  1. Hi Tony, These are fairly young blues, so they are not so oily. I like to ccok them with Dijon mustard and bread crumbs on high heat - 450 in the oven or even better on the grill. Wrap tight in tin foil - delicious! Dave
  2. Really? What if his hair becomes blue ? Will you accept that? Will that be cool? Sarah
  3. Last weekend, Dave and I spent my first Labour Day together with his family in Cape Cod. Cape Cod is a very beautiful and fun place. We luckily got swimming there where the water used to be very cold but not that cold on that day. On the day when we decided to leave in the afternoon, his mother and two other women and I went shopping in a mall. Dave went fishing. He loves fishing the same as I love shopping. I got impressed by lots of interesting stuff and good prices in that mall. Dave got bumped by numberless blue fish. I didn't see his hero action of catching those blue fish , but when our shopping group went back, he was standing among several shining and still breathing blue fish, among which four of them were clued together by a tree stick. He cought 8 blue fish, each one weighing about 4-5 or even more pounds. "Oola! We have the freshest Cape Cod fish to enjoy for at least a week!"That was what I was thinking at that moment. In the evening, we triumphantly drove back with tons of heavy blue fish in the cooler on our back seat. I love these blue fish but I love the guy who cought them better. Sarah
  4. I have never tried that, because I dont have such disease. But I heard that they were very old and good Chinese medicine Sarah
  5. By the way, about the stomach, I dont think our stomach would be as fragile as the glass, hehe. But I think the habit of eating and drinking is a main point to make people feel different. In America, people always drink cold soda or beer. I did that in China too. But my Mom would never drink those cold stuff. She had the same saying as stomach or etc. But I never felt sick when I did that. So I think it's a kind of habit thing. Sarah
  6. Hi, Tim: Yes, the internal heat is exactly what I mentioned of the energy. Chinese medicine thinks that swollen throat or similar diseases are caused by this heat. SO the medicine mainly lead people to push down that heat. Western medicine thinks that is because a kind of bacteria, so anti-bioctic medicine would be used to cure it. Actually when people's body get too much heat, then the bacteria would be grown, the theory is the same. But Chinese medicine points to adjust your body system. Western medicine points to killing the bacteria. As I said, I hope this can help many chinese wives not to be too panic when they face western medicines. Also helps foreigners like you in CHina wouldn't be in same circumstances too. Also, as Owen said, some Chinese medicine has really better function than western ones. It's slow but deeper. Well, at the same time, western medicine to cure some disease is stronger, faster, but not so deep. Best wishes to everyone's health. Sarah
  7. I haven't heard about that until now. But I think as this is a big thing, there must be a big group of people in the official office worrying for us, and by then we should be told or required to do something. I guess so. Any other ideas? Sarah
  8. Hi, Mick, gizmo this morning greets to you :"Miao-miao, miao-miao, nihao, nihao! " Sarah Miao miao to Gizmo the Mao! Ni Hao Oops, Mick, Giamo wants to know the "Mao" is first or second tone? The two meanings are very different. The first tone means "cat", the second tone means "hair". Oh, boy.
  9. Gizmo was scared and ran to hide under the table, saying with trembling that "Bu Yao, Bu Yao." Sarah
  10. Yes, number is condidered very important to decide luck in China. Like your house's number on the street or the floor's number where you live, nobody wants to choose the number ended with "4" because it rhymes the same as "death". When in big ceremony or festivals, people choose things in double number except 4. It may seem a little bit superstitious to some people. But according to the Chinese traditional culture"Feng Shui", the number or the position of furnitures can decide people's luck. I'm not an expert on it and I'm not very interested in it, but I think there is some saying convincible and also if possible to let some numbers make people feel good should not be a bad thing. Sarah
  11. That sounds interesting. I haven't been to a western doctor and haven't seen any other western medicine except Aspirin, which is the only one available at home now. But I think there is some western medicine having the same function as some Chinese medicine but with different saying and introduction. Right now I have no idea whether the western medicine in China are similar with those in America. For example, when we have some white bulbs in our mouth, the Chinese medicine would mean to say that is because you have too much energy in your body and then the medicine also explains in that way, while the western medicine will directly point that people should use antibiotical medicine to cure these symptom. This information is hard to tell at first. But I hope this information can help some CHinese wives to know some information to protect their health. Sarah
  12. I woud let sleeping dogs lie. First, I think they will always recognise our ID cards are from their government not from other countries, even when we go back our cards are old. Second, no matter what we do here, I think they will all require the ID cards to be collected back in CHina to process it. I guess they will do the same thing when one day Chinese people like us go back to CHina. I would rather do it then than now, which is more complicated. Sarah
  13. Nescafe Gold is much better than other, however, if I remember well, the price is about double of others. I'm a big milk drinker. I haven't felt much difference between Chinese milk and American milk, at least the milk in my home city. Different cities are very different in China. Because the milk is not suitably long time stored food, usually each city has their own dairy products especially milk. Here in America, I taste the full fat milk is the same as the milk in my home city but the no or little fat milk is very different which I feel that it is healthier than the full fat one but less delicious than the full fat one. In my city, we could also find so many different brands of milk, some of them would taste terrible. The point is people have to find out the good one. By the way, there is one brand almost most of big cities having such brand, the name is "meng niu", which is not so watery as other kinds. In Beijing and my city, I saw it and drank it. I'm not sure whether Shang Hai has it. That one tastes right. Maybe you guys can try it, see whether you like it or not. Sarah Anyway,
  14. Two years ago, this has started. The government started to collect information of every person. I heard that for a single person, the new ID card would not change a lot for the daily life. But this new card will unite many other kinds of identification cards which shall be more orderly for the governement to recognise and track each person. Sarah
  15. Hi, Mick, gizmo this morning greets to you :"Miao-miao, miao-miao, nihao, nihao! " Sarah
  16. I wish you have appretiated his comments about Chinese women. Sarah
  17. Old fart: You'd better read the replying to the post of "Qi Qiao Jie" again, about people's comment on you, including mine. I can't help laughing at your incurable insane words. You may think that to make some troubles on this website is fun. You are an extremely low quality and ashamed guy without any fun and interest. You really remind me of one person I knew before. That guy was also a businessman, kind of rich, but not that rich himself bragged. Every night he would drink lots of Jack Daniel until he was shit faced. He would say nice words only when he was very drunk. In daytime, he was full of shit, just not knowing what he was saying and what he was doing. ANd he was also very hostile to the world, thinking everything in a depressed way. Such kind of persons are usually some unsuccessful businessman, an alcoholic, making some money not that much, then forgot who themselves are. Pathetic. Please don't think it's condemning you, because they are just honest words, which contains the meaning to hope to save you from a blurred and evil world. Amen. By the way, Owen, I believe that your girl will easily find a job in America. There are many chinese restaurants here and people like CHinese food too. But unfortunately I dont have any info about who wants a Chinese cook. Only my best blessings to you and your step-daughter. Sarah
  18. This festival came from an old Chinese myth. Once upon a time, there was a guy falling in love with a lady, for sorts of reason, they were departed by an old Chinese god and were sent to the two ends of the sky. They were not allowed to meet each year except on this day. Usually, people eat a kind of home made fried square cookies, we call it "qi zi kuai", the first word has the same pronunciation of the name of this old traditional festival. It's kind of interesting. No matter what, to have a festival to celebrate is a happy thing to do. Sarah
  19. Hi, James T: When I went to the interview, my interviewer was an American who at first spoke perfect Chinese. Seeing this, you and your fiance should be able to release a little bit? Sarah
  20. Hi, old fart: That's true that Dave has been holding me back to respond you, not because he wanted to protect you but he thought you should be ignored! I agree that you should be ignored-----after I tell you the following It seems you are very unlucky to get a woman who is not so great---at least in your eyes, which makes your psychology is going so abnormal almost insane. I actually agree with you on one point that in this world, there are some women marrying men only for money, no matter in our ancient China or in your modern America! Well probably you have got such one, then it's too bad. It means nothing only that you are a stupid and unlucky man, a totally looser! Last time when I wanted to reply you, I thought to say I was sorry for you, but it seems that you dont deserve people feel sorry for you. Or maybe your woman is not such kind of woman, only that you are just too mean. Many of words written by you were like written by a drunk. I really doubt are you really a very rich man? Or you think your some money has become the whole excuse of your wealth? You seem pretty much like a hill billy. By the way, nobody in this world is anybody. We all need to learn how to respect other people, especially you----even you are an old fart. Do you know that actually in this website, nobody is old fart except you so that I dont understand why you call yourself"another old fart". The first person you need to learn to respect is your woman. Don't think that you gave her something is something. YOur wanting to give her something means you still have a heart. When you even lose this your heart, then you'd better...... I'm very happy that since I came America, all the Americans I have met are nice, smart, friendly people, not jerks like you, or America would never develope in this way. God bless all the good people! Sarah
  21. R2D2, I'm very impressed with your Chinese. They are very interesting. It seems you have some accent. SiChuan accent or Canton accent?---- Just kidding.----actually I think it's very good. Sarah
  22. Last week, Dave took me to Six Flags, a place that we were thrown up and down! Dave first took me to a bridge-like toy, introducing me that”this one was built very long time ago. You can see the wood is very old and easily broken. The steel is rusted and not so safe. When the seats passed there, the bridge may fall down. Every year, some people were killed from there…….” “What?” I said, and couldn’t believe my ears and tried only to stop him. Even I was breathing very fast after playing that one, after that day,now I would calmfully say that the first one was pretty good and slow one. Hehe! Then one by one, the being thrown process started. All the time in the process of playing, I was closing my eyes tightly! Holding Dave’s arms tightly and screaming the most of all my life! The toys would raise you up to hundreds of height in one second, then pushed you down to the half air in half second, when you just tried to open your eyes, it raised you to another half height then suddenly threw you down to the bottom! Or another one, swinging you to east, down, north, up, swirl, then come back to east, then west….Please don’t think these were finished in one minute, because they were finished in one second! You would feel when your head just reached one point, then your down part body has to be grabbed to another place. In that one, Dave sat at my right arm, a five-year-old boy sat at my left arm. When I was screaming with my twisted body, all the time I heard the boy was saying,:”oh yes! Oh yes!oh, yes!” and Dave was laughing and laughing , and I was “aaaaaahhhhhhh-----------!!!!” Superman is a toy that very similar with the railway toy my newphew has been playing. When it first started, our seats line were climbing up the hilly bridge so it was very slow. Then when it reached the highest point, the most scary part started! The whole long line crazily rushed down toward the end of the hill, then fastly up to another hill with the force, then rushed down, then up then swirl, then down. When it rushed down, your body is in 90 degree angle, with your upper body facing toward the dear ground! You could feel that you would in any second jumped or be grabbed out of the seat and be swallowed into the huge noised of that superman railway! Every seat was taken a pic in a middle way when the seat rushed down. All of them held up their hands with crazily happy smiling face as if they have conquered the batman, only I buried my face into Dave’s seat, my hair was flying messily, and Dave was laughing hard! We stayed there until it closed. Now in our room, were many animal toys Dave won as prizes that day to accompany gizmo. And our sweet self-taken little pics taken in a small dark house in Six-Flags were pasted on the gate of refrigerator. Sarah
  23. Congratulations! Now it's not time to review, but to celebrate and look forward. Dave&Sarah
  24. About what style, you should get the info from your gal; about how big, it's up to your financial situation. But about the ring's size, you can widen it in China.Note:you can only widen it but not make it smaller. Sarah
  25. Beauty is only a comparative idea based on a general environment. It's almost like a fashion. While in China, there was a saying that too much sunshine can cause skin cancer, and also to be white was supposed to be beautiful. The psychology to be good looking is nothing wrong. But actually this idea of being white had become out of date two years before I came to America. Many young girls and boys in my home city made them very dark in summer to match their shorts and t-shirts, which nobody thought to be ugly. And some HangKong movie stars became famous after they made their skin dark). No matter how people think or look, no matter it's in China or America,no matter you are rich or poor, the real beauty of a person comes from the good heart not just from the good looking.
