1. Fantastic news Jesse!!! I'm really happy for you!! Best of luck to you and your SO on a successful interview!! You have waited far too long already.
2. I'm in the process of putting together the AOS packages now. Frank, did you include a certified marriage license in both packages? Has anyone ever combined the packages, including a combined cover letter, separate payments, separate I-485's w/photo's, separate G-325A's, separate I-693 Suppl envelopes, one I-864 and one certified marriage license? It seems insane to me to split a K-1 and K-2 into separate packages. The K-2 has no A number so it would seem it would be hard for them to keep them linked together if they are submitted totally separately. The K-2 can only AOS because they are the child of a K-1. Also sending them separate, knowing how often paperwork gets lost, makes me really nervous. Thanks much, Jim
3. No questions were asked of my 14 yr old step daughter in the interview. I think it would be pretty rare to have a serious question asked to a K2 beyond normal grettings. We didn't rehearse any questions with her. I wouldn't worry about it, just focus on your SO. Best of luck!!
4. Perhaps the 5000 mentioned was in RMB instead of USD or perhaps the services needed in the specific case were extensive. Nevertheless, I don't think there is a need for legal services in this case, at this time. It's just a matter of a delay for a new name check. Perhaps a Friday visit to the Consulate can expedite matters. 207033 Since I got the info 2nd hand from the woman involved, I don't know, but I asked her that question several times, since it sounded outrageous and she insisted it was $5000 US! My SO talked to her last night and she got her visa in one month with the help of whoever she commissioned for $2K US, so she was thrilled and so is her husband... don't think she told him about the $2K... Appears there are others that can get the job done. I felt bad after recommending King to her. I'm sure he is very good, as others have attested to, so I was pretty surprised with what she told me the next day, after meeting with him in the evening. The Blue Slip requested a video of communications and more proof of their relationship, but nothing out of the ordinary, similar to other cases I have read about here.
5. Glad to hear the good news about the interview and your luggage!! Your luck has turned... hang in there and best of luck on the interview!!
6. I gave Peter's info to the gal that got the blue slip while I was in GZ and he told her it would cost her $5K for him to help her with the overcome!! He might be good, but he is really expensive! She went with another offer of $2K! Good luck!
7. Rick, take a shot with with consulate, make sure to be there early to get your number. 206022 This one seems worthy of a call to the Consulate General!! When I was in GZ, a gal got a blue slip and I talked to her husband in Indiana. He was so upset that he called the Consulate General and got some different info and approaches from what was on the blue slip regarding the request for a video, so in this case I think the Consulate General would definitely make something happen if he knew it was their screw up, like have the interview now and issue the visa later after the name check is complete.... plus the financial hardship and mental anquish this has caused to you. I don't know if his phone number is listed on the GZ website or not, but this guy in Indiana had the number handy. Maybe it's here on CFL somewhere... ?? Really sorry to hear of this horrible situation Rick!! Hang in there. Make a call and see if you can still go through with the interview as planned. They won't be able to come home with you, but you should be able to get the tickets changed, at least the China airline part. Good luck!!
8. Congratulations and best of luck with the interview!!! My SO has a 14 yr old daughter and we got our P4 in one month, so don't think a K2 makes them take longer.... differences in time to complete the name check is generally pointed out as the difference in times between P3 and P4. Whatever the reason, be thankful she got it and now focus on getting it all together for the interview!! Best of luck!
9. Best of luck on the interview and trip home!!
10. Great news! Best of luck for a successful interview.
11. Congratulations!! I agree that being there for the interview does make a difference with the VO! Best of luck on the homecoming and start of a happy life together.
12. Congratulations!! Best wishes for a smooth, uneventful trip home and a happy life together in the USA. The long wait is over.
13. Congratulations!! 18 months is cruel but now you will hopefully have many happy years together! Best of luck on the trip home.
14. We had them in a carry on bag but didn't have them in view and were never asked to see them. I thought they were needed for AOS or something, but seeing Frank's post that theirs are still rolled up in a tube tells me they aren't needed for that either.... hmmm. I think it is better to be safe and have them with you at POE for sure. Thanks to Lee for the quick response while I was in Nanning!!
15. Thanks much Lee! I hadn't seen the paperwork saying to hand carry it so we'll do that and put them in the suitcase later. Appreciate your help!!
16. We will travel home to Tucson today. The chest xrays are very large so I want to put them inside a suitcase, but wondered if they are required for anything at POE before packing them. Thanks much for any quick replies!!
17. My SO also had her interview at window 23... a male VO. I didn't go with the kitchen sink approach... was afraid it would just confuse my SO. Being here really helped with all the English P4 paperwork, but when he saw she had my passport in hand, he asked to look at it (I had told her to hand it to him with their 2 passports but she didn't hand it to him but she had it there where he saw it and asked to look at it). I had folders with pictures (3 per 8.5x11 sheet), a folder with I-134 and taxes, a folder with proof of custody of daughter, a folder with sampling of emails throughout the period of our relationship.... maybe 25, a folder with a sampling of Yahoo chat sessions, a folder with just the key paperwork from P3 and a folder with a stripped down I-129F in case he wanted to see airline ticket copies from my previous visits. The whole pile was no more than 2" thick. After asking 3 easy questions, he asked to see photos, which was the top folder and she never had to go to any other folder... he said you pass. I think me being here for the interview and him seeing my passport and visa's really helped alot! I highly recommend coming here to be with your SO prior to the interview and during the interview.... it's a very stressful time for them and it's great to be here and help them through it. Thanks for the update on your SO's interview!!
18. Congratulations!!! Glad the process was smooth for you too!! I'm headed home tomorrow with my new family and can't wait to see their reactions to their new home!! Best of luck in the future together!!
19. Congratulations and best of luck on the interview!!!!
20. Congratulations!!! Glad to hear about more easy interviews!! Best wishes for a happy homecoming soon!!
21. Congratulations!!! The long wait will be over soon and it will be worth it when your SO gets home!!!
22. Congratulations!!!! Sounds like she did great!! Best wishes for a happy homecoming!!! Jim and Qing
23. I went with my SO and daughter for their medicals at 1st Medical College hospital and paid 60 yuan for expedited handling.... 30 yuan for the daughter.... fees are 600 yuan and 300 yuan for the phyicals so it's an extra 10% to be able to pick up the next day.... a little over $10 for both of them!! The people there are really good too, so I highly recommend going there and saving the money! One thing I will pass along to others going there with kids. Both hospitals show different fees for adult and child but they don't say what the age of child is. I found out that 14 and up is considered adult! We were lucky. My daughter's 14th birday is March 23 and we went to medical on March 6 so we got the lower fee. My daughters first day in the USA will be her birthday so I have my daughter planning a special welcome and birthday surprise for her!! Should be fun!!
