  1. I jus received a phone call from Susan. She passed her interview. She was interviewed by a 'young man' who spoke in chinese. Only 2 questions were asked...How did you meet your husband? And...When are you going to America? Funny thing happened. The interviewer saw on the paperwork that I was from Maine. He told Susan he was from southern Maine and that it is a great place to live. Thanks to everyone who have helped by providing information and sharing your personal experience this past year. It has been a great help to Susan and I.
  2. Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me the time it takes from visa approval to actual receipt of the visa? Our interview is scheduled for wednesday 12/21/05. This is right before the holiday and i know the 26th is a holiday for the embassy. I am trying to figure out how long my wife will have to be in GZ. (Sorry for asking this . i know I have seen the answer on here before but i can't find the answer with a search)
  3. some places for more information. www.ipata.com www.petrelocation.com www.globytrans.com check airline websites. most have information about cargo and pet transport
  4. Hi everyone, Thanks for the good advice. As soon as the surgery is scheduled I will send an email to GZ and explain what is happening. Their website seems to indicate that could accomodate a request for a delay. Jay
  5. Hi everyone, My wife and I are moving steadily forward through the CR1 process. Based upon when GZ received our paperwork we anticipate an interview this year...perhaps in November. A slight problem has come up though. My wife needs some surgery. Maybe more than one operation. The problem is that she may not be able to travel for a November interview. Has anyone had the experience in asking for a delay in the interview date? Could you tell me how it was done and how far back you pushed your interview. We hate the idea of asking for a delay and then having them push it back another 6 months or so. Thanks for any information you can provide. Jay
  6. Married in Beijing in June of 2004 Applied CR1 visa December 2004 NVC sends paperwork to GZ June 2005 Currently waiting for GZ
  7. The use of the media to demonize your adversaries has a long history. Read Mein Kempf and then read Karl Rove's words about managing the message during the election. The similarities about the use of propaganda are chilling. The U.S. print and broadcast industries are a good examples. The major networks and newspapers actively promoted the Iraq war. They did not ask the obvious questions. If you read european newspapers then you would have had good reason to doubt the claims of WMD, buying uranium from Africa, and any connection to Al Quaeda. I am under no illusions about the media in the PRC. They generally just avoid controversial matters. But when they do want to make a point they are just as biased as anything on this side of the pacific. When you read news or see it on TV you have to consider the source. There is usually an agenda attached. Just my two cents worth.
  8. I've been using a phone card I signed up for at www.ecallchina.com . They have a rechargeable pinless speed dial card. I don't have local access number here in Maine so it costs about 4.3 cents a min. If you have a local access calling number it is only 1.9 cents a minute. They have a good quality sound and I have had no problem connecting. They also have the ability to download your call detail records in a pdf format.
  9. Thanks for the information. I was just trying to track the application through the NVC and on to GZ. We are going through the CR1 application process. The NOA2 had a statement that said wait at least 90 days before contacting them if you had not heard anything. I guess it won't hurt to call them and ask if the have the application. thanks Jay
  10. Hi Everyone, I am new to this site. It has alot of great information. I have noticed that several members have very detailed timelines about what is happening with their applications. I was wondering if anyone could explain any steps I could use to obtain information about my application. Brief history: Met on AFF in 2003. Married Susan in Beijing in June of 2004. Dec applied I-130 to Vermont Service Center NOA1 - Dec 14 NOA2 - Jan 9th thanks for any info
