  1. Update: We got a reply from Guangzhou today saying that the Visa was being sent. This makes almost exactly a month from the time that her passport was sent to Guangzhou.
  2. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm hoping it will be soon, as I'm sure everyone else has experienced, we're both sick of the waiting and not knowing. This site helped a lot, and I'll make sure to update so that it will come up in a search if anyone else has a similar issue.
  3. Thanks, yeah I noticed the same thing with the interview. I inquired and then a week later I got an interview date. The wife and I have been taking turns emailing them, but she's worried they'll get pissed off if we email too much.
  4. Hi, My Wife had her interview at the end of October and everything was okay, but they didn't have an I-864 with my signature on it, so she got a final processing/call-in form, saying she was approved and just needed an original I-864 sent in with her passport. The VO said it would take him 5 days to process it and send it back. We got confirmation that the consulate received the package on the 6th, but as of the 21st, the consulate is saying they haven't yet seen the package. How long does it typically take before mail is noticed at Guangzhou? Thanks for any insight you may have.
  5. I've been living in China for the past 4 years, and finally moving back to the United States at the end of July. My Wife and I are at the stage where the case is at the NVS, and we've paid both the IV and Affidavit of Support fees, I also electronically returned the DS-230 to show my US address as the place that should be sent information in the future. Now I'm left with a few questions. 1. How long does it typically take from the time the fees are paid to the time when the P3 arrives? Both fees were paid by the middle of march, and I'm just trying to figure out time schedules. 2. Should I bring back the translated marriage certificate, police record, and birth certificate with me to the US, and have my wife fill out the other necessary forms and give them to me electronically? I'm thinking because they need to be sent to Vermont that it would be faster to send them from the US. 3. I've seen some varying times as to when the interview is scheduled from the time the P3 packet is received. Visa journey says it's an average of 85 days from when P3 is received, whereas this site seems to indicate 4-5 weeks. Is this time set from around the time the petitioner sends the package, or when the NVS enters the information into their system? Thanks for all the help and information! It's great to have a resource like this. EDIT: THIS IS FOR CR1
  6. I'm guessing they've loosened things up for tour group visas, whereas unstructured trips still come under more scrutiny. Still pretty ridiculous
  7. Thanks for the information. I filed in the States because the Embassy I contacted said that there has been a change, and that all I-130s must go through the Chicago lockbox, and DCF was no longer possible.
  8. Thanks for the response Dan, One more question, how is the NVC case number received? Will I receive it by email, at my US mailing address, or do I have to call the NVC with my CIS case number to receive it?
  9. Hello Everyone, I got an email yesterday saying that my I-130 had been approved, and that information about the next step would be sent to me. The problem is that the mailing address for my wife is unusable. Will they send the information to my mailing address or hers? Right now I'm a resident of China, and when I submitted the I-130 I used our apartment address on the application, which does not have a working mailbox. When they sent a request for more evidence I had to call and change it to my US mailing address, which is fine, but the address listed for my wife is still unusable. So will they be sending information about the next step to her or to me? If it's to me, is there any reason to change her address in the future to a place where she can get mail? If it's to her, would I call USCIS or the NVC to clear things up. Thanks a lot for any information, it's very much appreciated.
  10. Thanks a lot for the information, It's very much appreciated. The visa process so far hasn't been all that difficult, but I know that minor mistakes can end up costing a lot of time and money. I'm really grateful to get the advice of those who have been through it.
  11. Hi, short time reader, first time poster. I've been living & working in China for the last 4 years, and my wife and I have been married since last October. This coming August I will be moving back to my home in the US to further my education, and my wife will follow me over when she gets a green card. This January we filed an I-130, and are waiting for that to be approved. In the meantime we are trying to complete as much of the paperwork and gather as many of the necessary documents as possible before I leave. This past week we went to her hometown to get a police certificate, and we are thinking of going to BJ in a couple of weeks to get the medical exam done. Is there anything I should be worried about besides the exam results only lasting for a years time? Can we just make an appointment at a certified hospital, show up with I-693 form, and get what we need done? Thanks a lot for your replies!
