1. That is what I have been noticing with K1's.
2. The average time has been one month between P3 and P4. Then 2 months from P4 to interview. Since you don't really get a P3, I have no idea.
3. I put how to change the name in the AOS FAQ... can happen at almost any point for K1: on marriage cert, at SS office, at AOS... 190067 David no link?
4. I will call DOS next Wed and will receive my April interview date.
5. Sorry, Patrick, best to keep personal contact information away from public view. 190012 Shei Shei Ni Frank, I didn't know. Patrick 190019 Shei Shei. Nice!
6. So for a K1 we can't legally change her last name until after she receives her green card? Does that mean if I put her on my bank account and insurance soon after she arrives, I have to use her chinese last name?
7. Is she talking about given name or family name? My SO has a simple given name and that won't be changed. She's chinese and I love everything that is chinese about her. Including her name.
8. Nope. But I almost went blind trying to read your post.
9. Well that's kind of a bummer that you don't use it anymore, do you feel you have gotten your money's worth from it? I'm just kinda worried about spending 400 bucks on something I'm only going to use on a few trips to China. 189272 Have your SO pick up a cheap model in China. I used to tell my SO while I was in China with her to change input to english. I would then put english word in and then she would translate to chinese. 189287 I thought that was the point ! Buy in china and use the English to chinese direction for the USC... It should be one or two clicks... I don't think you need to tell your SO to do it for you though... If you can post on CFL, you can use a chinese pocket translator 189332

11. Welcome aboard Patrick. Please let us know why the denial as soon as you know. I was eating pizza while looking at your website. For some reason I'm feeling quite a bit of guilt.
12. There is a dictionary button, and a translation button. You can input up to x hundred at a time. I am pretty sure you can input pinyin, but my wife doesn't do pinyin - she just uses the Chinese character recognition - so I'm not sure. There is an English language manual for it that you can download. We do one or more sentences at a time. 189243 doesn't do any good to input pinyin if I don't know pinyin to begin with.
13. I have a yishen. But you have to 1st translate to chinese character then you can tanslate to pinyin. One word at a time is ok. But trying to translate a complete sentence is a mess. Maybe I'm just using it wrong. I don't know.
14. The kingsoft is great but it only works when you're sitting in front of a computer. I spent very little time near a computer and lots of time in cars, restaurants and just out and about. The ability to communicate in complete sentences was very important to me and to building our relationship. We had such a device but the monochrome screen was difficult to read. You had to hold it in just the right position all the time. The new color screens cost a hundred bucks more but that's the way I would go knowing what I know now. 189220 I spent $400 on one of those elect translators. It does me no good at all to use as a learning tool. To input in english and have it translate in chinese character is of no help. I was hoping for english to pinyin so I could at least practice.
15. fyi: Dish network has the Great wall package. Direct tv has Jadeworld package.
16. Alec i called the 1-202-663-1225 option 1,0,0 for DOS. Thx David. I always appreciate your quick dd. Susieq i will sit back and try to be patient. But don't count on it.
17. I called DOS this morning to check if they have received our P3 back. She said it's not in computer and it also shows that a security clearance is pending. Anyone have an idea what that means? I hope it's another name for name check and all is ok.
18. I sent my SO $300 last year for a computer. She got a decent desktop model. Well I thought it was decent until I had to dish out another $100 when her monitor started smoking on it's own.
19. ...Trigg I agree. Of course I won't suggest who I think tigress really is.
20. That was weird. One minute tigress's reply was here, next minute it's gone.
21. Thanks for the quick reply tigress. Your help is greatly appreciated.
22. tigress you seem very knowledgeable about everything when it comes to getting a visa. I'm curious to know if your also going through the visa process with your SO. I understand if you prefer not to say.
