  1. yeah, check your adapter. some will have dual voltages and will work in worldwide. my sony laptop worked in china just fine without an adapter. china uses 220 volts. also IBM laptops work just fine also. if your in luck you laptop adapter will say this INPUT: 100-240V if not, then find an adaptor that converts 220 to 110 and some will say low or high. you need low for a laptop. usually anything under 50 watts. also some area's in china use 3 differenc kinds of plugs. usually its like ours, 2 slits | |, but in some areas i've seen these two as well / \ and o o also in some cities there's a city wide internet access number. usually a 5 digit number. all you need to do is dial that and it will apply just normal local phone charges to the bill. the local operator should be able to tell you this number for internet access. hope this helps joe
  2. well one of them was a reply to somone asking about phone cards. i didnt start that post. thanks for just taking out of context. and the shipping questions are related to china. like many other posts i have seen asking about china like plane flights, phone cards, shipping, i never had a probelm and its has nothing to do with lives together. again there all related to the dealings with china. Im just saying that when i was apart from my wife for so long and i saw these happy go lucky posts about how happy people are together while I sat at home day in and day out alone, depressed, and what not, i got jealous. it was like people were rubbing it my face that they got faster time lines and that i got fucked. If im the only one who waited so so long for my loved one and felt this way then so be it. my wife is aready here now, i wasn't doing this all for me or anything. I thought there were some people out there still waiting in this horrible gut renching process who felt the same and i was trying to say something. seems im wrong. well thats good. im glad people didn't feel what i felt. it was an awful feeling p.s. you obviously dont have better things to do Michael
  3. then why is there a A life together section.. ?? whats the point if your gonna post off topic issues in this seciton. if they wanna read about how there cutie pie did on there driving test or that they learned how to use a garabage disposal then they will go there and they can read all they want. but most people come here for visa information. cirtical information about timelines and processing. you all act like im trying to ban this type of post, i am not, im just saying there is a section for it and this is not it.
  4. well for people who are going on for a year plus wait, its not appropriate.
  5. O/T is right. please post your driving experiences in A Life Together ... section. This is not the first time you've done this. This section is general discussion for visa delays. Families are apart and there hearts are crying. They dont need to hear about this stuff. Have some decency.
  6. hey, they seems like a good price. can you give me anymore info on that company. She's in Hangzhou. but can get to Shanghai also. tell me if you know that name of the company and any number and if there is a website address. thanks so much
  7. yes i did, they are asking for like $100 per 1kg. my items are like 9kg each. there bycicles. could be considered Freight.
  8. does anyone know of a shipping company that can ship large items like bycicles by boat from china to the u.s.? would really help out. thanks
  9. I experienced the hellish joy of going to a BCIS districe office today as well. They made a mistake on my wifes green card and had to apply for a correction. this was our 3rd attempt getting to the building. we arrived at 7am and didnt get out until 2:30pm. yep, 7 1/2 hours. god. just awful. standing for 2 hours, sitting for 5.5 with no water and shareing a brownie with my wife. Thank you BCIS
  10. Hi people, I have put together the washington state drivers handbook in chinese format. here is a link to my space, but i will take it down after a week, so if candle can put it somewhere else for other to use in the future that would be great. Enjoy! http://users.dslextreme.com/~orbitalpunk/d...esehandbook.pdf
  11. about showing proof of your address. instead of needing a bank account and waiting for them to mail a statement, just keep the letter that came with your green card when in came in the mail. well this if for CR-1'ers at least. oh, does anyone know if DMV makes a DMV guide book in chinese?
  12. Hi ya folks. Just sharing my wife's and I experience entering customs at the airtport with a CR-1 visa packet in hand. Well she went to the first customs counter for non-u.s. citizens and presented her passport and visa packet only. they did not ask for the X-ray or any health books whatsoever. They just asked how long she and i knew each other. then she was escorted to another desk with a different customs officer and there they opened the visa packet and went thru all the pappers. they still did not ask for the xray or any health books. she was stamped with an Alien number in her passport. she then filled out a form for applying for her SS# and green card. they said it should arrive in the mail in 2 weeks. also she was able to change her name right then and there and signed these documents with her new name. so her SS# and green card will already have her new last name. pretty simple. i was worried i had to reaply for the green card and SS# again with the new name change. but it was all done in one shot. well that's all folks...
  13. hi, what is this letter saying? what pettition are they talking about? its a bit vague to me. did anyone have to deal with this? thanks again http://users.dslextreme.com/~orbitalpunk/letter.jpg
