on this after we got here one year ago, but I'll recap what we have learned...as some may remember, Rong would get terrible rashes on her body...arms, legs, torso....we tried everything to eliminate it, changed detergents I don't know how many times....and for the rashes, the doctor prescribed claritin, but we found the most relief from OTC benedryl....it pretty much took the rash (hives) away pronto.....and then it came less and less often that she needed it....my own personal opinion is that it was just her body becoming accustomed to the food products here...Rong and many of the 002 crowd claim it is the water, but i seriously doubt that....I think it is just her body becoming acclimated to the food here....we do make regular trips to chinatown in Chicago to get many things she wants and needs for everyday cooking. Rong rarley gets these rashes now and has not even used the benedryl anymore. As for your wife, whatever it is, i am sure it will subside and go away in time, and untill then, i would suggest she takes the benedryl whenever she (your wife) has an outbreak...best of luck
  4. steveandrong, if you can discuss facts, please do so, otherwise, please don't put words in my mouth. I only said you were right....i was wrong....is nothing the nations of the world can or will do to stop this, so i end my thinking on this matter here and now!
  5. mmpv is right....whatever was I thinking to begin with?...there is only one good reason to stop piracy and so many reasons why we shouldn't or can't.....so, i guess it is just as prudent to say let the ships fly a big flag that says "Suckers" and invite themselves to more hijack/hostage attempts. It is really strange that we have had the technology and money to put men on the moon for forty years now, but we can't stop a few ragtag bands of pirates...What a dismal statement for "The greatest power in the world?".
  6. USA Today reports 2 more ships seized by pirates yesterday.....ah well, just business as usual....carry on boys....gee, maybe Robs right.....small investmenty of a rubber raft, some RPG's and a few AK-47's.....odds are certainly a lot better that playing the lotto!
  7. Don't forget that these are civilian vessels. Good luck getting the military hardware. And even if you do, you are now banned from docking at port because of your toys. Who is going to pay for them? Do you know how much traffic passes through that area? Actually, you brought up a good point. Even if they were caught, I believe up until late last year, all the captors could do to the pirates were to catch them and repatriate them to their homeland. A UN resolution authorized the use of force and encouraged extradition to respective states for criminal prosecution. The multi-national navies that patrol the area has made life very difficult for Somali pirates this year. The pirates responded by expanding their home turf from the coast of Somalia all the way to the Indian ocean. Again, this tit for tat response does not go after the true cause of this pirate activity, namely the failed state of Somalia. No one is stepping up to address this fundamental issue. #1, laws or resolutions can always be made to accommodate weaponry aboard civilian ships..as long as it is being handled militarily, i don't see how it could not #2, everyone would pay for it through higher shipping costs....same as anything gets paid for, it is always passed on to the consumer with only few exceptions. #3, Piracy is the pirates business, and when business becomes unprofitable and the risks outweigh the rewards, then business shuts down and if Somalia wants to raise a stink about it then let them take it to the UN and whine about it all they want....i think they'd be hard pressed to find a sympathetic ear
  8. Some ships do hire armed guards as part of the crew. However, "armed" is a relative term. When the other side is sporting RPGs, machine guns, etc. and your security only has a handgun or rifle, the odds don't change much. I also heard that there are different regulations regarding arms that you can carry because every port (i.e. country) has it's own rules, regulations, permits, etc. Some countries don't allow weapons, period. Things can get mighty tricky real fast. A few tow missiles and and a few mounted 50 cal. machine guns on each ship that must travel through the pirate infested waters should be mandatory....gotta let em know we ain't taking this crap any more and put em outta business.....if we don't react seriously, we'll never be taken seriously What would be wrong with having a squad of trained army or marine personel on board these ships to take the action when neccesary?...sure beats the alternative of doing nothing and paying these crooks millions of dollars and letting them perpetuate their business! and then...and then...if we can actually capture some of these goons, we can send then to prison for and eternity and a half and let them eat and drink nothing except Jins brussel sprout soup and her wonderful coffee packets That'll teach em a lesson or two!!!!
  9. sounds like a good business to me, a rubber boat,RPG,AK47 and a 4 million return. yeah...provided you don't get blown outta the water and sent to the bottom of the sea as fish bait
  10. ya know, this is one of them issues in this day and age that i just don't understand...why don't these shipping consortiums arm these ships with some real fire power and just blow these pirates to kingdom come when they get near to these ships?...it just don't make sense that the great powers of the world cant put a stop to these rag tag bands of pirates....we all pay this ransom money through higher prices for whatever commodities, so why pay it to the pitates?....i would rather see the shipping consortiums use the money to arm these ships well and then play hardball with these goons.
  11. Hmmmm.....i won't say take what 001 says with a grain of salt, but i will say, take it with a few flower peppers.....the numbing effect will help
  12. I'm just a litle curious as to who has been sending out the blue and white slips...you guys whose gals have been gettin them, whose initials are on these papers?
  13. I almost want to fly over to GUZ just to watch him freaking out. It's going to be entertaining! Gotta agree with ya on that...Robert's so entertaining here, just gotta wonder how his performance will be in Guz....maybe they've already heard of him and have got his number and will roll out the red carpet for him....he's already quite a celebrity here in cfl
  14. Yea, talk about a catch 22. He would be screwed. Its fairly common for those with early interview times to get called to this window too. This window never seems to have pink paper The window of the infamous mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....mother of all dogs
  15. why not change it over to u.s. dollars and carry the 11 hundred or so bucks back with ya in yer pocket? 11 one hundred dollars bills ain't squat to carry.
  16. fu yang quan (¸§ÑøȨ) ...yes....fu yang quan
  17. As long as she has the custody (fu yan quan) and is stated as so in her divorce booklet, she can get this translated, notarized and certified....then she can take the boy with her.....we went through this with both of Rong's two children
  18. Just for everyones information, there are 18 segments to this (you can keep track at the lower right hand part of the video) and as I said, what's particularly interesting is the background of all the BigWigs at the FDA shown in the last segment of the film......talk about who's who and sleeping in each others bed!!!
  19. Rong found this link on 001....Now I'm not one to generally post links, but I found this one to be exceptional as Rong did also....Is all about food production in the USA...for those with weak stomachs, please feel forewarned...here it is.... http://hd.openv.com/mov_play-hdmovie_20091203_7136982.html What's especially interesting is at the end of this when you get to see our FDA representatives and their credentials
  20. ummmmmm......taste like chicken? Rong is from Xi'an....is a lot of money flowing around Xi'an....Each time we would go out for dinner with friends there, was nothing to spend several thousand RMB for evening meal and drinks and then who knows how much more for KTV afterwards!
  21. Personally, I don't think there is any more regional difference in the CHinese women (or men for that matter) than there is regional differences in American men (or women for that matter also)...think about it...in every walk of society you are gonna find high strung people, laid back people, angry people, easy going people, poor people, rich people.....I think maybe it is even more extreme in America because of all the different races and cultures.....people here from maybe every country in the world tryin or not trying to mix...each person is the result of their upbringing, life experiences, environment and taught values in life...i'm sure i am forgetting a few of the variables, but i'm you you all get my drift on this....and i'm sure most people have a preconcieved mindset about people from other regions of the usa as well as from other countries of the world....i think you are wasting your time trying to figure it all out because there are wonderful people from all walks of life, from all countries and regions of those countries just as well as each state, region or province or city has its fair share of jerks......my opinions are free...no need pay money
  22. corn burner...only burns shelled corn, no cobs....for those who have steady access to clean shelled corn, is a good supplemental source of heat for the home during the winter months....puts out (I think) 40,000btu
  23. Put a Corn Burner in our home....is actually a fireplace insert that vents out the side of what was the old chimney (tore the old chimney down and sealed it off and roofed over where it once was) and now have a fireplace that actually adds heat to the home....of course to do this, must need a reliable source of corn....got ours locally after seeing them at a farm expo show
  24. i remember asking the same question and as i recall, they are to be left blank....why not fill out the i-131?....doesnt cost any more and if you need it, you have it....never know when a situation may arise where it could come in very handy
