Prepare to have you luggage opened by BCIS. You will hate them after your trip. They opened my luggage everytime I transfered planes on my trip to New Zealand (US airports). You can lock your bags when you check in at China Airport because you will have to claim your bags at the POE. After that unlock them. It seems that my luggage was rolled end over end alot so avoid fragile items in your bags. I suggest putting all the items in plastic bags inside the luggage. When they close the lids they don't care if articles are hanging out. My lap top did make it through inspection safely and securely.

There ia shuttle bus' from GZ to HK. I have seen them advertised but never used them. I have always crossed the border on foot at Shenzhen, take the train one stop then catch the #34 (I could be wrong about the bus#, 30-something) bus to the airport. It will be very hot and humid this time of year. I hope you prepare for it. You have to pack alot of luggage out, in the heat. Carry a small towel to wipe the perspiration, wear a cowboy hat to attract more stares, sunglasses and always wear your sunscreen. After they finish questioning you tell them you have a list of about 237 questions concerning their procedures. Affirm that it is good that they scheduled you for a morning appointment and if you work hard you should be able to finish by 5pm. With your fiancee there you don't mind proceding in either language Mandarin or English. It would be best if they gave you the stool and they stood during this procedure. Important questions like; Why are you so slow? Why do you lose documents? Do you make a special effort to be unfriendly? Do you have a college degree? I sent my "press release" to npr and mark fiore. NOA2 April 9 2002, P4 Nov. 11, 2002, Interviewed Oct 30, 2002 submit and resubmit... I wrote an endearing story of how we met and the false hope that we have had with each resubmittal for the press release. The press like facts with human suffering. Or is that inhumane suffering.

I just got back from meeting my sweetie in New Zealand. I got her enrolled in the University of Otago Language studies for three months. She is safe and the country is friendly. Many Chinese go there on student visa and immigrate there. It is winter there and terribly cold but bless her Nothern China heart, she is not affected. She was placed in the highest level class and has a great flat close to school. My trip there was mostly work getting her set up. She is safe so lets start the rumble!

Mick, How are policies changed at schools? If the students complain to the school administration do they change? Are the students seen as credible enough to warrant change? But, if the professors complain to the administration there is a greater likelyhood that some change could occur. Or, the professors know the right place to voice the complaint. The more the professors complain about the students complaining to them the greater chance of change or special attention. I know GZ is unable to do anything about the state-side checks but they need to get us off their backs. If not GZ whose back should we climb on? As a group we need to bug someone.

I think we should email GZ. They can make Harty do things if we pressure them enough.

If only there was a way to seperate her from her boyfriend for a little while, say about a year. Then she could email herself and ask for help. Ha ha. A close read of some of those articles explains why there is a black hole. According to one of the articles "Harty is unsuited to execute key, family-uniting, visa-granting duties." We need to make some noise.

Tom that sounds like a great idea. A strong letter but a bit long. I agree that we need to do something to get their attention. I thought about taking out an ad in the Washington Post. Seriously, you have waited a long time and I hope they do respond to your letter.

Since you are proficient at Cantonese you might just stick to Hong Kong or Macau. Or you might learn from the snow birds and go North in the Summer and South in the Winter.

I have sent a few emails to CA lately and have gotten no reply yet. The first one about two weeks ago I also sent to GZ. Would you believe that RA answered me directly! I contested that there is nothing different about my fiancee's background and all the other women that are getting approved. He replied on 4/29; That seemed different and a little comforting to me. I know it still means I am not any closer yet. Today I called DOS and after their usual delay they said we can not tell you if her name has cleared yet but it was one that we walked over to the (security clearance officer) about 10 days ago. They are supposed to give us the result in 10 days. I was a bit stunned, expecting her to say still pending, and can not remember exactly what her name for the security clearance officer or department was. She did say "walked (it) over". I told her I remember the two weeks in January but that her answer sounds different than "still Pending". She replied very confidently "yes it is very different". Have any other hold'ers gotten such an answer from 1225?
