  1. It has taken a long time, but we finally got the email saying that we can schedule the IR1 Interview in Guangzhou. My wife is about 3 months pregnant and we are concerned about the medical exam as we expect that she will be required to get some vaccinations that we would prefer to delay until after the baby is born. Should we move ahead with scheduling the interview even if we know we will want to wait on the vaccinations? Also, am I missing something, or am i not able to get information about how to schedule the medical exam until after we schedule the interview? Can we do the health check in Shanghai?
  2. HI, Is there a particular doctor that my wife will need to go to? I think that she has to get some shots. when she sees the doctor, is there anything in particular that she will have to explain to the doctor?
  3. First off, these forums have been a great help in our visa process. My wife and I are preparing for our interview later this month (we live in Shanghai, DCF in Beijing), and there are just a few details I'm not sure about. 1. Police report: we've lived in SH for 10 years, wife's hukou is Jiangsu. Our local SH police station said they can provide a police report covering 2008 to now. Is that sufficient for the interview, or do we need to get something covering a longer period of time, which would require trip back to Jiangsu? 2. For medical exam in Shanghai, when are results available? I've read they are available later same afternoon when done at GZ facility, but not sure about Shanghai. 3. Any idea of what current vaccinations are required? We don't have her records; it seems everyone is in this situation. My wife is still breastfeeding our baby, and I've read that most vaccinations are fine while nursing, but some clarity on which vaccines they will give her would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. My wife has her passport and visa in hand. We are getting ready for our move to America, but we need to settle a few disagreements first. 1. My wife already received her first round of vaccinations, but still hasn't gone back for her final vaccination shot. Some Chinese wives she has spoken to in some QQ groups say that the second vaccine is unnecessary. I say better safe than sorry. Does she need this final vaccine before leaving China, or can she get it in America. 2. Also, we are looking for the cheapest possible flight back to NY for this summer. All of the cheapest flights have overnight layovers in Tokyo. My wife thinks that she is not allowed in Japan and will get sent back to China. I disagree. Can we buy this ticket with nothing to worry about?
  5. Hi I am on cgi website now. First of all, my case status has been updated again yesterday but neither my attorney nor I received the P4 from GUZ IV Unit. However, I am able to log onto the interview scheduling page since yesterday afternoon. Anyone know what's going on? Am I going to get the P4 in EMS instead of email? Now I am facing a prob. I am looking forwards to an interview date next week. Currently the earliest date available is June 22. This morning when I log on to cgi, the page tells me I am reaching the maximal page viewing and I HAVE to finish the interview scheduling during THIS session. So I suppose my account might be temporarily locked for certain amount of time? And do you think on Thursday (today, china time), is it likely new appointment dates would be available? Any advice is much appreciated. Timeline of my case: E1 SENT TO GUZ MARCH GUZ RECEIVED MAY 1ST AP MAY 20TH 2ND AP MAY 21TH 3RD AP MAY 28TH 4TH AP JUN 11TH
  6. It's been quite awhile since I've posted around here, thanks to all my questions having readily available answers. Hubby and I had our petition approved on January 23 after submitting it on January 14 in Guangzhou. We have since submitted the DS-260 (P2 packet, correct?) and received the email to schedule the interview. First, it's my understanding that you don't receive the medical exam information until after you have scheduled the interview. Have any recent interviewees had issues getting expedited medical exam results or having the medical exam done the day before the interview? What about the fee? Second, is the hukou, or household registration needed at the interview? Third, my list of items to give the hubby to submit at the interview: - DS-260 confirmation page - my passport (does a copy suffice?) - hubby's passport - passport photos (how many?) - notarial birth certificate - white books (I thought they already collected this...do they want additional copies and/or the red books?) - police certificate - medical exam docs - sponsor's I-864 form (that's me) and last three years (2011-2013) of tax returns (I filed back taxes as I didn't owe anything) - joint sponsor's I-864 form including a copy of her birth certificate, tax transcripts, pay stubs (no W-2 as she just started her job in January), letter regarding her new employment - a letter explaining my domicile (I am also including mail sent about student loans and my US bank account) - originals of photos submitted in I-130 packet (the intake officer specifically told me to have my PDF of photos printed as actual photographs) - additional photos from our wedding and "honeymoon" trip Lastly, I'm concerned about the affidavit of financial support from the joint sponsor. My parents have sent everything via DHL. There are no W-2s (and I can't recall the reason why my mom declined to do so.) My mom just started a new job in January so she has included a letter stating her employment along with pay stubs. Most importantly, they haven't filed their 2013 taxes. Will the VO automatically make us wait for that information? My mom always files at the last possible minute, and we plan on scheduling an interview before the April 15th deadline. Any thoughts on this? I am aware that the P3 packet will provide specific instructions about what is needed and the medical exam, but if there is anything else I may be overlooking, by all means say so. I am really grateful for this forum because I would feel entirely overwhelmed without having some pros to receive sound advice from. A very big thank you in advance, Marissa in Xi'an
  7. Grrrr.... I had a PDF which included the checklist of materials needed for the visa interview as well as the contact details for the designated hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. I've lost it. Does anyone have a copy they could attach here and/or the phone number for the hospital in GZ which does the medicals? Thanks!
  8. I've studied the medical topics and did not see that anyone had asked this question. My wife is 5.5 months pregnant with our second child. We're anticipating that she'll be around 7 to 8 months when we go to GZ for her interview. As she's pregnant, there are some examination procedures she can't do (e.g. x-rays), and some which should be handled with care (e.g. not taking too much blood). Any idea how will this affect the procession of our case?
  9. A few questions relating to K1/K2 1. Does anyone have specific information as to what documents are included in the K1 P3 and when and how they arrive to the beneficiary? Via email, snail mail, both? 2. What documents/forms are included in the P4, and when and how is the P4 information sent? 3. I think the police reports are good for only 30-days from date of issue. Are they requested during P3 or P4? 4. When are the K1/K2 medical testing and information taken (P3 or P4)? Pre-interview? How much does it cost? I have looked around a bit, but am not able to find a list of what documents and forms are requested after the P2 and when they arrive. I've seen a short list on VJ, but it's not specific. Thanks guys....
  10. My husband and I went for his medical a day after Pkt 4 arrived due to the short time between notice and interview and i'm glad we did as it won't be ready for a few days...Here's some info... 1) Beijing location is very easy to find and is currently located at line 5 HepingLiBeiJie exit A1 300 meters ahead on left (the recording on the phone says they will be moving soon though) 2) No appointment is necessary, you must be fasting (no eating for 12 hours prior), bring your passport and a copy of it, a copy of your appointment letter, and 4 passport photos, arrive between 8 and 10am 3) We arrived around 8:20 (keep in mind my hsband and I speak limited Chinese) and asked the main reception where to go, they told us 4th floor (in chinese), we found a room on the 4th floor with 2 receptionists where they were doing intake. Chairs were lined up with about 4 families waiting. It was our turn within 20minutes. The woman who was behind the computer asked if we speaked Chinese and of course we said a little, but she was scared and shy and called someone that spoke English. They took the passport copy, 3 pictures, copy of the letter, asked our address, phone number, the usuals and directed us to go to the first room. Oh, we also signed authoriztion forms for HIV, TB, X-Ray, etc. tests to be done (Also check the info sheet they type up, there were many mistakes on ours at first!!!!) 4) The first room was the 'physical exam' - though I wasn't allowed inside (doctor escorted me out) my husband said he had to take all his clothes off and that the doctor poked around everywhere. he then asked medical history in chinglish. The doctor gave a thumbs up and off to the next place we went 5) Next was payment - payment is taken on the first floor and they take the print out that the doctor in the physical exam gave us (has vaccination requirements listed). my husband paid about 1,300RMB for the exam, lab work, and vaccinations. This fee varies depending on the vaccinations needed and I also know that the childrens exams are more expensive as well. 6)Next started the fun part, weaving in and out of a Chinese hospital going from room to room, floor to floor. If you've ever went through a PSB visa exam it's the same kind of procedure. Bloodwork, urine, ultrasound, ECG, ENT, Dental, Vaccination, X-ray,vision. 7) We finished and handed the paperwork in and they said it will be done for pick up on Monday (We did the exam on a Wednesday) Though the procedure was pretty painless, my husband was pretty tired and hungry by the time we were done. He also said his arms and body ached (from vaccinations) later in the day. The only thing that threw us was that he has to return for 2 more vaccinations before his paperwork can be issued. They said we can come, tomorrow, the next day, or Monday as long as they are given before we get the papers. I am happy we planned ahead as it seems the Beijing medical check results don't come as fast as they do at the other places available for the medicals to take place. PS - language was not a problem, as humans we seem to be able to act out things pretty well if verbal communication isn't understood!
  11. I have read on here before that people went to have their medical exam in Guangzhou a couple days before their interview and that this was fine. However when we received our packet 4, in the information I saw this "You must go to the designated panel physician to have your examination at least two weeks before your visa interview appointment date." Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a new rule? We do not live that close to Guangzhou and were hoping to avoid having to make another trip there just for the medical exam. I was hoping someone who has interviewed since the March 16th changes could clear this up for me. Thanks in advance
  12. Hello everyone, Firstly, I just want to thank everyone for providing detailed information/tips/experience regarding their immigration process. The information really helped me out a lot in the beginning. Secondly, I'm sorry if this topic is in the wrong location. Here's a quick rundown of our application status so far. -Starting the DCF process in early Oct. 2012 in Beijing -Received interview confirmation in mid Dec. 2012 -Interview date 22nd of Jan. 2013 When we went to pick up the medical exam at the Shanghai International Travel Healthcare Center, they gave us a large, sealed envelope with her chest x-ray film, a sealed white envelope, and then another booklet with a summary of her medical checkup. The nurse said we'll have to bring along the huge x-ray film to Guangzhou just in-case they ask for it, do we really need to bring it with us? Thanks again for your input! Kind Regards, Ming
  13. One of the requirements for me to get a Zvisa to teach in China is I have to take a medical exam beforehand (of course after I arrive there I have to take a second medical exam for the work and residency papers). I asked and it is mandatory. The Chinese consulate provides the form the doctor fills out here. Does anyone have any more info on the exam or how I can do it cheaply? From what I understand it could cost hundreds of dollars.
  14. So my fiancée was told there is now only one hospital in Guangzhou approved for the medical exam. Is this true? And she called the hospital and was told with a child under 14 years, the daughter must have the medical exam at least 4 days before the interview due to a skin test that takes 48 hours for results. Anybody else had to do this? That means more missed work for her and myself.
  15. Hi, short time reader, first time poster. I've been living & working in China for the last 4 years, and my wife and I have been married since last October. This coming August I will be moving back to my home in the US to further my education, and my wife will follow me over when she gets a green card. This January we filed an I-130, and are waiting for that to be approved. In the meantime we are trying to complete as much of the paperwork and gather as many of the necessary documents as possible before I leave. This past week we went to her hometown to get a police certificate, and we are thinking of going to BJ in a couple of weeks to get the medical exam done. Is there anything I should be worried about besides the exam results only lasting for a years time? Can we just make an appointment at a certified hospital, show up with I-693 form, and get what we need done? Thanks a lot for your replies!
  16. My fiancee had her K1 interview and medical exam in May. She got a blue slip due to her CCP membership. They requested more documents in July, which we turned in. Now it's September and we're still waiting. My questions: How long is a Medical Examination valid for? Does it need to still be valid at the time of: 1. Visa issuance and 2. entry into the U.S.? In my case should my fiancee get another medical examination? If anyone knows the law in this area, please advise. Thank you. Robert
  17. I understand my wife needs both the medical exam and she is going to need vaccinations but I have a bunch of questions: 1. There is a list of four hospitals listed for vaccinations. If you want to do this in Guangzhou, it appears you would also want to do the medical at The Health Care Center of of Guangdong International Travel. Can you get both the vaccinations and medical all done in one day? 2. Our document intake is June 7(Tues) and the interview is June 8(Wed). June 6 is a Chinese Holiday (Dragon Boat Festival). Any experience whether these places are open on Chinese Holidays? I am going to have my wife call tomorrow. 3. Plan B would be to have her fly to Beijing next week and do it at Beijing International Travel Healthcare Center. Any experience with this hospital? 4. Has anyone had any experience with getting these vaccinations done elsewhere in China and just having the vaccinations verified? Is there any advantage to this? 5. My wife and I are covered by a Global Medical Plan through my work. Has anyone had success getting this reimbursed through their medical insurance? Any experience/help is greatly appreciated.
  18. Greetings; We'll just one question for now, I hope. Indeed my wife is pregnant and she has expressed concerned about the medical. I understand that part of the medical is to get chest x-rays, correct? Do pregnant women still need to do this since it is obviously detrimental the health of our un born child and to my wife? I need to put her at ease concerning this matter, oh does it matter how far along she is which determines this answer? Dan
  19. Hello, My Fiancee will have her interiew Tuesday. (knock on wood). She already did her medical checkup and has the sealed envelope in hand. The doctors did tell her that there is one shot that she will need to do assuming she passes the interview. She is wanting to know if she passes the interview and go get the shot, will the shot be done immediately because she wants to do everything at the same time and doesn't want to travel back to Guangzhou. Also will the medical shot require her passport or something? Thanks, Vinny
  20. do anyone know what paperwork if any is needed for the medical exam?
  21. Hello everyone. I've read through so many helpful topics here, and have read through the Guangzhou Consulate website, but the answer to this question is escaping me. There are references in several posts, that the DS-156 and/or the DS-157 Forms are needed at the medical exam. Yet, I can find no mention of this requirement in the information from the Consulate, or the excellent "Kitchen Sink" posts. Are these Forms required at the Exam? And if so, how many copies? My Fiancee will have her Exam at the end of this month, in Shanghai, and I hope that someone could clarify this, for us. Maybe I have misread something? Maybe missed something? Maybe I'm just burnt out....
  22. Hello, we'll be in Guangzhou July 13th(noon)-July 19th. Interview is July 15th in the morning. I was hoping to find some answers to my questions! 1. We'll be rush processing the medical check since we won't be able to go there until the afternoon on the 13th or the morning of 14th! Do you guys think there is sufficient time for the medical check stuff? I've heard of other people doing the medical check the day before the interview, but today I can't find any of the posts. 2. At the medical interview, will they fill out the forms in Chinese? Do I have to insist that they fill it out in English? Will they write it in Chinese and then I get it translated? Also, can the first sections(name, DOB, etc) be filled out by me before we go there? 3. I don't have much of a clue how the vaccination stuff works. Do they just give her all the neccessary shots in a day? Some of them need to be followed up by other shots. Will not having all the followup shots be acceptable at the interview? 3. We'll be leaving on the 19th early afternoon. Mrs. Yang (or whoever I was talking to when I called their place) told me that it usually doesn't take long to get the visa after the interview. She told me this because I originally told her to book a room until the 22nd, but she discouraged me (which was strange to hear from a hotel). Since our interview is on Wednesday morning, is there a good chance we will get the visa before we leave? If not, can the Yangs send it to us?
  23. Hi everyone, My fiance went for the medical exam, they told her It is valid for one year, she toke the exam on October, 2008. We were denied first fiance visa, new she has an interview next week. They did not give her (The original Medical results in sealed envelope). I went today for ACH, the VO was a very nice man, he said he will noted on her file. Dose she need the envelope or they have the old one which is valid for one year. Thanks!
  24. Hi everyone, I have a question........ If Ling and the boys have their Medical exam on the 18th of Nov. can they pick up on the 19th?? I am wondering if we need to have the medical exam sooner?? because her interview is on the 20th of Nov. Tom and Ling
  25. She said that the doctors were extremely rude and condescending towards her. It first started when she called to see when she could come in to have the exam. They told her that she should come in at 8am because it can take many hours. She told them that she couldnt come in the morning because she has to work. Now she lives and works in GZ and knows where the hospital is and where she should go. When she told them this, they told her that if she comes in the afternoon that if she does not complete the exam then she might have to do it again another time. She decided to take her chance and go this afternoon. So she goes in the door and the doctors were very rude and condescending over the smallest things. For example, she was supposed to give him 4 pieces of paper and she accidentally only gave him 3. He then yelled at her "What's the matter with you?! You are supposed to have 4 sheets..." So she found the fourth sheet and he grabbed it out of her hand. Needless to say this was making her even more nervous and humiliated. She said the staff was very unfriendly as a whole. I guess in medical school in China, a good bedside manner is not taught nor is service with a smile. I dont know about other hospitals, but at least in the 1st Hospital of Guangzhou, tell your SO's to prepare for military style boot camp. Oh and as a side note, it only took her just over 2 hours to complete
