Yeah Argyle, I have been patience for too long now. After seeing you and R2D2 getting your clearances my butt has really been burning. I sent another letter to my Congressman last week and still haven’t heard a response from them and today I sent off a few to my Senators and DOS. I am really #$%@%#$ at myself for being so patience at these fools. Anyway thanks for your words Argyle, something will start cooking for us I feel. Right now I am celebrating my fiancée’s birthday and we are pretty happy but will be that much happier when we are finally together like we should be. Luke

Greetings everyone, After getting another letter ready to send off to my congressman today, I realized they did help me some. It wasn’t until guz responded to my congressmans inquiry that they (guz) finally sent my case off for the required name security check. It was four months from Sept., when I sent an email to confirm (ha ha) they received my correction, to Jan 23, when they responded by letter to my congressman and forwarded to me that the security name check on my petition started. The reason I am writing today is there was a segment on 60 min tonight where an FBI Turkish language interpreter hired after Sept 11 was on. Her story was that her supervisor requested all the interpreters in her department to deliberately create a backlog, in other words she was told to go slow. The reason being was in that way her department could justify a larger budget for the following fiscal year. When I heard that suddenly everything became very clear to me as to why things suddenly slowed down for us, my petition. Everything was going so well for us until around September. Of course a little thing like putting the wrong birth date on my fiancées biographic form couldn’t have had anything to do with it. Anyway I am sending my letter to the Honorable John L. Mica tomorrow asking for his help agai and I hope I get some result, man I am angry. I called DOS Friday and was unlucky enough to get some …....... I have no idea who this lady was all about, because when I ask for the status on our case, she responded, “we don't give that information out." I asked how would I know when the name check cleared and she said, " you will know when they (guz) notifys you.” I figured they changed procedures or something like that. I asked her what had changed because I have been calling weekly since February and that was the first I heard of that. I continued asking her what was up and this professional government worker actually just disconnected me, she hung up on me after waiting for over 45 min. She wasn’t the first that hung up on me, but @#&!@#!, this one really got my goat. I was flabbergast for a few minuets and called back. This time I got a nice professional who took care of my request, still pending. I mentioned being hung up on and asked her to perhaps revise their hiring practice and phone etiquette training. Any day now………. ps I was not rude, at the most I was a little sarcastic to that dingbat

Wow, hearing all these stories about the airport after picking up your visa sounds so great. Can’t wait until I do the same when I arrive to pick up my girl. Can’t wait to see Shanghai again and this time not having to say a goodbye. But that will have to wait for a little something like a name clearance and the infamous interview. Sounds to me you might have spoken to ~{!0~}Rose.~{!1~} When I called later that day she told me the computers were down. We got to talking and she told me they had a meeting that day and discussed why they were receiving a number of calls about name check clearances. Rose says that GZ knows about the clearances before they do and it is GZ who puts in that information into the database. So I asked her what was all the business about the ~{!0~}resubmitting to the boss~{!1~} in my previous calls. Seems like a lot of double talk from her, but I am not sure. It silently decided to myself that doesn~{!/~}t matter, I~{!/~}m going to keep calling~{!-!-~}. Luke

I am trying to follow the logic from the comment that …”So, the current administration is discriminating against whites also... and…….. the current administration is against its citizens to marry anyone outside America and tries to lay whatever obstacles to delay our visa. If that is the case how come some petitioners seem to get their visa without any snags… I tend to believe it is the bureaucracy and it is the bureaucracy we have to remind of our rights. Luke

Hello Argyle, I was reading your post and the “10 months” wait rang a bell. It looks like we are pretty much on the same time line. The last movement on my process is from DOS, they said it was resubmitted may 19, like that is suppose to mean something. I asked GZ why it took from September to January for them to submit our cast to DOS , and they can’t give a good answer, same old same old. Anyway we are on the same timeline. Luke

Here is mine, I am calling DOS every week, and the lady says, keep calling... application 5-13-02 NOA 6-5-2002 P3 9-14-2002 P3 resubmit 9-24-2002 Name Check submitted: 1- 23-2003 resubmit- resubmit---- Namecheck Clear ??? Interview ???

This for me and for anyone else who may need to review calling DOS. Any response from some of the other experienced members? What are the times to call DOS and times not to call? Their answering system is not the best , for instance, wouldn't it be great if they had it so the recorded message was in real time, like would say, "you are the third person.....you are now the second person...." and so on. I have called some Fridays around 4:15 and (silly me) waited until 5:30 listening to the recording.."please remain...." until I decided no one would ever pick up. Today (Tues.) I waited a good hour and a half (10:15 - 11:40 +-). Then I remembered that I might of read somewhere that they are closed Tuesdays?? Or out to lunch at certain times? When should I just hang it up and when should I continue holding? Anybody out there who can refresh my memory. A little shared wisdom would very much be appreciated. Thank you Luke
