  1. Update: We did Infopass on Monday. They didn't really tell us much of anything besides that the Ellis system was down and couldn't check the status of his card. They did say the only center that issues green cards is backlogged. We were both elated and surprised that his green card arrived today. We went to SSA for a second time on Aug.9 and we are still waiting on his SSN (they said two weeks). We were able to open a join bank account at TD because his application for an SSN is pending. Once the card arrives, he'll be on his way to finding employment and getting started with the driving license process. Thanks for all the advice.
  2. I'm going to take both your and Randy's advice. SSA office and then InfoPass appointment. I'll try and find someone, or at least ask to speak to someone who is well-versed in immigration. Thanks for the advice
  3. Ok, thanks for this info. Is there any resources on this site about USCIS Ellis Immigration System troubles? I'm going to call SSA tomorrow and schedule an InfoPass appointment if nothing comes of it. Taking THAT long to get him into the computer is VERY rare. I don't recall ever hearing of it before. I think it'll take the Infopass appointment to get anywhere with it, unless his entry just happens to come through in the meantime. I'm going to try both routes and get this resolved this week.
  4. The whole key here is getting him entered into the USCIS (Homeland Security) computer. This should have been done automatically after being processed at the POE. Even 14 days is a long time for this. You can check with the SS folks to see if he shows up now, and/or schedule the Infopass appointment to talk to an actual Immigrations Officer. He should be able to access the information and tell you what needs to be done. The USCIS is on a different computer system from the Dept. of State - the computer problems being experienced by the Dept. of State should have no bearing on this. Ok, thanks for this info. 5. We did go after the two week window and they told us none of his info was in the system as well as to wait 21 business days and return around August 9 (we'll go on the following Monday). I only have copies of the notarial birth certificate. The SS personnel we spoke with at the SSA office said we just need the form along with his passport.
  6. We entered the US via NYC on June 9. Am I overtly anxious about the fact that we haven't received anything yet, especially his social security card or a notice? We went to the local SS office and they told us his info wasn't yet entered into the system by the Department of State or Homeland Security (whichever department receives the immigrant packet after POE). Is there something I've done wrong? I called NVC and they made me feel like a total moron for being ill-informed. I asked about SS card, when to file I-751 as my husband has the I-551 right now which I know is good for a year but at POE the expiration period they put is two years. So my dire questions are as follows: First, I tried updating the profile on the USCIS Ellis Immigration System but it doesn't allow me to submit his passport and visa page, instead the drop down menu only includes birth certificate, baptism certificate, consular or certificate of report of birth. Is this why we haven't yet received any notification because there is no address, even though US address was indicated in the visa packet, on DS-260, and other forms? Second, should I schedule an appointment at the local office? I'm aware this is done through Infopass. Third, is there anything else I need to do? Thanks as always for the help. Marissa

  8. Great news! The hubby's passport and packet have arrived from the Consulate after we sent additional documents. The CITIC bank we selected for delivery received it on April 29. The bank informed us they called us twice, however, we never received the calls and with the May Day Holiday decided we'd wait to inquire. My husband also received two emails stating the passport and packet had been collected from the Consulate and the delivery location. We brought our additional documents on April 8 and the CITIC bank sent them on April 9. Can anyone tell me about where or how to pay the $169 fee? Thanks, Marissa
  9. There are no fees at CITIC bank when sending additional documents. Give or take two weeks, however, the answer came from logging into CEAC: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==
  10. I'm happy to report that it seems what I provided was in fact "enough," and my husband's visa has been issued. Now we wait for the return of his passport...
  11. I'm surprised no one got to this sooner. Yes, hopefully, that IS "enough", but that's all at the discretion of the Visa Officer. That's usually just one more hoop you have to jump through. When they ask for your passport, it's almost always so that they can place the visa in it. Yes, the white slip did request we send his passport along with the requested documents from the pink slip.
  12. Good questions! We received a white form with my wife's name and case number filled-in by hand near the top and a checklist of requests for further work on the application; for us, the "updated police report" item was checked. I think this form is called a 221(g), but it didn't have this code on it so I may be wrong. We didn't pay any fees at CITIC for sending forms, and I turned in the documents without an envelope so that the bank employees could inspect them before they were sent. Hope that helps. Another quick question about the requested documentation submission form. Any idea what the UID number is or where I may find that info? Is it on the barcode attached to the passport?

Yes, this definitely helps and since you completed P4 recently, I'm glad to have some up-to-date info on these proceedings.
  14. Hi Msittig, Congratulations! So did your wife also receive a white and pink slip that stated you were preliminarily approved, pending document submission? Did you pay any fees at CITIC bank for sending the documents? Did you send it in a sealed or unsealed envelope? I'd appreciate the help. Marissa
