  1. We have two cats that are quite noisy so they cannot be brought into the cabin of the plane. For international pet flights, cats must be sent through approved shippers. So far, we have been quoted between $5000-$8000 USD to ship both of them. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any recommended shippers from Shanghai?
  2. Hello everyone! Have any of you brought a pet from China to USA? Please share your expierence. We are planning to move with our cat and we would like to find as much information as possibleabout the process. Kind regards, Nat
  3. My fiance has a cat she would like to bring to the USA. It's a persian cat and moderately neurotic in that he is very nervous in new places or with new people. Do airlines allow bringing a cat from China and keeping in the cabin with her? Also, what is needed to prepare the cat for tavel, shots, health check and so on?
  4. My father's Chinese wife should (possibly) be getting her visa shortly. The problem is that she will be bringing 2 cats with her and she's dead set on using a pet transport service, which costs a minimum of $2,000. My father is not wealthy and would like to try to find an alternative. We have both read up on the regulations and everything seems very straight-forward: the pets must have all required vaccines, they must have a health certificate, and you must make the needed arrangements with the airline(s). Jing, my father's wife, insists that it's not that simple. For example, she says pets can only exit China from Beijing... which seems very strange. Part of the problem is that Jing's English is not very good so I never know if we actually understand one another. And my father and I are in the US so it's difficult to try to make these arrangements. If anyone here has any knowledge of "pet immigration" to share, I would really appreciate the help! Thanks, Jessica

  6. My fiance'es daughter has a cat that she is very attached to...says to leave her friends is very ok, but if need to leave her cat in the China, will make her very sad...has anyone here brought the family pets along with them when they came to USA?..and if so, what is the process?
  7. We are getting ready to leave tomorrow and as it is, from Nanning to GUZ, they are determined & has my SO convinced that the ONLY way to ship him is through their Freight Dept. Ok, that's fine, but upon getting to Guangzhou, they Again are saying that we will not be able to take him through the First series of Customs (Just berfore the Check In Counters & where you check your Bags) The SO says that we will need to take hom to ANOTHER part of the Airport & have his be placed on the plane by a Freight Company. WELL BS! I just finished talking to a lady from Delta & she has assured me that What I need to do is go to the counter to check our House of Suitcases, and at the same time check the Dog as a Kennal ($75) and from their we will then pick him up in LAX at the Cutoms counter Down stairs. CAN ANY ONE assist me in understanding this dillema before I begin to pull out my hair and go Koma-Kazi! At this point, I'm about to just go fishing with a large can of bait & stap the top on an Extra Large size can of WOOOOOP - ASS. Please Help. Thanks.
  8. Hi everyone, I know that we have covered this topic over & over again, at least once a month. Unfortunately, many of the various resources that has been presented on here, is of little to no use for most of us on the East coast, as it is difficult to get to many of them. OR, the sites listed, are in chinese only and for us that are chinese litterate, well, you get the picture. I've tried elong, with little to no help. Orbitz is deffinately out of the picture as they can not be trusted Expedia just cant seem to get the flights I am wanting at a decent price. I've tried locating a few travel agentcies in the various China towns as some of you have mentioned, but with out knowing them, or have ever dealling with them, I can not help but be a bit skeptic on using them. (No to mention on some of them, I was unable locate telephone Numbers or addresses on them. So, I am turning to my fellow brothers & sisters here, in hopes to be able to, (If not already) try and build a Network of folks and services access to not just help my self, but for others that will soon join us in this segment of this process. My plans are to do the following: Depart from Hickory, NC (HKY) Arrive at Atlanta (ATL) Connection: To LAX, Grab the 11:59pm Flight on China Southern TO GUZ (CAN) Then Onto Nanning (NNG) The Return trip the same but in reverse, but this time, with my SO. So, I will need 1 round trip ticket & One way. From what I am seeing on both Delta & US Air, they are wanting to charge about the same amount for her one way as my round trip (CRAZY) Aprox: Total: $3,000.00 Can anyone assist in getting this Itenerary with in a reasonable Airfare & a simple way to pay for it. (CC is no problem) I am wanting to leave by the 6th of October & for us to return on the 18th of October. Anyone care to give this a fair try. Thanks Oh Yeah, we have tired contacting several Animal transporters to help to assist us with her dog (Just a bit bigger than a Jack Russel Terrier) about 30lbs, and none of them could help us because they do not service Nanning or Guangzhou Areas. Any assistance on this would also be of help. Thanks
  9. Hi all, I know that this has been addressed before, but as scatter brained as I have been getting ever since we found out that the SO will go for her interview in Sept, I am here in the states going nuts, trying to make all of the final plans for her. She has a dog, a little bit bigger than a Jack Russel, (About 20kg) and is wanting to bring it to NC from Nanning. We know that she will have to get some sort of cage, but that is about it. I have tried to check everywhere I can think of to try & fid out all of the paticulars, but No Winner. Would someone be so kind as to give us a Play by Play on How to accomplish this feet? What type of Cage will she need? Where to find it in Nanning? How should she go about getting the Dog from Nanning Airport, past Guangzhou international, Into LAX & Onto Charlotte NC. We want to make absolutely sure that her dog follows her Every Step of the Way. (Or I'll Never hear the end of it) Any thoughts on how much it will cost|? We know that the physical for the dog in Nanning will be about 400RMB. Any Assistance in this matter would be greatly appriecated. Thanks
  10. I know that this is a strange question to be asking, but I wasn't sure just where to ask. My So is hoping to get her interview soon, and should she get the Visa, she wants to bring her small dog back to the USA with her. She does what she can to try & keep up with all of the shots, but has no Lisence for him. Although he is very talented, I think that it would just break her heart to have to leave him behind as he has been her dear companion when ever I haven't been her with her. Any one know of the procedures and requirments on this? Any info would be great. Thanks
  11. My SO has a cat that she doesn't want to leave when she comes here. Anyone know about the requirements to bring a pet with you before I go digging to find out?
  12. Hi all. My company closed down and I've been laid off. I've decided to start saving my unemployment pay and take the opportunity to go live with my gal in Guangzhou for the next 3 to 6 months. We are planning to rent our own apartment and she says we can find a good place by going through an agent. Aparently we can get a nice place for 2,500 to 3,500 Yuan/month. I want to make a smooth transition, considering I first have to pack up my wonderful apartment in San Francisco-- a painful experience. I hope to find someplace clean, quiet, fairly comfortable for someone used to living in the US. Has anyone lived in GZ for a few months and had experience with going through an agent? Any recommendations on good parts of town to live in, caveats on renting apartments, etc? What about pets? Has anyone ever heard of shipping a cat to China before I go? Perhaps someone traveling there can take the cat for a fee? I understand they have a 45 quarentine period but they sometimes allowing the animal to undergo quarentine at home. I have a great Himalayan cat who I hate to give up. I should be going to GZ in November. Anyone else going also? cheers, Icebreaker
