  1. One day I may go there to live if it still like this. I got depressed for 6 weeks on my return to the USA after my first to trips, which were all business before I met HER. I feel that closeness fits ME. So who knows. Single or married I may do it. can't see that far away yet.
  2. That part I enjoyed. Also in one of the little towns I was in the children and adults were all out doing something at night, even if freezing outside. Teenagers in a building playing music. Older folks in a room singing old songs together, children running around on the street playing games and chasing each other as you describe. People eating out in little outside tent resturaunts. 2 girls riding bicycles and they talk to each other with such deep friendship that I could FEEL IT, then part ways at the Y in the road. A woman talking to her husband and it sounds like a song, she has such deep respect. There was no fear and no threat of any violence or crime anywhere to be found. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO PEACFUL!!! Thus, I fell in love with the Chinese.
  3. Beside what is said about Bush rattling swords here, I think why now is why anytime Dave. It boils down to them having enough good weapons to make China stand-off hopefully. If a dumb temptation goes bad and a skirmish breaks out we don't have to decide whether to send ships in or not, if they can handle it, or until we get there. I recall not so long ago a heck of a lot of our NAVY was over there. China threatened by rattling their swords with a lot of their NAVY exercising near by. Yes it is a game, just like the old USSR and the USA's ships scraping sides during the cold war. Countries TEST to see what you will do if they send a sole bomber near by or barely into ones airspace. If nothing then maybe they get bolder. Top this off with a massive build up of modern weapons in China. If I had not seen some of this stuff with my own eyes I would not have believed it. Some of it Korean era stuff being upgraded? Yeah. But I realized what they had they could use to take over everything in that part of the globe. China is working on weapons as good as ours too. We can all talk peace all day long. But until the BULLY sees you have a bigger stick he may not talk at all. He may simply say peace peace all we want is peace then take over your country. Not saying you guys have done this, but I do get so tired of the criticism of the USA by USCs without ever mentioning how bad the bully in the other country is. At one time China was being ruled with an iron fist in communism or a dictatorship and Taiwan was trying to be free. So we have ties to that. A little hard to give up those ties I guess. I get irritated too at some of my conservative friends who still suspect the PRC. But maybe that really is a good thing. Peace through strength. OK, now you can attack me, if you even bothered to read this far I gotta an all night drive ahead of me.
  4. But according to someone I know, I am nothing as well...........and have nothing ........and stupid for living this long in this country with a good job and no house. But for some reason
  5. This was coming for some time. Looks like this is not the ship deal. Maybe that is done or coming. I don't for a minute believe money was the motivation. This is a real touchy situation.
  6. Well to Roger and all of the rest of you and those who read my post I came here to delete my post or cut out a large portion of it and apologize for most of my words, but it has already been used to quote from. I did not have to imply some of the history of some churches nor express any ill toward some that practice their religion the way they do today. It was VERY unchristian of me to do so. I cannot say I have ever been a strong one to live my own beliefs. It troubles me. Self discipline I lack in bucket fulls. So I apologize to all
  7. Hey Dennis I recall all of that back then. I was going to mention Carl posting his bashing warning just to see he already did it again Carl here had to post this quite a few times Sorry to pick on you Carl. Honestly I would then and now bash my daughter and Mom if I saw them act the way I have had wives and step daughters act, or anyone else that is spoiled, including my own spoled American ass .
  8. Roger thanks for posting this. Glad to see your a messenger from God Look if some of you guys knew of some of the trouble I have had and some others have had with their spouse, then you might appreciate the Christian influence that I think Rog is trying to get this thread pointed to. To not give any good credit where it is due just helps me see some short sightedness in your post. If our country did not have any Christian influence you would not expect some of the conduct that you do from others nor would you act the way that you do. Christianity has rubbed off on you whether you like it or not if your raised in America in out time period. As much as I love the Chinese and would prefer to live there, I also have a problem with the unruliness that comes from not having some kind of basis or training to not cheat your fellow man. Corruption is rampant according to my wife and others here. Law enforcement does not motivate people to do good. There has to be some kind of inward motivation and it really helps a society if there is some kind of moral training. We had the Golden Rule when I was in grade school. OK so some of you have had bad experiences, or we can all read of governments who adopted state religions and went out and killed people to convert them to Christianity, when it was all corruption and greed. Those are not good examples and are as bad as radical Islam in many ways and not in others. My wife will probably not join any church. But she regrets some things in her life and now is trying to learn about Christianity to give her some kind of guidance in the do's and don'ts she feels she never got from her parents and to help her teach her daughter. She fears organized religion because of what some guys did in China to control people in th name of Christianity and have them suicide. I certainly don't take her to a church with a preacher wearing Country and Western singer hair and that passes the plate for everyone to see if you drop some $$. Please excuse me if that offends, but I have a few bugs up my rear about some churches too. But even in those the people generally draw a line in their conduct that makes them better neighbors. They police themselves!!!! For some that is what it takes. All of us should owe some degree of gratitude for the moral training Christianity has brought this country and the FREEDOM to chose and not be forced, like so many were in South and Central America for instance. Geese it's late. Did I lock another thread?
  9. So Dennis, are you trying to get Randy to say more than his usual? Sorry Randy. I couldn't resist. (or is there something I missed in another thread?) Geese Dennis at the time I had had it with American women. I saw something over there that grabbed me so deep, on those 2 business trips I took. So when the ol lady left, I turned to China. I will add that I have learned to appreciate Americna women more since being married to this one. Thats another story.
  10. http://www.chinasmack.com/pictures/nanchan...ty-disappoints/ I have never understood how the men in China seem to not notice the rather attractive ladies. I guess they do...........eventually. Well at least she was noticed, and a couple of them didn't mind her face either: http://www.chinasmack.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/long-legged-beauty-in-flood.jpg I don't mind anything
  11. So this visit I let my wife do it all. I didn't interfere with her way of dealing with daughter. She asked me to do this. There was a lot more peace in the home this time. She is taking charge the right way for the most part and Lil One committed to be better to begin with, last week.
  12. I met a not so pretty gal in Beijing in 2002 that was from there. She was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Her attractiveness was her good nature and kindness. Seemed pretty smart too. No she was not a girlfriend. Just an acquaintance but she left an impression with me of how people ought to be that pops into my head from time to time, still.
  13. 2nd thought. Amanda why not go to the coastal city of Tianjin, eat some crab, take the old overnight ship to Dalian in a room for just the 2 of you, visit Dalian for awhile with the things by the water to do, eat more crab, and then trains back through Shenyang, or go just the reverse of this like we did. I loved the boat ride except my wife got a dang room we had to share with 2 engineers. (She won't do that again). Or just turn around and come back on the same boat. Sort of like a mini-cruise. Take your own food aboard ship and trains. Point is on a ship you can get a private room and the train you can't.
  14. Yes and we see why Which brings up a good point. For the OP: Just his being with you is enough. You don't need to go anywhere. Personally I preffered the daily life over all the tourist places. Typical shops off the main road where you get the best deals, as needed, etc, etc. Just have folks take lots of pictures of the two of you together if at any famous places. Gotta work for the interview, unfortunatly.
  15. Jin - don'tI think is bigger problem these days... This applies to some, not all parents: 1. work too much, make no time to really raise / foster their children. 2. corporal punishment is not legal in many places, so basic fear of 'ass-whupping' not so prevalent as it was in my generation. 3. focus and care not always on the children 100 percent of the time. Now , I'm not perfect either, but I strive for something above today's median in the curve. This weekend I wrote an email to my wife covering these points. Lil-One and I need her to pay more attention to the child. Wife needed to overcome her fear of not doing a good job so she kind of over extended her hours and emphasis on work. Now she has earned the good reputation but her daughter does not obey her very well. This has given my wife a lot of stress lately. So points 1 & 3 were stressed a lot in my email and wife began to change her practice the next day. We enacted point 2 already, with my ass whippings, though my wife has no idea when to do this. She used to just let Lil One come and slap her in the face over and over when the child was angry. I put an end to that, whether right or wrong, back when the chop sticks were launched into wife's forehead. Wife and daughter have a natural lack of anger control and when discussing a situation later they try to use anger as an excuse for bad behavior. WRONG! The other problem is their pride which causes revenge to each other in ways. WRONG! Other than that they are perfect sweet angels I don't mean to sound like I am picking on my wife so much. Grandparents took charge of most things with Lil-One until a few months after we married. Wife was a career woman doing the most financially for her family the whole time married to her first husband. And she is the one who got their house, & etc. She just has little confidence in her ability with children and tends to treat them like adults in expectations. She simply feels lost. So point 1 needed reducing and point 3 needed a lot of emphasis. She listens and appreciates my observations and has been seeking advice on what to do to make the family a better place. I pointed out how happy life was in Beijing and that we need to get back to that kind of loving kindness shown by all. She agrees. The change to America has not been very easy for them. Now is this true that corporal punishment is not allowed in some places? Where? Anyone remember thipping or slapping babies hand when the baby would dig his/her claws into Mom enough to draw blood when angry about something?
  16. your from Virginia ? its about family trees from a chinese perspective, ie......#1 inside auntie, fathers oldest sister, #1 ouside auntie mothers sister, inside little brother= your wifes brother to you, him outside uncle to my kids- get it. makes a interesting looking tree. but you knew that really No Texas and we CAN marry our first cousin here Anyway I guess I didn't catch on. If you had something like older brother younger brother then.....well that language isn't it? I had no idea what you meant....really. My wife does say we need to make it a tree when we were in a geneaology class once. My wifes sisters are also a sister to her daughter and to daughter her cousins ARE here sisters and brothers. I have wanted a tree to map it out. I didn't know about big and little. I will ask next visit.
  17. I have no idea what your talking about. Like Michael who married his sister Michelle and they had Mitchel? The Blevins family
  18. ANY CUSHION ON THE COUCH? Glad my wife didn't have one of those where I would have to make such a choice. dang that would mean we would be sleeping on one of those just like she wants dishes washed in cold water. Nooooo waaaay!
  19. Now I have heard you guys talk about these. This is the first time I have seen one even in a pic. I couldn't do it! Some of you guys are brave or just so love crazy....I would retreat to a hotel, but then some of you said they are in hotels????? I could sleep on it if there was a quilt or something on top of that thing. That wouldn't be much different than the carpeted floor I like sometimes. Some talk about the skin being pinched. So really bare ass on that bamboo? What about making love? Seems like that would really really HURT somebody... and the knees-----whew. DANG!
  20. Just for Roger and his posting and locking his own thread. How does he get away with it? Because he is Roger of course. Here Cindy and Sarah just for you: (or did I mean "for Presidnet:?) http://a.abcnews.com/images/Politics/nm_palin_mccain_080903_mn.jpg And for the rest of us to look at. I did cover the electric eyes for safety sake.
  21. Roger, you are the most political snake there is. And you ignore us. Man up President. All presidents are fair game for comedians. Love ya
  22. No little sister I never saw that... And I WOULD NOT advise you to go to that forum anymore... There are a lot of bad boys who hang out there... Just look at the sullen smugness. Keep drifting back into modshipism eh? Well, politics are fine until you get bored with it. Been there, done that. When your ready to join the rest of us are are outside playing. So what? It took you till 60 to get over being 12? Well I grew up once. Didn't like it. But we did buy the best mpg car for the criteria my wife had. Got to keep Lil Rock green you know. If you didn't buy a hybrid from the best auto manufacturer on the planet (HONDA)... I don't need to hear about it... It all gets down to cost and what we/she was willing to gamble on future cost. Honda was the front runner all along, but the return on lower fuel cost vs. the initial price was not worth it. Plus the risk of costly repairs worried her on the hybrid. So the gas civic was her first choice due to cost but didn't want a car that small, since both of us are tall/big and plan on long trips in the thing. So her compromise was a car that beat the Accord in city mpg and a little better on the highway too. Kind of a large Civic the Altima is. But don't read this Roggie We plan on a hybrid or alternative drive in the future after you guys play ginnie pig on getting the bugs out and letting us know the total ownership cost. It is the same with me and new passenger jets. I ain't flying on the 787 when she first comes out. I'll wait 5 years or so. But put me in a new experimental race car and let me fly around in the thing balls to the wall and RISK IT ALL and I will do it. Death is worth it, in that case, but not a boring airplane. I've got 82K on the Hybrid Dougie with ZERO issues...Once again I will reiterate... If there is one manufacturer on the planet that you can depend on to get it right the first time...HONDA...nuff' said... Let me know when you hit over 100K.

Other than all of that I wonder if my wifes place will actually sell in Beijing, for what she wants. She does not want to remodel due to renters trashing the place.
