Carl, Same thing happened to us last year. They sent her 10yr GC back along with her US passport. Still have it and don't know what to do with it. Kellie's adopton was this past November and we sent her passport back for name change and they sent her old one back with several holes punched in the bottom across where the numbers are, No charge foe the name change. When we were in the Chinese Consulate in Chicago last spring some people had the corners cut off of the Chinese visa, but Ella and Kellie's was intact.. Just make sure you take it with you to the Conuslate before you travel and they will give it back.

Since it's their error I would think there would be no charge for the correction. Ella's GC had Yi, family name, married name. Tine

Carl, 1. After your wife gets citizenship certificiate apply for wife and step daughters passports at the same time. 2. You will send your wifes original certificate along with the other documents asked for. 3. Passport office will return orginal documents along with passports. I had to get new passport for my daughter after the adoption and the documents arrived a day or two after the passport. Tine

MRMC, I just completed the adoption process of my stepdaughter this past November, it took just over 10 months to complete. I know every state has a different process, My Atty. placed an add in a small local paper for 3 weeks stating my intent for the adoption. We had no idea where the natural father was, he had not seen her since the age of 2. Then had to have extensive home inspection and 2 different interviews for some reason it is the same process as being a foster parent. My wife's chinese name was Yi, she worked of a large travel company and everone had American names and used every day, due to fact that they worked with Canada and American Airlines. So I have always called her Ella and my adtoped daughter Shanyu has always used Kelly since she was in grade school in China. When Ella became a citizen she changed her name to Ella and when I adopted Kelly she decided to change the spelling to Kellie. Tine
