  1. Yes, Dennis I know who would take the fall for the flaws. And interesting that you should mention Chinese sons (Princes) Thomas. We stayed with Tai Tai's little boy and girlfriend while in the PRC. Her little boy is a 26 year old officer in the PLA and can't cook, clean, drops his clothes around the house...he can play games on his $600 iPhone, watch tv and play games on his lap top...I also think he dresses himself and wipes his own ass, but never witnessed either. His mother and I went downtown and he called 6 times wanting to know if she would be home to cook lunch...so I sarcastically asked,"Since his girlfriend or mother can't live with him when he is living at his base, does he have a little Asian teenage girl cleaning and cooking for him"? My wife seriously answered that when he is at the base a recruit is assigned to each officer to take care of him and do the chores. I saw a discussion on CCTV about this generation born in the 1980-90...they are the first children of the one child policy and the researchers are seeing many differences. The had no siblings to compete with, no sibling examples and a lot of other psycho jargon to say, they ain't worf a shit. I've checked out his friends and they are sons of businessmen and live off the family. Now the girls I've observed are not the case...they seem to be the future leaders. The girlfriend is very talented...she came home with a part for the toilet one day and I got with her to help...she grabbed a screwdriver and in the blink of an eye she had it fixed. She comes in the door from work and she's in the kitchen cooking up some excellent groceries. She came home with a wireless router and we were wireless in a half hour. She had 2 sisters and a younger brother...her daddy paid $100K in penalties so he could get his Prince. Now she is a keeper. I told the wife that someday girlfriend is going to discover that little boyfriend can't do anything but play games and she'll dump his officer ass. Ok, I have to go and find a singles web site for our lovely niece so she can be spellbound by some fast writing, rich, educated, handsome, Usonian bachelor.
  2. We just returned from China and a month of happiness for Lao po and for me feeling like a mushroom...bored outta my skin. But while there I enjoyed our 29 yoa niece's company several times. She talked Lao po into helping her find a Western man to become friends with. Of course the job was delegated to me. (aka the big mushroom). As for the niece she's got a great personality and a lot of fun, a real keeper. She runs the family business, is a college grad and began law school. She is very musical and at karaoke she sings like, Celine Dion. She likes to travel and is adventurous when she can take off the business woman hat. Her English is fair but with a couple months immersion she'd be fluent. I'm thinking about Asian Friend Finder if I must be her go between/filter...I just don't see how this will be any fun for Lao gon.
  3. I've recently heard that the K1 is now the fastest, but I'm far from an expert...but an expert will be along shortly.
  4. Wool, Navy bell bottoms...now that's miles from being cool. I was around sailors a lot and they hated them and the 13 buttons. But I agree that the music then was great. I also hung around WDC in those days. The wimmins out numbered the men by far and the clubs were great and drinking age was 18 yoa. I've shown Hu Po several of the old groups that are on YouTube...the last was Gladys Knight and the Pipps performing on,"The Midnight Special" back in the seventies. She liked Levon Helms and Country Joe, but didn't get the lirics. Yep, the "DCs" will be missed.
  5. When I'm channel surfing I always have to stop and watch Seinfeld and lao po likes him, too. I know that she doesn't understand much or gets all of the humor but she laughs along... "No soup for you, get out!"
  6. All of my wife's old classmates request reading glasses when we go to visit...they can't seem (or don't want to) find readers in China...one guess where they are made?
  7. Lao po, had lots of clothes in the PRC, but doesn't seem as interested in shopping here...only in spurts like at Kohl's last week. She pokes around and looks at everything on the sale racks while I am bored to death, but I'm a good Hotai and suffer through it with a smile. She has lost 10# since we found out she had type 2 diabetes...she got a pair of new jeans, size 4P..."P" means tiny hinney I think. She did love Goodwill because of all of the small sizes and low prices. But she has been a very easy keeper while here in the US.
  8. Lets hope, I have seen where the ASC fails to get message and puts you down as a no show causing more problems. I have also seen no problems with walking in early too. Also lets hope they don't call you in for an interview while out of the country either. There is a box on their letter where you check if you can't keep the appointment. I wrote below it requesting them to reschedule it after we return...I sent the 2 copies they wanted and kept a copy incase I have to go to "Plan Bravo"...Like you said, "Let's hope..." Thank you Dan
  9. I would sure visit her a few times to learn more about her, family and culture. And then use the fiancee visa to check things out when she comes to the US. Can't be to carefull, imho. Good luck, amigo!
  10. Ol' DC will be missed by many. The videos were reall great as was the music and the clothes...I remember coming home from the Marines and getting a pair of big bell bottomed Levis'...Am I the only one who misses bell bottoms?
  11. I like his "in you face" interviews...hellofalot better than wormy Diane Sawyer.
  12. I always encourage my wife to chat with other Chinese people we come across. I know that she enjoys chatting in her own tongue and comparing notes. We are always getting extra veggies at the farmers market, food at the restaurants and better prices from Chinese merchants. We are looking at homes in the city and she points out areas where she sees Asians living...interesting.
  13. We received the letter giving us a biometrics appointment date & time. We'll be in the PRC at that time so I sent the form back with the date of our return on it. Mailed the original to ASC in VA and a copy to ASC in VT. Did this per instructions so all should be in order when we return.
  14. I agree that airlines have gone crazy as a shithouse rat and crookeder as a snake crawling up a hog wire fence...fees for extra bags, pay for your food, pay extra for a seat with more leg room and kiosks where you do the desk clerks job...where will it all end? So I thought it's time to cash in some Continental miles on our next trip to the PRC. I got the Lao po and I tickets from JAX to PEK and return for $79 and 260K miles. :happydance:
  15. Thank you for your comments...Oh well, nothing to do while they are backed up, but roll with the flow. We aren't interested in citizenship, only being free to travel.
  16. I have pleanty of ACCO fasteners leftover and lots of photos for them to peruse. Thank you very much, Dan.
  17. That's perdy good, Tsap...my Tiger Wife's family have dumpling restaurants and they are, "slap yo grandma good, jaozi", ya hear? Many years ago I was taking a taxi back to my hotel in Dalian. I noticed that I saw the same things twice on his second lap around town...I gave him the fish eye along with some ass chewing...when we got to the hotel I gave him the money he asked for, knowing that he shorted himself by 10 rmb...about ten minutes later he knocked on my door crying to me...I put him off until he got pissed at me and then gave him the money. I still laugh about it.
  18. I'm sending off our I-751 petition the first of April to Vermont...hope they are not as backed up.
  19. This is very helpful information for me and the links were a great help. I am now getting ready to send our I-751 package to Vermont. I have a couple questions... Will USCIS really take a personal check? Do I need to enclude 2 photos of my wife? Should I fasten this small (70 pages) petition with those 2 prong fasteners that I used for the I-130?
  20. Ying and I went to the Chinese New year Gala at U.F. Sunday night. Surprisingly the place was packed. There were dance and music performances by young people and a skit that lasted to long and was very boring even for those who spoke the language. There were people continually walking the aisles, talking, cell phone lights and kids running around. The program really need an hour of fireworks. We got home around 2300 and Ying commenced making dumplings...she's a real trooper. Xin Nian Kuai Le, y'all!
  21. I don't rmember how I found Oasis. Prior to using Oasis I used an agency in South Florida, maybe Lauderdale. I don't think there is a visa agency out there that's any better. This visa went up in cost since my last one 2 years ago...it was $214.99 with the standard speed/service for a 2 year, multi entrance...plus postal money order, certified mail and return receipt brought the total price over $223. Que sera', right?
  22. I used "Oasis China Visa Service" for several visas and they have treated me like a "VIP", indeed. Once I was $5 short and they called and I get nice e-mails from them. I just applied for a new visa and went through the new form and requirements and sent it off last Friday the 20th...today the 23rd I got a call from them requesting that I fax a copy of Hu po Green Card....this in addition to the marriage certificate, passport page of Hu po and mine. The Green Card copy wasn't on the original list of things, but it was nice of them to call. She said it was required for me to get another 2 year/multi visa. They must keep a customer record, because she knew I had been a repeat customer of several years. It's a good outfit...they have an office in WDC and one in the building with the PRC Consulate in Alexandria.(I think)
  23. Yup, "Luck's" always packed a punch fer me too...Your fireworks are gonna be funnier than a one legged cat trying to bury a turd in a frozen pond.
  24. We decided not to go to China this CNY, but had missgivings last night as we watched a local celebration... Xin Nian Kuai Le!
  25. Joe, was a leader and an example for many years...but he should have never lacked leadership when informed of the child abuse. I guess he justified it by telling himself that he was protecting his own.
