  1. 36%, though with some refinement this could be a very good model to help people look for red flags in case preparation It is a good model, but every case is different. We all fear(ed) 3rd party interferences as well. Having the petitioners ex's information requested has happened before.
  2. Not to be argumentative but each case is different. I've bolded those items that were true for us and struck through those that were not. Still 16 months for an interview. Regarless, we know the pain and wish you two the best. As for #11 How about Fujian. Naning is much less fraught with denials. I edited my post .. but really I wasn't trying to point to fraud, just to try to show how people on this forum generally DO fall into the "std" mold. I may be totally wrong, and we will see, but from the 3 years I've hung out here, and a little on VJ, I see the trend, I am certain with what the VOs see, THEY see a trend, I just wish I could explain it to the new people as they start.
  3. Keep researching. My wife's cousin is here as a student at a university in Dallas TX. I-130 is for petitioning for IR visas, IR=Immediate Relative (Spouse, Parents, Children, or Siblings) of petitioner are considered I.R. SMU? UTA? UTD?
  4. Just asking ... do they have the same requirements if the in-laws are English, French, Russian, Mexican?
  5. Why it's good ol' Michael Chertoff the second United States Secretary of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush that goes on all the networks saying "Yeah! You need those things!" He's "owned" by RapidScan. Also see on What a patriot.
  6. Get use to water, and I mean lots of water, on the bathroom floor.
  7. Add this information to the files of the attorney collecting 'horror' stories. It makes the explantation for the denials so simple now.
  8. Lao po runs the stock market. I gave her about $5k about 6 years ago to put into the kitty. But you know how that goes, there'll never be an audit.
  9. We just dumped DSL and installed 15Mb cable internet (periodically clocks at 30Mb). We're dropping the DishTV down to the basics (due to contract) and have connected laptops to the 2 TVs. Anything played in China can be seen via a website. For American TV consider Hulu or others. Netflix with $10-$12/mo subscription for all the movies you can download is a great bargin especially when you consider what you pay for HBO/Starz, etc...
  10. We seem to easily confuse rights and abilities. We have the RIGHT to own guns. We have the RIGHT (in many cases) to carry the gun with us. That gives the gun bearer the ABILITY to point it to the back of someone's head and TELL them what they can or cannot say. This is NOT a right or a privilege afforded by the Constitution or any law. It is an ABILITY that someone who carries a gun can exercise - illegally, and out of sight of any actual law enforcement, even if the perpetrator is a law enforcement officer. The ABILITY to deny someone the free exercise of their rights does not give you the RIGHT to do so, whether in China or in the US. You have the ABILITY to break most laws that are on the books - you do not have the RIGHT to do so. I agree. Griz, did you file charges against the policeman that put his gun to your head?
  11. Davidq, It could be among other things the "another Chinese woman said...." And should that be the case there is no further discussion. What another Chinese woman says (and she doesn't even have to know the woman) has more weight than anything or anybody that you've consulted. Period. So, if someone else has told her that's not enough then you either 1) beg forgiveness and send more or 2) wait it out and hope to God it gets approved, cuz you'll never hear the end of it otherwise. Good Luck!
  12. Found this today on BBC "Chinese vereran politicians call for reform" It'll be interesting to see what happens to them. For all the comparisons the major differences in USA vs. China is that we don't lock people up for expressing their disagreement with government policy, etc... If anyone can point to specific cases where such retaliations have occured in the USA (since Nixon that is) please do so.
  13. I agree with Griz and others that China has made incredible progress with individual freedoms. And while they have a ways more to go we all should know that China will progress and THEIR pace and no one elses.
  14. FROM China snubs courageous Nobel Peace Prize which is an educational read. I find his statement below somewhat true too.
  15. It's only my opinion but I believe that the EOR is important. Also important that the spouse/fiancee know its content thoroughly i.e. you both have the same story. That would also show that you do in fact communicate with one another. Now this will not override any missing or incomplete papers or lack of income requirements. Again your submission documents should be the details and proof and your situation. The EOR tells briefly how you two got to where you are now. Good Luck.
  16. David, I'm so sorry. I guess we were just lucky to get Mom's approved on the 1st try. Keep at it and beef up those 'reason to come back' documents.
  17. Hell Don, as old as you are these could be some of your kids.
  18. Congratulations! Now if she gets citizenship you don't have to have UCIS mess with her at all.
  19. Notice this has been going on since 1996. So the real money (in this scam/collection) has long been made. Any 'value' attributed is standing on a very weak pedestal.
  20. I think it's a niche market at best i.e. price driven as collectors' item. YMMV but I do agree with you that it's money down the drain. http://dml.cmnh.org/...r/msg00054.html http://www.twoguysfo...s.com/dino2.htm Agency quashes sale of Chinese dinosaur eggs http://www.stonecomp...y/eggstudy.html Oh yeah, I even saw the titilating expectation set tha DNA could be extracted from the eggs or bone. That's total . DNA is a very large, very fragile (outside of a viable cell) molecule and there's no way that any from the dinosaur could be found after millions of years. Maybe bacteria or virus but even those would be of recent vintage. But I only had a B.S. in Biochemistry (minor Chemistry, Physics) and neither that or a PhD on this topic can trump what another Chinese woman said because we all know the latter is always the absolute truth.

What! No brie and quiche? We're all proud of him Steve!
  22. Just don't P*$$ off the flight attendants.
  23. Marc, correct me if you think this is the wrong approach: I'm thinking that explanations for those things could perhaps be within the Evolution of Relationship document. Nothing draw out just a "ex and I have duel custody", "not all assests have been resolved", etc.. I'm of the belief that the EOL is a very important document. Your thoughts?
