  1. In this case, it beats the H*LL out of quoting a U.N. study, wouldn't you agree???? Best Regards I think it's pretty much the same, except that the statistics take a lot more time to dig through. Not much in the way of valid conclusions here, just food for thought.
  2. is this worldwide statistics or just for the US? How are other countries doing where single parenting occurs... is it the same issue or are there local factors that cause what we see in the US? There's nothing like tossing out some blind statistics in order to "prove" a point, whatever it is.
  3. K-2's may not have an A number yet. You should get one on the AOS NOA1. Also, we have heard of people being assigned as many as 3 A numbers at various points in the process. If at all possible, propagate the same one wherever possible.
  4. (1) The AP document is used when returning to the US. To use the form a second time, have a copy of it that you can leave with the Immigrations Officer. You must have with you both the original and the copy. (2) Ours has a stamp immediately above where it says National Benefits Center Parole Stamp. The box is not stamped.
  5. If she wants to use a writing pad for Chinese characters, install the Japanese IME (not very good), or Twinbridge @ http://www.twinbridge.com
  6. Nope - use the I-485 Check a) for your application type in Part 2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong - we were K-1
  7. Well deserved, after your visa ordeal. Congratulations.
  8. I hate to be overly obvious here, but it's at the Missouri service center. This service was previously located in Nebraska, and still shows up that way on the service center status. The regional centers are listed by city.
  9. http://www.customvisuals.net/gallery_direc...Images_215.html http://www.customvisuals.net/catalogs/previews/Ken_Ferrell/p0000000215.jpg Located near Mettler, CA., this is the discharge lines from the Wind Gap Pumping Plant. The Edmonston Pumping Plant is the highest single lift pumping plant in the world, raising water 1,926 feet to cross the Tehachapi Mountains, then water flows by gravity into the Antelope Valley, where it divides into the East and West Branch Aquaducts.
  10. Take the yellow book with you to a civil surgeon - he will fill out the form I-693a and put it in a sealed envelope for you to turn in with your I-485. The I-693a vaccination supplement is also available on the USCIS website (try here) - you can fill out your information ahead of time. A list of civil surgeons may be found there as well.
  11. If money talked, it would say, "Bye-bye"!
  12. In Houston, when they were short, they've been known to send deputies over to the shopping center and pick out jurors there!
  13. You could always have her show up. Then she needs to hound the court for her citizenship papers, because they only have US citizens on a jury and they wouldn't have called her if she wasn't. She can do that, but any case with a non-citizen on the jury would be thrown out. I believe they have to sign a statement to the effect that they are qualified for jury duty.
  14. So far, we're in the same boat. Our interview was in June. Can she apply for AP?
  15. That's for Employment-based applications. Are you seeing a separate date for family-based? We're in the same boat here.
  16. I would guess that somewhere around 50% of Candle members were in Guangzhou for the interview. Of that number, less than 5% made it to the ACH. 1 visit is necessary for filing the I-129F. More visits help prove the ongoing relationship. A trip during the interview can help even more, and a visit to the ACH has been reported to generate good comments in your file. It is up to you and your personal situation as to whether you should be there for the interview or not. There are many of us who did not make it for one reason or another. You may wish to save your vacation time for when she arrives, or you might decide to be there with her.
  17. Hey Fred. It's up to the interviewer. They may try a tactic like separating you and comparing answers. In one case, someone reported that they were left in the room without the IO who (they suspect) was watching from another room. In our case, the IO had the translator sit in back and not say anything for awhile, while we communicated as best as we could. Assuming your wife passes, the daughter's should be a shoo-in, but whatever setup the IO deems appropriate. Good luck and let us know
  18. You're right, but they show it to the airline rep at the ticket counter to verify that they will be allowed entry.
  19. Chinese passport is good for entry into China. The greencard is presented at the Point of Entry, along with the passport, for re-entry into the US.
  20. I'm guessing a little bit here, but here's what I think: You won't be able to get the K-1 extended. You CAN get an SSN with an EAD (Employment). The USCIS DOES accomodate servicemen. First thing to do is to make an Infopass appointment NOW to see what they can do for you. I would think they would easily schedule the interview around your deployment - be sure to bring the deployment letter. An Emergency AP is possible. Ask at the Infopass appointment. Jim_julian got one for a business trip on short notice. They'll certainly give you one. The K-3 is definitely an option, but only as a last resort if she has to leave without the AP. Of course, this means going through the whole process again. Be sure to include your deployment letter as a means of explaining why she had to leave.
  21. Duke: Thanks for the help!! As for the piblic charge, That is not a problem, I'm well above the 125% I just want everthing to look good for the interview. All this stuff with the visa process and now TAX time makes one head hurt and makes the STRESS even more!!! Like in my last post, I can take the chance and get my wifes passport sent to me! I figure i have a 50%/50% chance of getting it or lossing it in the mail system. But i always get the wrong 50% Thats what I'm woriied about!!!!!!! Plus The extra money from the return would be nice right about now!!! Trust me: I have run the numbers many times in the pass few days and filing married-jointly is the way to go!! Don't forget you can do what Duke did - file singly now, and then when your wife gets here file an amended return, married, with the W-7. You'll get a refund of the difference at that time.
