  1. Thanks. Adoption is a separate process from being a step son ? It can be done later after he is already in the US ? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Still waiting for the denial letter from USCIS issued on Feb 7 , 2017 . Strange that we never receive any RFE before . All we got was the receipt for the application 8 months ago . I made an appointment to see the Detroit USCIS office next Wed . Hopefully , it is a simple matter which essentially was a classification mistake in which I could petition him as an immediate relative .
  2. Since I am a USC and his biological mother is LPR ( not a conditional LPR ) , once he entered the US , what is this kid status going to be ? an LPR , a USC or a Conditional LPR ? He is 12 years old now. Thanks.
  3. I did not know that I could file . She is the biological mother . My marriage happened when he was only 6 years old . Please help me what category can I file for him ? and what documentation will be needed ? You mentioned about US Citizen Step Parent. Is the visa priority be faster than she 's filing ? what kind of time frame ? The strange thing is we never received any RFE or letter before this , unless they are lost in the mail for some reasons. Strange why the I 130 is denied .
  4. Hello all CFL members ; I just checked my wife's I-130 petition status on line for her 13 years old son and it said it was denied on Feb 7 ,2017 . Have not received the letter and the explanation for denial reason . He was living with his father but he is biological son of my wife . His father has recently signed a transfer for his custody to my wife . We did not include this court document in the I-130 application . My wife has been in this country for over 5 years and still maintaining her LPR status . I am confused what could be the reason ? Waiting anxiously for the USCIS letter . Anyone who wants to guess ?
  5. We live in NC . We sent the application to VSC since that's noted in the instruction . We had the finger print and that blanket 1 year extension . It sounds like it is in the final process and it goes to CSC.
  6. Just got a notice from Vermont Service Center saying that the case for removal of CPR has been moved to California Service Center because CSC has the jurisdiction . On the right hand corner there is a note saying that Approved I-891 .... . Submitted this removal of CPR in April 2013. Strange ? Does it make that the application has already been approved and going forward to be processed for the 10 year green card ?
  7. how long is this process ? My wife was given the automatic 1 year extension back in May . It seems that this may take close to 1 year . She had her fingerprint done in June sometimes. What if you change address or move during this period ? do you need to notify them ?
  8. 1. should the biometric fee be paid up together with the I-751 application fee ? 2. when would they set the appointment for biometric ?shortly after filing or it may take sometimes ? In case she is travelling abroad at that time , how should this be handled ? The 1 year automatic extension letter after submitting the I -751 . Can that letter be used to obtain the green card stamp at the Consulate ? Thanks. Happy New Year ( Xin Nian Kuai Le )
  9. Friends . Here is the info I got from the Ministry of Public Security ( Gong An Ju ) about the requirements for obtaining Chinese Greencards. There is indeed a family based immigration there !!! You got to be married for 5 years or more and in the past 5 years, you have lived in China for at least 9 months every year . You got to have a good job and income also. Anyone who has done this and wants to share the story ? Thanks. http://english.gov.cn/2005-08/29/content_27379.htm
  10. There are a few hundred thousands of Chinese get their US greencard every year and most of them are through family based immigration . I think China is still a poor country considering they don't welcome family based immigration at all . 850 foreigners out of 1.3 billion people ? that 's a joke !
  11. I think Chinese in general like Americans. They are just taking advantage of the situation for commercial reasons. That's all .... We , on the other hand, in this country , in general , don't like Chinese ! there is an overall sentiment and dislikes for various reasons. They are by far much better than Middle Eastern or Mexican . Trust me ! One thing I do respect is their no non sense approach to law enforcement . It is a much safer place than in the US.
  12. How about thru marriage with Chinese Citizen?
  13. By the way, anyone knows about the requirement for getting Chinese Greencard ? how about the reality ? as you all know, in China , what on paper and the practice could be different .... could be a little different or could be a lot different ....
  14. Hi : this is a great discussion topic. This is China . As Chinese also must endure with the BS's , so does foreigners !!! Try to cooperate , it'll go much smoother. It is only about photo . Don't take the principle of right or wrong , but be pragmatic . It is China , after all. By the way, if you are married to a Chinese citizen , aren't you eligible to apply for a Chinese permanent residence visa after X years of marriage ?
  15. This is not for me since I am happily married. Good friend of mine who lives in SF asked me to check with you guys if you have encountered this dating agency. http://imMatched.com 347 5th Ave, suite 1108, New York, NY 10016. Tel: (212) 532- 0328 any comments are highly appreciated. if you rather send me a PM , pls feel free to do so . Many thanks .
  16. I would get a competent Chinese visa agent or attorney to secure you the Z visa. Connection is the name of the game in China. You never did any protesting or any anti government activity against the Chinese government , in my opinion, your case is not too much of concern to them. anyway, talk to the Chinese visa people with connection to Gong An Que. ( PSB ).
  17. anyone has recommendation of excellent classes to enroll for Chinese who speaks no English ??? I want to get mine jump started so she can start blending into the US sociey. We live in the Charlotte NC area. Thanks
  18. thanks . this is really a great site where we can share experiences .
  19. By the way, for my lao po , we checked the box that asked for it when filling out DS 230 application for an immigrant visa . She 's been here for 1 month and the SS card still has not showed up . The 2 year greencard showed up a few days ago. How reliable are they in processing the SS card via immigrant visa processing ? or we better of showing up at the ss office ???
  20. Morality is low due to highly competitive nature of the society . For many years of communism and the lying concept of cultural revolution and now full enterprise system . What do you expect ??? I'm not at all surprise with the postings . In fact ,they are not that bad considering it could be worse.
  21. south carolina , deep down south . near Florence, SC .

  22. IF you can prove that your relationship ia a bonafide one ! and you got enough income to support her and she is free from diseases and criminality and last but not least , she is not a member of Chinese Communist Party . , then she is good to go. On more thing, you are not on the criminal list . estimated time from start to finish 8 months to 1 year . if you got into trouble, expect to go on and on for 2-4 years . you should read many threads posted in this forum. Take your time to read them please.
  23. Your relationship is a bonafide one ; no suspicion of any foul play . So, you got approved easily . as you can see, they didn't try to give your sweetie a hard time , even though you are a grandpa. age difference doesn't matter as long as you can show it that it is a bonafide relationship . Now, this is done, since she got K1 , both she & her son and YOU must do this again with USCIS 3 months after arriving at POE .( I-485 ; application for adj. of status to that of permanent residence ). Anyhow, my lao po comes from the same area as yours ( Deyang city ) . Feel free to PM me if you & her want to , once you guys settle down already . They can talk in their dialects and eat " la jiao " .
  24. This is an excellent site for those contemplating in bringing their spouse or fiancee from China to the United States. I can't say enough to thank many contributors and moderators to this site. Now, I have more knowledge than most common immigration attorneys about China specific . Because I read this site daily , I had enough knowledge to prepare my petition and spouse application very well . Everything went smoothly . We finished in 8 months. That includes a small error at NVC for not submitting her scanned US passport style photos. I do hope to continue the interactions and contacts with other members , as always. Once again, thanks to the founders and dedicated moderators , past and present and other members.
  25. congrat ! good news ! My lao po is also from Sichuan Deyang Mianzhu area . If you 'd like to , once she settles in the US, you may PM me and we'll let these Sichuan dialect speaking ladies make their connections.
