Yan had hers noterized in china for around 400 RMB and she had copies of that for around 25 /copy translated into english. Anyone going through this process in the future should get several copies of birth and divorce papers while in China to bring into the US with them.

With this law then would you have easier time to get SS number ??? If you check "Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work," you must provide a document from a U.S. Federal, State, or local government agency that explains why you need a Social Security number A federal law that requires people to supply their Social Security number when applying for a marriage license

Interview question about Ex-wife
lostinblue replied to johnpatrickcasey's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
these are very personal questions and I think they should not be asked in the interview You are in the land of GUZ and like the land of oz you will give them any thing they desire... inside that building they are .....GOD.... like being in the service..... someone says jump you say how high... SIR No matter if you are the CEO of a major corporation or a factory worker we are all the same at interview time ...they ask we give ... -
I have a friend who is chinese . She gave me this advice, Give the relationship a year before you meet. Wait another year before you decide to marry. It did not go that slow with Yan and myself but something to think about. My friend was worried about scammers also. When I went to China to meet Yan I also told her that marriage was an inportant decision and too inportant to think about marriage at that moment. I told her there was no way I would even discuss it until long after I returned home. Later she confessed to me that she was not ready to discuss marriage at that time as we hardly knew each other.Just take it slow. Both of you are well past being a teenager. You have to be honest with her to a point of maybe loosing her as to what type a person you are . Be candid about some of your faults and see where the dice will play out. I dated a chinese woman years before I met Yan so I was a bit trained before Yan and I got serious. My ex girlfriend even called Yan on several occasions and settled her nerves as to my intentions were. She said I was a good and honest person. That was a home run for me that you will not have. so yes you must show her by your actions. This does not mean throwing money around to impress her like you would an American date. Most Chinese women are thrifty to a fault,If you meet one that is not unless you are loaded think about running like hell......Yan made good money in China and had a life style better than most but she spent 3 hours on the internet one night trying to book us a hotel room for less than $40.00 and we often took a bus rather than spring for a taxi. On the flip side this week she bought a pair of pants at Wallmart for $2.50 . She was proud of herself walking out of that store.....THRIFTY.... Learn her culture if you marry you will live it maybe more than you would like Show her respect and kindness....After meeting Yans parents we were leaving and I carried most of the packages so Yan would not have to struggle. That was a most favorable in her family's eyes. (due to my previous training ) I understood this before hand. I wish you all the luck....Go over there and enjoy yourself. If you find common ground with this woman and you think it will work out great. If not it is not the end of the world. If you like the culture and decide to try again there are many out there. You just have to land someone who is suitable for you..If you find the right one she will walk through hell for you......make no mistake Enjoy the ride my friend .

TB is a pretty bad thing to have, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and Latin America Countries are all known for their high % of TB cases. I dont think the USA Government will ever stop testing immigrants for TB. Any one read how that will be handled in the next immigration bill?

http://www.indepthinfo.com/potato/safety.shtml Light will cause the formation of solanine on the skin of the potato. Though not likely to cause serious harm, green skinned potatoes can taste bitter and may result in temporary digestive discomfort. When confronted by green skin on a potato, simply peel it away. Keep as much of the rest of the skin as possible. For this is where most of the vitamins reside.

How come no one is reporting interviews?
lostinblue replied to mchina34's topic in Interview Results
I have done both ways ....english or chinese both made it into china.I made it a point to put People's Republic of China in english on all packages. Read somewhere that a person put China and letter was sent to another country .I was told once by a postal employee that they wanted only english or chinese but not both on same package. -
Yan said do it as soon as possible......soul will follow ashes around

I would not send it in with the present form - I would nevr chance that and have who knows how long of a delay I vote for you to find another CS and also get the vaccinations - they are a good idea and are cheap insurance over your loved one contracting a preventable disease Just went to the CS today..Yan had one round of shots and a blood test for varicella.(from the health department) He signed the form and charged us $35.00 (Thanks dnoblett he was a real nice man to work with)This is a sealed form to send in . Am I correct in reading that it should be sealed . He seemed to know what he was doing as he cautioned us that some people have had the medical papers lost while in transit from K process to AOS and would need full medical if that happens. I have no Idea what he checked. He said that Buffalo would charge $100 for K visa's He would do full medical for $100 and Buffalo would charge $500.00

Help with Family Name Change
lostinblue replied to scott1956's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
I may have read that some where. That you may need to get remarried in order to change your name. Or maybe the town clerk mentioned that when we applied for our marriage license. For SS card. -
That's total BS! Everyone has to do a I1864 for the AOS, right? I don't want to hijack the thread, but it mentions in the second link, that the sponsor is responsible for the immigrant until the immigrant reaches 40 credits. How long does it take to accumulate one working credit? It would appear that the disproportionate use of benefit programs by the foreign-born is confined largely to Supplemental Security Income program for the aged, blind, and disabled. This is not too surprising when one considers eligibility criteria for the main source of income for the elderly, the social security program. Social security requires beneficiaries or the spouses of beneficiaries to have worked for forty quarters, which is ten years. It is much more likely that native-born Americans as compared with immigrants, will meet the work-quarter requirement. Most, though not all, social security recipients would be income ineligible for SSI. By contrast, needy elderly who do not receive social security generally qualify for SSI. http://www.utexas.edu/lbj/uscir/032795.html I think it is around 800 Dollars per quarter year you need to count(not certain)

A book for everyone to read. We here in america also destroy many old buildings that should be saved. From an agricultural slant there are many old barns being torn down across the country as their usefullness has run its course. The more you repair (or restore) them the higher your taxes will be. Put new siding and a coat of paint on your home and see how high your taxes will be at the next accessment.A lot of people who restore grand old homes have seen their parents do the same thing

This has been one of the better post placed on candle for a while. To have prepared for everything and still not pass the interview can do a number on you. In this situation you must remain calm and give them what they desire. This is a clear example where a blue slip is not the end of the world ,just one more set back.It is kind of like a boxing match you suck it up and go in for another round. You just never give up, you keep fighting. Yan and I were married a few weeks ago and the preacher mentioned if we had thought about how easy it was to get married and if we were really ready to be married. What flashed through my mind was "hell yes and we even have a VO's permission along with the US government". We wish you a good life......... Kinda makes you think how people cope with a situation like this without candle

Talked to our health department in monroe county and they will give the shot for $106.00. Was informed that it is not covered by health insurance for adults. I was told that we could have a blood test done to see if yan was exsposed at a younger age and that would be proof no shot was needed. Anyone out there had this happen and have it accepted as proof for AOS and signed off by civil surgeon

Yan told me we have better places to use the money than for a diamond ring. Few women in China wear one.
