I received on clarification on that specific case thingy. It is just as I thought, they are only refering to the blackhole; "Unfortunately, there is not much more that we can tell you about the status of Ms. X's clearance. The required clearance cannot be issued until an interagency process has been completed. Occasionally, one or another of the agencies involved in this process informs us that it needs more time to reach a decision on an individual case. This is known as "placing a hold" on the case. We do not know why a hold was put on Ms. X's case, but we can tell you that other cases are also on hold. " I hope that is just their way of saying still pending...

My original letter that LP responded to asked why am I being treated unfairly as others are being processed faster than I am. I claimed unfair treatment; "I want you to address this issue and the unfair treatment the others and I are receiving from the DOS. This delay is unnecessary and cruel." Still there is a hold and no new clearances.

What is going on with this delay? I have never seen anything take so long to be accomplished unless it is just not going to happen. The Govt. wants us to forget about it. They just want us to fade away. My fiancees argument that we are being swept under the carpet is better than mine stating we are not. I have never seen so many people working together without any success. Harty has told me that she is the one responsible for the delay. I asked that specific question. This is her job, AS has returned to his regular duties. Bush is busy with war and the rest of the Nation is focused on the war also. Snow removal in DC gets national media coverage and we don't. In the recent response from LisaP they state that there is a hold on the process. They know something. What are they hiding? What can I tell my fiancee that has never belonged to any political organization nor traveled outside China before? Sorry dear, due to you having no record you are a terrorist? Because we hurried and turned in all our forms before August we can not be together? What do the rest of you tell your fiancees? Is there an honest answer or just a fading candle?

P.J., I just read this thread and am shocked and sorry for you. How dare she take advantage of you like that. She knew from the start that you were faithful to her and the commitment was for marriage. You did right by being swift about it. What was she thinking you were doing, working so hard. You have found what a great Man you are. All the work, organizing and advocating is you! No one can take that from you. You are hurt now because you are able to love. Again, that is who you are and you can do that again when you are ready. I don't blame you for being mad and bitter now or posting things about her. As a CFL member you have my blessing to do so. Can we sue the government over this delay problem. It seems they are treating us unfairly. Of course it would take a long time to resolve and will not solve our immediate problem but could return some gratification. It would also help the future K visa applicants. We could each get enough to cover plane fare or something as a group. Any thoughts on this?

I seem to get the same person all week, do they take one week shifts at answering the queue? Any othersexperience this?

I called the 1225 line, knowing that they are the bottom of the food chain. The woman took a long time to check, asked my fiancees name, then asked my name and phone number. She stated they are making a list and investigating and perhaps calling back. Any other unusual responses from 1225?

Where are they getting the news about the clearances??? I was on hold with DOS for one hour and two minutes before they answered to tell me still pending. Congrats to you Ana.

Like everything else Guangzhou lost them, probably. They must have fallen down in the mail room and got covered by all the files that are stored there. Now we will have to recreate them. lol I am anxiously waiting for any news also...

Perhaps Jason has a point. I keep assuming that GZ has modern day computers and trained staff. It could be like the old days when files were only physical items, not digital. I agree with the concept that those that have been waiting the longest deserve to be informed first. This applies to the backlog group as new interviewees have their security clearances done before they interview. They should be given paper slips until we are finished. I have lots of suggestions for GZ but would prefer giving my money to Owen for travel and representation instead of to GZ. Shamian Island is lovely but the US Consulate there leaves alot to be desired. The consulate should just finish with the backlog this weekend, it is a National embarassment. I think I just contradicted myself as that would cost more tax money, but labor rates are low in China...
