  1. Jesse, I feel for you both and hope you will get the help from your Senators that you deserve to break your case loose soon!! It's a real shame to see this kind of stuff happen to good people. Hang in there!! I know this ongoing torture has to be so frustrating and hurtful to both of you. If your relationship can endure this, imagine how good it will be when you are finally together!! Just keep thinking of that day and keep your chin up, it will all work out well in the end.
  2. That must be a wonderful feeling of relief and joy, having her home at last!! Best of luck for many happy years together to you both!! I'm sure you will have very happy holidays this year!!
  3. Best of luck to both of you on the interview!!! I'm sure you are both getting pretty nervous now...
  4. Congratulations and best wishes for happy holidays!!!
  5. Congratulations!!! 172475[/snapback] Best wishes for a happy homecoming!!
  6. Wow, fantastic job!! I think this also shows a different side of the Black Pearl than we are used to hearing about. Bravo to her for her actions that made this outcome possible!!! Best of luck on bringing your family home!! Congratulations for being there and standing up for what you deserved!
  7. It's funny to read this thread... I have had the same impressions of awe of my SO regarding the dexterity of filleting a fish and removing tiny bones with the chopstix. We were in Beihai and she ordered some big fish that came on a plate whole and I was amazed at how she took that thing apart, leaving a bare carcass on the plate. The fish was awesome, but watching her do her thing was the part I enjoyed most. They had a big family get together at her sister's house when I was there in July and I got lots of high marks from her brothers and sisters for my use of chopstix. My SO is always complimenting me and is very happy that I like all the Chinese foods. Once we went to a buffet place with her younger brother and wife. They came around with meats/seafood on skewers to keep your plate full... one guy came along with small whole fish on the skewer and I passed. The next day at the family get together my SO told her family I didn't like seafood.... I told her I like seafood, but I didn't want to deal with all the bones in such a small fish... that got quite a laugh around the table after translation... turns out they are deep fried and you are supposed to eat the whole thing and crunch up the bones, head, tail and all... fortunately the insides were removed... Later on I tried those and they were actually very good... bones in Chinese food was the biggest surprise I had the times I've been over there. My SO won't know what to do when she goes to a market here and sees all the boneless meats... She'll probably opt to buy whole chickens .... my biggest fear is how she will react to the markets here!! Even the Asian markets here are not great and you have to drive a long ways to get to them. Definitely not like SF Chinatown in Tucson!!
  8. Congratulations!! Best of luck with the homecoming and moving into the new house the following day!! Wow, that is a lot happening all at once for your SO! Guess she'll get to put stuff where she wants it up front this way...
  9. You should contact the USPS tomorrow and change from return receipt to delivery confirmation if possible, since, as was pointed out by Paul, this is a PO Box and they will never find anyone to sign for the delivery to a PO Box and will return it to you after so many unsuccessful attempts.
  10. I wouldn't think the USCIS office is closed all week... holiday week, so not sure what this means. I would give it another day before getting too drastic. I have no idea what is meant by STAMP either! What does that have to do with USCIS centers? If you have mail delivery confirmation from USPS, that should be good enough. Would think they will be open for business on Wed, but after that, they will likely be closed, but not sure about Friday. I wouldn't send another complete package yet!
  11. David, I just now had a little time and tried your link and I like it the best! Very easy to put the characters in the box and get the codes instead of searching pages of characters and codes for those who don't know how to have the computer help them find the characters accurately. I found the links in the pinned section and didn't see this one in your FAQ's... if there is gong to be a pinned link for this topic in the links section, it would be nice to see only one or two choices at most mentioned, yours being #1. I think it is definitely the easiest for SO's or for dummies like me that can't read Chinese but are trying to help our SO's out. Thanks much, I was easily able to verify the codes using this link!
  12. Thanks so much to each of you for helping check these codes for me!!! My SO does not seem to know how to do anything but basic email to me.... she had to have a niece come and help her download Yahoo messenger so we could chat online... I sent these links to her but she said she didn't know how to do it... The explanation about Taiwan codes vs simplified characters makes good sense why I could not find them all on these links. I'm glad I could find all of them on link #2, but then got nervous when I couldn't verify them on any other link... Thanks again very much for the help!!! I know I can always get quick expert help here!! CFL'ers are the best!!
  13. I went to all the links listed below.... Link to Telegraphic Codes: http://home.comcast.net/~donahso/ctcchart.pdf http://www.admissiontest.org/app/material/...20030419-56.htm http://www.51ielts.com/disp.asp?num=6628&n...news_class=1306 http://www.gter.net/news/html/200407/1088995870.html Here is an interactive search - key in the Chinese character and get the result: http://www.tigtag.com/community/whatsnew.asp I could only find all characters in my SO and step daughter's names in the 2nd link. Once I had the codes from there, I then looked up those numbers in the other links to cross check and had trouble doing that. The last link might be interactive if you can read Chinese... not much help to me. Here is what I found from the 2nd link below: http://www.admissiontest.org/app/material/...20030419-56.htm My SO: Ñî 2799 С 1420 Çà 7230 daughter: Ñî 2799 Ïô 5618 Ãú 6900 (preview seems to change the Chinese characters... not sure what will show up when I post this...) When I looked up these codes in the first link, I couldn't verify all of them... 6900 was blank and 5618 had a diff character in it.... what's with that????? I used "find on page" function under Edit to search for the characters, using copy/paste from an email that my SO sent me with the Chinese names.... couldn't do that on the first link so just looked up the numbers I found from the 2nd link, since the table in the first link is in numerical order... on the 3rd and 4th links, I couldn't find some of the characters ... found a couple... 2799 and 1420 checked out ok... the other 3 is where I need some help. Could someone please double check these for me? Since I can't read Chinese, there is probably something else I needed to do using the other links, so would appreciate any help from folks who can read Chinese or have experience with STC's. The 2nd link appears to be the only one that gave me STC's for all the characters I was trying to find and then I couldn't double check 3 of the characters in any other link... instead I found conflicting info between the first link and 2nd link, so I'm not sure which is right! In link #1, 6900 was blank and 5618 had a diff character in it... help!!!
