1. Congratulations!! Best wishes for a happy homecoming!! Great way to start the new year!!
2. Mat, I printed my own passport photos for my new passport and sent the same photo with the I-129F submission. I also used that same passport photo for 2 visa's. I printed all the photos for proof of relationship and proof of visit. No problem at all. I used glossy photo paper and a Canon iP3000 printer. Good luck! Jim
3. I'll second that!! Great job and nice touch. I'm sure Jany will put the money to good use. She's had a tough time and is a real survivor! Best wishes in 2006 Jany!! Jim and Qing
4. Congratulations!!! Nice to hear it was an easy one for your SO. Best of luck in the future!!
5. Congratulations!! Best of luck on the interview!!
6. Oh, maybe one or two months after P4 to interview.... probably you just missed a monthly cutoff date and your interview went to next month. Since my SO will wait to come to US until her daughter's school year ends in June, one or two months from P4 to interview is fine for us. It will be interesting to see if she changes her mind and wants to come early once she gets the visa's in hand.... B)
7. Frank, I don't think there is much grease involved in this process... more luck than anything else. I guess we just hit the right DHL shipment that got there and was processed fast. Before the holidays I decided to just not worry about it and hope for the best, since that wasn't going to change anything anyway. Saved a lot of anxiety and more grey hairs that way too... Playing with my grandkids provided a great distraction the last couple weeks!!
8. Congrats on recieving of the P3..... My wife recieved the P4 for K3 in 8 weeks so it is very likely that you will get the P4 while you are in Nanning. CK 180124 Thanks, that's very encouraging!! I will go prepared for sure. If she gets the P4 while I'm there, the interview will still likely be a little after I return I'm suspecting, since the interview is usually about a month after the P4.
9. I only went to the DHL website and looked at the package shipping info once before I left for the holidays. I saw where it said the one shipped on 11/18 was listed as received, while packages shipped days before had other "in transit" status shown. I didn't go into the detail tracking info at that point, since it would only be a guess what day it shipped. I met a guy from VA on the flight to Nanning in June. We have stayed in touch by email after returning. He submitted his I-129F K1 6 weeks after I did (late Sept) to the VSC... got approval in 5 days... didn't even get a normal NOA-1 letter his petition was approved so fast. His SO received her P3 on 12/24! Late Sept submission to 12/24 P3 (3 months) is pretty fast! Good luck with your P3!!
10. Tonight I returned from 16 days of holiday related travel and was greeted by an email from my SO that she received the P3 package yesterday!! The NVC exit letter was dated 11/15, so looks like we got to GZ and got in the system and received P3 in about 7 weeks. I'm planning to travel to Nanning on Jan 18 and I'll stay there with my SO until Mar 22. Sure would be nice if she got her P4 / interview while I'm still there!! Probably will happen the week after I leave, which would be more like my luck.... This was a big relief, given the DHL uncertainities!! My SO and I are both floating on cloud 9 now!!
11. Yes Frank, it seems the consulate avoided providing information that would make one think they could overcome this recommendation. To the contrary, it seems they are saying we are not only recommending denial, but revoking. Something seems rotten in Denmark.... 177605 Wow, this is terrible news and very concerning that concrete reasons were not given. Seems there must be some unknown 3rd party correspondence playing in here somehow... Hang in there and I hope King can help you! This must be devastating news to both of you!! I hope you can hang in there and make it through this unfortunate situation!!
12. It seems you were given a pat answer of six months. This means that is the time frame standard the representative has been instructed to indicate. Don't take it as gospel. Second, it is not the DOS person's responsibility to train any citizen in tracking packages shipped through DHL. To track the package, you go to the DHL site. http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping/track.high.html Scroll down until you see Access DHL Tracking by Shipper's Reference and click it. As for what reference, I don't know and the page does not function properly for me to try it. I take it you are waiting for P 3 but you say "since it was shipped Oct. 21st. To what exactly do you refer with the pronoun "it"? 176176 Don't use this referenced link... doesn't work, use the following one. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef Put I-730 in the Ref box and the dates and it will work... look for Guangzhou China shipments. There is a next box in the lower left to go to other pages... lots of shipments to embassies all over the world! Amazing they keep this stuff straight!! Some packages are delivered fast and others are "in transit" or "at gateway" that were shipped earlier... go figure!
13. David, most of us are doing this on our own and most normal cases are very straightforward. With the info and support of lots of folks that are very experienced and knowledgeable here on CFL, I don't know why you think you need to hire a lawyer, whether you do immigration work or not. It's not rocket science.... it's mostly a waiting game, so stock up on your Cheetos and relax. Assuming you have time to read the info here on CFL.... there is tons of info on the process, forms, Q's&A's, etc, in the links section... you can do this yourself... you are in good hands here. After you follow CFL a while you will understand more about what I mean. I was thinking of hiring a lawyer too until I was told about this site... after browsing it a few days, that thought was gone forever! Welcome to CFL and best of luck to you and your SO!! You've come to the right place!!
14. It must vary depending on what city you are in. I've cashed them many times on 3 different trips to Nanning and never have had a problem at any BOC, but James seems to have had a different experience where he goes. I just sent $1000 to my SO yesterday... $14 at WU. That's a deal and a really safe way to send money. The PayPal thing sounds interesting and inexpensive too.
15. Congratulations!!! Hope to hear my SO receives the P3 in January before or after I arrive there!
16. Dear CFL Members, This is one piece of additional evidence that an officer might request during the interview. This can help to prove the bona fide nature of the current relationship by proving that the former one is definitely finished. Sincerely, IV Unit, U.S. Consulate, Guangzhou, China 175739 Dear USCONGUZ, Thank you for this information to help us prepare our SO's for the interview. I understand the need to prove a bona fide relationship, due to fraud, but I also assume there is some type of timeframe criteria used before asking this question about ex spouse residency proof. For example if the beneficiaries divorce records show a recent divorce, say within one or two years max, then this question would be potentially asked if the VO has any suspicions looking at the case. If the beneficiary divorce records show the divorce is many years prior, this question would not be asked. In multiple cases that I am aware of, the ex spouse abandoned the wife and child after the divorce and provided no support and never made contact again. In some cases, the ex spouse moved away from the area, so it would be very difficult to find proof of where they reside and IMHO that has no bearing on whether the relationship between the beneficiary and the petitioner is bone fide or not after a certain amount of time has passed... say 4 or 5 years. I have also heard of cases where the ex spouse or their families attempt to extort money from the USC for their cooperation, so it would not be fair and would likely be very hurtful to request the beneficiary for this proof, requiring them to make contact with their ex-spouse unnecessarily. I agree that this is a fair question for a VO to ask when the information in the case shows a recent divorce, where fraud is more likely, but I do not feel this is a fair question to ask of someone, whose records show have been divorced for 5 or 10 years for example. I hope you understand this and agree that a timeframe criteria should be applied before asking this question. I hope that is already the case and would like to hear your comments on this subject. Thanks very much for the information and feedback you have provided here so far!! This information is very helpful to all of us and much appreciated!
17. Sorry to hear about your SO's blue slip!! I'm interested in the recent trend of VO's asking about ex's whereabouts. How long ago was her divorce? If it was not so long ago, then I can understand them asking this. I am in the same situation as you with the calling card I use not having records, but I want to use it up before putting money into a different one, but maybe I should do that just to have some kind of records to show them. I have chat logs from Yahoo that I have printed, plus emails. Did your SO present the VO with your stamped passport with hers when they asked? If not, this might have helped if the VO knew you were there in person downstairs... I agree with what has been said... be nice and show them what you have and explain what you don't have and why. I'm sure they will grant the visa once they see what they didn't look at. Just you being there and going to American Citizen hour will be a big help to your cause and will go a long ways to showing the credibility of your relationship. I wish you the best of luck with the overcome!!
18. Congratulations and happy homecoming for the holidays!! It doesn't get much better than that!! Best of luck in 2006!!
19. Welcome aboard Matt!! You are in for quite an experience, but also quite a treat, including the support and advice available here at CFL!! At this point focus on the relationship! All the rest of the visa process stuff can wait till later. Just take some pictures of you together, keep good records and all receipts during your trip. Video is rarely required. Since it hasn't been mentioned by the vet's, let me be the first to recommend you stock up well on Cheetos for the long ride!! Best of luck and welcome aboard!!
20. Congratulations to you both!!! The long journey is almost over. Very happy to hear the interview was such an easy one! What wonderful news for the holidays!! Hope you can be home together for Christmas.
21. Best of luck to both of you!! How could any VO say no to her... Should be a breeze for her, with such good English and great preparation!
22. Fantastic news for the holidays!!! Really glad to hear you finally got the help you were long overdue for!!! B)
23. Congratulations and best wishes for a happy homecoming for the holidays!! :toot: 173640
