  1. My single guys statement was notarized, blessed by my secretary of state and sent to Houston and blessed again by the PRC Conciliate...I guess with there stamp on it I didn't need it to be translated. It was 2 pages stapled together and I removed the staple to Xerox a copy...they saw the extra staple holes and it was like I stole a brick out of the Great Wall...it took a friend in a high place to call and tell them I was a coo-el dude to fix it. And don't let it go out of date...only good for 6 months, even if kept refrigerated. Good luck.

    XP Xmas plans?

I got an e-mail from an old Marine buddy of mine who is in Nanning, yesterday. He said the lights are up and the whole city was out doing Christmas shopping. It was to insane for him so he went back to the apartment. He also wrote that nobody has any idea who or what Santa Claws is. Lift your glass and toast cultural imperialism.
  3. @Dan...my wife's VO was the first African-American she had ever seen in person. She did the whole interview in Chinese and she (a Chinese language professor) said he spoke excellently...the interview was a breeze. Be sure to instruct her well on answering the question: Are you or have you ever been a member of the CCP? It's important to get that one right. My wife was had the very last number given out and it was 1220 when she showed her smiling face and pink paper...oh happy day! Good luck to y'all.
  4. They sure know how to move large volumes of people in China...last time in Wuhan I was amazed at seeing a million Citron taxis on the streets.
  5. Yes when renewing a 10 year permanent card all that is filed is an I-90 to apply for a new card, that is all along with having biometrics done for renewal. One additional note USCIS will not automatically revoke residency if a 10 year card expires, an LPR is for life hence Permanent in LPR, so if for some reason LPR fails to apply to renew the 10 card before expire, simply renew it ASAP. This is sure good to know...thank you, Don
  6. Tsap, Y'all is as dumb as a coal bucket if'n you think I dun know guitar riffs from squeeky singin'...Imma expert on Peking opera 'cause my Hu ma singz and dances it all the time 'round the house. Now ol Tsap I'm gonna forgive ya 'cause I know that y'all is blind in one ear and can’ t see out of the other one and you're family tree has no branches...good talkin' atcha agin...Zhou Zhou Top
  7. As a parent I agree that this is a horrible nightmare and I also weep.
  8. Are you saying that the I-90 is the only thing you fill out and send in? No IRS copies, no joint ownership docs, no letters from friends, just a form and a biometrics?
  9. I remember my first trip to the PRC. It didn't even dawn on me that there would be even passable R 'n' R...was I surprised! The clubs all over the country had some fantastic bands. And their MTV really surprised me too. They've been making music for thousands of years and they have the tonal language so there's no reason why they shouldn't... Thinkin' 'bout it now, if I had half a brain then, my head would be tilted.
  10. According to USA Today: 22 Children, 1 Adult Hurt in China Primary School Story Highlights The attacker, 36-year-old local villager Min Yingjun, is in police custody The attack in the Henan province village of Chengping happened as students were arriving for class A county hospital administrator says the man first attacked an elderly woman, then students BEIJING (AP) — A knife-wielding man injured 22 children and one adult outside a primary school in central China as students were arriving for morning classes Friday, police said, the latest in a series of periodic rampage attacks at schools and kindergartens. The attack in the Henan province village of Chengping happened shortly before 8 a.m., said a police officer from Guangshan county, where the village is located. The attacker, 36-year-old villager Min Yingjun, is now in police custody, said the officer, who declined to give her name, as is customary among Chinese civil servants. A Guangshan county hospital administrator said the man first attacked an elderly woman, then students, before being subdued by security guards who have been posted across China following a spate of school attacks in recent years. He said there were no deaths among the nine students admitted, although two badly injured children had been transferred to better-equipped hospitals outside the county. A doctor at Guangshan's hospital of traditional Chinese medicine said that seven students had been admitted, but that none were seriously injured. Neither the hospital administrator nor the doctor would give his name. It was not clear how old the injured children were, but Chinese primary school pupils are generally 6-11 years old. A notice posted on the Guangshan county government's website confirmed the number of injured and said an emergency response team had been set up to investigate the attacks. No motive was given for the stabbings, which echo a string of similar assaults against schoolchildren in 2010 that killed nearly 20 and wounded more than 50. The most recent such attack took place in August, when a knife-wielding man broke into a middle school in the southern city of Nanchang and stabbed two students before fleeing. Most of the attackers have been mentally disturbed men involved in personal disputes or unable to adjust to the rapid pace of social change, underscoring grave weaknesses in the antiquated Chinese medical system's ability to diagnose and treat psychiatric illness. In one of the worst incidents, a man described as an unemployed, middle-aged doctor killed eight children with a knife in March 2010 to vent his anger over a thwarted romantic relationship.
  11. Great suggestion, Don. The wife still feels an attachment to the Fatherland. I'm hoping the China will begin granting dual citizenship's. We'll see, we have time. Thanx again
  12. Like many others I would have been lost without the help of the veteran members here at CFL...thank you for your knowledge, your time and support over the past years. Y'all have been there for me from I-130 right up to today when lao po received her 10 year green card. Cheers, ZZ
  13. My dear Ying, is now a U.S. resident for another ten years and has received her new Permanent Resident Card. This was an easy "Hurdle" only involving 45 pages of paper, $590, a day in Jacksonville, FL and a 255 day wait. Cynically speaking, no more hoops to jump through for 10 years, but I ain't bettin' on nuthin'. Thank you again, Dan for all your great advice and help. ZZ
  14. The same thing happened to us. We sent in for the change of appointment and fortunately it was after our return from China. They told us she would get her new green card in 3 months...that was four months ago. We are breathlessly waiting, like you.
  15. At 13 years old he may have been as confused as a baby in a topless bar.
  16. I've seen drivers use the wrong lane as much as the correct one in, Fuzhou....it's chaos!
  17. I went to the Washington web site and printed out their Chinese drivers manual. Also a friend in CA sent me a link to theirs. (Funny thig today...my lao po noticed a bus stopped and loading a passenger in a wheel chair. She asked me why all of the traffic was lined up and waiting behind the bus...why didn't they all go around? I told her that they would be in my lane with me...she told me there was plenty of room for many cars in my lane with me. I got a mental picture of how it would have been in China)
  18. Indeed, Tsap we had our own tastes in design. Ying, really has a big laugh (me too) at the young men with their pants down below the cheeks of their ass...she keeps asking me why...I tell her it's the fashion and that's what they would tell her. Right?
  19. Last month we were walking around a fancy upscale shopping mall in Fuzhou and I saw some nicely dressed young women wearing the glasses without any glass...what a hoot! I had told the wife to be on the look out for them. We both had a good laugh.
  20. When I'm in SoCal I'm fillin' up with comida mexicana or some of them Salvadoran, pupuses con cueso...ain't thinkin' 'bout no jaozi.
  21. Herb Reed, the last surviving original member of 1950s vocal group the Platters who sang on hits like "Only You" and "The Great Pretender," has died. He was 83. Reed died on Monday in a Boston area hospice after a period of declining health that included chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, manager Fred Balboni said. Reed was a Kansas City, Mo., native who founded the Platters in Los Angeles in 1953. Then a quartet, the group won amateur talent shows, and performed nights and weekends up and down the California coast while the members worked days at a car wash and at other odd jobs. Reed came up with the group's name, inspired by '50s disc jockeys who called their records platters. The group underwent several lineup changes, even adding a woman singer to become a quintet, before signing their first major recording contract in 1955. Reed sang bass on the group's four No. 1 hits, including "The Great Pretender," ''My Prayer," ''Twilight Time" and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." The Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. Their recordings are in the Grammy Hall of Fame. http://www.gainesville.com/article/20120605/ENT/120609796/1006/NEWS?Title=Platters-founder-Herb-Reed-dies-at-83-
  22. My tai tai brags about the age of here clothes, shoes and handbags all the time...she's proud of this fact.
  23. Several years ago I e-mailed a cousin and described a handbag my girlfriend had bragged about. My cousin is a handbag hound and wrote back that it was a, Fendi and worth >$3,000. Not believing that anyone would spend that much money on a bag while people go hungry and kids die from amoebas, I decided to check the internet for the facts. I found the handbag on a website and the MSRP was $3,500...my g/f told me she bought it in Taiwan for $45...my cousin begged me to bring her a half dozen.
  24. We took care of the medical exams in Fuzhou and flew round trip to Guangzhou. We stayed in a hotel for 3 nights. One day I went to the US Citizens Hour and had pages added to my passport and the next day was the wife's marathon interview....about $1.000 not much more if any.
