I am jealous that you all are getting such fast replies from CA. I sent a email to them and GZ over a week ago. I received a direct reply from GZ officer "... stateside law enforcement agencies have not issued a clearance for your fiancée. I agree that there is nothing about her that indicates she shouldn't get a clearance,...". I hope it means CA is still trying to get a thorough answer.

It seems they must be on holiday all the time. How long does it take to do a name check? I have watched a Nation become liberated faster than they can do a name check for my girl. I don't think anyone doubts what you said.. We have all met these people doing business outside the consulate and it is their credibility that is in question not yours. They are not the most reliable source of information. They told me I would certainly be denied but they were wrong. There have been other rumors about less interviews being scheduled after May 12 but another member shared that his fiancee has an interview after that date. It would be a bad thing if GZ did indeed close for a few months. Perhaps our expert of getting info (Don) will watch for additional sources.

Is it only me or isn't the VISA EAGLE the way they used to do the check? If no response after 10 days they can continue. We used to call it the background check. It used to occur between P3 and P4. They have been slow in their replies and not very thoughtful at all. GZ is always a cut and paste letter. I got the same letter as lilybotelho after 2 weeks wait. I almost forgot what I wrote to them it was such a long wait.

No kidding our delay is not based on a security concern. We have known that from the begining! Yes, it is a glitch in their system not ours. My sweetie doesn't even stay out past her bedtime. People offering help outside are over priced and mostly want to be nosey. They are good for giving directions if you befriend them. By the time you have made it to the consulate, you don't need them.

I heard that some people that have recently received their green cards have their fiancees come to the US as a student. What is the intention there? I wonder how many others are getting their fiancees here while I wait.

Sorry about that response Nicole. They are being careful on how they define "hold". It sounds like a form letter and unfortunately does not give us any new information. Who has a hold, why is there a hold? So many names are submitted and so few are on hold. What makes one on hold and not another? We'll keep asking until they lift it. If they are tired of us asking then lift the hold.

My name check is still on hold and my fiancee has to wait while this SARS epidemic rages. I am afraid that the DOS could delay this so long that she could get ill. Wisely, she stays away from crowded places, as if that is possible in China. But even a ride on an elevator could be dangerous. I hope not to lose my dream of a beautiful life to this disease.

When I call the 1225 line they refer me to my Congressman. My Congressman mentioned that they have laisons (embedded) in the Embassy and DOS. Isn't there a Congressional committee or just a Senate committee?
