Hi all,

First, the good news: Sarah got her visa today. :D

The process was very easy and we were over prepared. Sarah had this stack of stuff that went from her waist to her chin. She was really quite cute trying to manage all this stuff by herself. :P

We had 140 pictures or so, including those of our engagement party and formal wedding pictures. We had nearly 400 emails, a pile of phone cards, airline tickets and itineraries, as well as all the p4 stuff.

Well, the interview basically went down like this: When Sarah approached the interviewer, he said in Chinese: "So many documents!" Sarah replied in English, "Yes." He then asked, "Can you speak English?" She replied that she could. He complimented her on her English, then asked,

1. How did you meet your boyfriend?

2. What does your fiance do?

3. He then looked at about six pictures. Sarah noticed that he commented on the ones that showed her parents together with me. He did not look at any other pictures. <_<

4. He then asked where I was - in the USA or here in China? Sarah said that I was here.

5. He then asked if I was waiting outside - she replied "yes"

6. He then asked if she had my passport - she replied, "No, I forgot to Take it.

7. He then asked again, "but he is waiting outside?" She again said yes - and then he paused for a moment and then said "ok, pick up your visa at 4!" :D

He never once asked for any phone cards, logs, emails, letters, etc.

Probably the highlight of all of our stay here in GZ was meeting Ling(Peach)

We had a nice lunch with her and today she is helping us by allowing us to pass a few hours at her place before our late afternoon flight.

We are heading to Qingdao tonight and on to the states about July 10th.

Thank you everyone for you words of support, helpful information and friendship during this process. Sarah and I are both grateful.

Great news Dave!!!!! On the way to the next part of the journey!!!

Bye the way, the Consular officer also looked at only a few pictures of ours and made a comment about the one where I am with her parents and her brothers and sisters. Maybe this is a trend for future interviews to include a family picture.

Oh! I definitely think those are the most important items of all. There's a lot you can fake but hanging out with the family would be a difficult one to stage.

And also, WAY TO GO SARAH AND DAVE!! :(

Great news Dave and Sarah!

Congratulations and happy journey!

Also best wishes for your trip back!

PS: The family pistures almost got me sweating and reminded of my two rolls of film taken at our wedding receptions: they simply disappeared not to be found again. :greenblob: Almost sounds like it could have happened in GZ :redblob:

Of course we still have plenty others, but Xiyu for a long time doubted my packing skills, well she has forgiven me now :( with so much time gone by :redblob:
