  1. Very true. My wife and I applied for her AOS and EAD in April 2006. We applied for the AOS for our daughter at the same time (she's 14). We got the EAD in August. In December they both had their interviews and passed. The Immigration Officer told us that our daughters FBI security check had cleared in 2 days...but my wife's is still pending.....and is still pending.
  2. My wife, Yi, and her daughter passed her AOS interview on December 6, 2006. The security check has been pending since April 2006. Her daughter's security check was complete within 2 months of application (the Immigration Officer told us that at the interview). Now Yi has to wait for her name-check to clear before she can get her Permanent Resident Card. Our daughter already has received her PR card!!
  3. Still confused. We sent the I-485 and it was receivd April 6, 2005. Then within 2 weeks we got a letter for the biometrics appointment which we went to. She has already received her EAD and SSN this month. I have checked the processing dates online and this is what I have found: The only place that is processing the I-485 based on family is Chicago. The local centers are processing the 485's based on employment or asylum. Am I incorrect? And Chicago, for the last 2 months, is still processing I-485's from February 2005. So, where do I check? We live in Arkansas which uses the Texas Service Center...but they don't process family I-485's. Memphis, TN (the closest district office) is processing 495's from August 7, 2005. So, any idea where I should check??? Arkansas probably has an office but the mule died and the one employee cannot get to work.
  4. Have you been married before? 1.a Divorced = get certified copy of divorce certificate from city agency. Then send to the state for state certification. Then to the Chinese Consulate adjudicating your area along with a letter stating that you are free and clear to marry. You need the letter from them to get married in China. 1.b Divorced = get a certified copy of your divorce certificate from the city. Take it to the US consulate in China along with a letter stating that you are free to marry. The consulate will give you the paper necessary to get married. 2. Single = Write a notarized letter that states that you have never been married and are free to marry. Then....see above.
  5. Sorry for being so late in posting this...had internet change over. Tina passed her interview on December 23!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She told me she and her daughter were sitting waiting and say the lovely young black lady. She had heard of her before so she was scared and praying she did call her number............she did. But she was very nice and asked a few questions about my work and told her she passed. OMG...she passed.... Thanks very much for all of the input and information stored at this site, for the friendship and comrades and caring here, but mostly for the beer and cheetos. -- Keith.
  6. I am not sure about the closest hospital...but what "Type" of visa did you enter the US with. Was it for work or student or what? It it is an immigration visa then someone sponsored you? Was it a family visa? That is what they want to know.
  7. All the advice I have received from Candle has been excellent. And certainly I understand p**p happens. I mailed the financial papers Yi needs for her interview which is on the 23rd of this month. I had to wait for 1 paper so I didn't get to send it until the 6th. Still..16 or so days...I have read in candle that normal deliver is about 10 days via USPS. I even asked them SEVERAL times how long this would take and each time I was told 6 to 10 days to reach her. Guess what? 14 days and counting and NO PAPERS. I looked online at the USPS tracking...and they did not even send it to China until the 13! They held it for a week!! Even after I specifically asked them how long it would take. I even had my wife write her addres in Chinese and I wrote on the package "Documents Only". I can only assume the large envelope arrived in China on the 14th. Now, as you can guess my wife is panicking and po'ed at me for trusting the post office. I am about ready to go "postal" on somebody here too. If I would have had any idea that 16 days is not enough I would have sent it DHL or UPS. I am very angry and aggravated right now. So beware sending anything via USPS...even if they say 6 to 10 days..
  8. Yes. I included her on the I-129F for K3 form. I have also filed the I-130 for her and included the NOA 1. But my understanding was that the interview they have scheduled is for the K3 so that my daughter will have derivative status with her mother. So why does she need to fill out all the other forms too?
  9. My understanding is that my wife's 13 year old daughter will come as part of my wife's K3 visa. She is listed etc... But, at the medical exam they told my wife that my daughter must have a DS156 and DS 157. Is this true? Then why doesn't she just get her own visa if she has to make all the paperwork anyway?
