  1. My wife passed her CR1 this morning!!! She's going to pick up her visa Wednesday morning. Thank you all for your helpful advice. And special thanks to David Zixuan for the detailed information and insight that he regularly shares with us. May God Bless you all. A DESCRIPTION OF THE VERY SHORT (1 minute) INTERVIEW The Visa Officer was a white guy who spoke Chinese. My wife doesnt speak much English so the interview was in Chinese. VO: How did you meet your husband? Wife: He vacationed in China and stayed with my family for a week... VO: Have you travelled outside China before? Wife: Yes, I have been to _____. VO: Was that with your husband? Wife: Yes, he went first and then I followed. We lived together for a few months there. VO: Do you have pictures of you two there? Wife hands over pictures and he just flips through them without really looking closely. VO: OK. VO then hands her the slip to get processed.
  2. any idea what they are looking for when they flip through the passport? is it better if they have travelled to other countries or worse or what?
  3. hopefully this is my last question, im supposed to send the documents out in the morning.... the P4 packet sent to my wife for her CR1 interview says, ..."Evidence of support. The petititoner and any co-sponsor must submit an original I-864 for each applicant, as well as one set of his/her three most recent tax returns and evidence of employment. We recommendg bringing additional copies of your AOS forms, with original signatures, for each applicant, in case the AOS forms in your case file are not the originals. the lacke of even one original copy of a AOS form for a member of your party will lead to a temporary denial." wow. so if i read this correctly, i should fill out another AOS i864 and go get it notarized and my cosponsors should do the same?? and this is just in case the i-864 is a copy. what the heck? if this is the case that means we are basically required to fill out and notarize the same form twice. what are people out there generally doing? i just assumed that the file would most certainly have the original i-864 forms... your responses are appreciated!
  4. This kind of confused me. I'm the petitioner, my wife is the beneficiary of our CR1. For the P4 packet at the end there are these family chart/forms to fill in that say "List all relatives.." and then "Spouse's or fiance(e)'s family." 1. Is #6 (the bigger form) for documenting the members of her family and then #7 (the smaller form) for documenting the members of my family? 2. and do they both have to be filled out in english and chinese or just chinese for her and english for me? also, my wife says that the international health center (that's listed in the P4 packet) in guangzhou told her they can do both all the necessary immunizations AND the medical examine in one day and provide the results three days later. does that sound correct to you guys. thanks everyone!
  5. well thanks for the advice... after talking to some people and hearing your advice, i think its much ado about nothing. my wife will just explain it at the interview if it comes up. i hope that they will not turn us away because of an honest mistake and a difference of 20 miles between one city line and the next.
  6. I agree with this... Start at her hukou, ask for a police certificating stating something like, "no record of criminal offenses against the criminal law during her residence in china up to [date]"... 160749[/snapback] thanks for the comments, guys. any other opinions or thoughts out there?
  7. Her english is very basic as she just started studying it. I never really bothered to speak to her in english because it was just easier to communicate in mandarin. I've basically been thinking eh just let her learn it when she gets to the states. I'm a chinese-american that speaks mandarin fluently. I have a chinese last name and (of course) a chinese face. We've been married for 17 months and lived together for 9 of those months. Does she have to bring "evidence that we can communicate" or is that mainly a K1 fiance thing? Also Im thinking since her English is so limited that people would have to speak very slowly and she still wouldnt necessarily understand much, should she just go in and not even try her english out? just stick to mandarin to make things simpler on herself and the VO? whaddya guys think? thanks for any input or opinions!
  8. Now that my wife's CR1 interview is around the corner (end of Nov.), I'm starting to find things to worry about. I hope it's all a big fuss over nothing, but maybe not. My wife studied for 4 years in a different province at the equivalent of a junior college or less - in terms of accreditation. During those four years she would return home between every semester and therefore never stayed continuously in that province for more than 4 months. Also she never registered her residence (hukow) there. So when we filled out the Biographic application, in the occupation section we wrote in that she studied at that college between such and such years, but for the Residence section I only wrote her home residence. So the application includes the fact that she studied in a province for 4 years without ever having lived there. The application has been approved all the way through to GUZ and now to the interview process without a hitch despite this disclosure which may be interpreted as a conflicting. So my question to you guys, is should she be getting a police report from that city? Somehow at the time of completing the application I was under the impression that she wouldn't even be able to get them to issue one for her cause her I.D. had her hukow registered to her home province and when she went to get the police report from her home province that's what they required - her ID and the hukow book. Now my fear is that she might go to the interview with her home police certificate that actually covers the whole period of her life from age 16 to present and the Visa Officer might find that insufficient. I think as soon as my wife receives her P4, I will pose the question to GZ.. DOS told me her appointment date and that the appointment letter had been sent out Sept 28. But as of yesterday she had not received it. Well thanks for reading and commenting and allowing me to voice my concerns!! CFL is a great place!
  9. Hi, My wife's CR1 interview is going to be the morning of November 28. If approved, does GZ always give the visa the same day? next day? mail it? Do they ever tell you to go home and wait for it in the mail? that would certainly suck because she lives in a far away province. I'm hoping that if her interview goes smoothly on the 28th she can be on a plane on the 30th! Any insight/ comments are appreciated! ~D
