  1. Hi everyone, I'm about to move to Houston, TX while my wife stays in China so that I can get a job for the affidavit of support. Our documents have made it to NVC. We are waiting for the NVC to send the information to Guangzhou. My wife can't get a travel visa to visit me. We have no idea how long this process will take. Would it make sense for my wife to apply for a K-3 and then switch her status once she moves to the USA? Is this even possible? Do I even know what I'm talking about? I am in the middle of researching this. Lee
  2. Have spoken to NVC 4 times now. They say to go to ustraveldocs.com, login and then go to APPLICANT PROFILE and go through Step 3 to Step 7. I'm trying to set up the passport pickup location for my wife's daughter's passport/visa after the interview. Any help? Tired of calling NVC as they just tell me the same thing each time. When I go in here it doesn't say APPLICANT PROFILE anyplace!!
  3. I applied immigration visa for my parents, now the case is at NVC. I have submitted civil documents to NVC electronically. Now just found out my parents’ original birth notarial certificate and marriage notarial certificate were lost. They are over 70 and do not have birth certificate. Probably they can get another, but the new one will not match the copies at NVC , each notarial has unique number on it. Now I feel hopeless and do not know what to do. If anyone could provide any kind help or experience, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you advance!
  4. Hello everyone, I think I am going to be a semi-regular here off and on until I can finish my cousin's apps. I have recently taken over handing his paperwork. The older gentleman who is supposed to be a veteran at this is too old and forgetful. NVC keeps sending back materials. Eventually, I would like to learn the whole process of how to apply. I am not sure how to begin since I am kind of confused and he does not know what happened exactly himself. That and he is a recent immigrant himself and my communication ability with him is limited meaning I speak Chinese at a very elementary level. So, he is applying for a visa. It has been green-lit I assume. NVC was processing under a GUZ number. The lastest emails he gave me from October show that there were a lot of problems with missing info on the I-864, Affidavit of support, along with other missing support documents. The directions are to send the documents via snail mail and use the included cover sheet with snail mail OR electronically which requires a subject line with the case number. The NVC website tells you to OPT-IN before sending files to them through pdf format. At this point, I have no idea if they chose Electronic Processing or not. The I-864 has a GZO number and a GUZ number in parentheses. The snail mail packet of documents sent are returned with a letter stating that this case is going through electronic processing now. All of the documents need to be scanned and submitted that way. So, piecing it together I assumed these things: 1. A GUZ number is converted to a GZO number when electronic processing is chosen. 2. You have to OPT-IN before you can start sending PDF files, even if you have chosen Electronic Processing. Is this about right? I have no idea and he doesnt know what happened and the old man who did it insists that they should still be mailing it in, even though his attempt the first time was sent back with directions to scan and email it. I stupidly scanned them and submitted them via email recently. But, I am guessing since I didn't OPT-IN and more than likely, they did not opt-in, that I need to: 1. Opt-in 2. Send them pdfs again. I hope someone who has done this process or going through can give me some hints on the steps needed. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, Every Friend here. After a long 10 months wait and NBC for no reason sending my wife and kid's I130 to field office for judication, I received the notice from my local field USCIS office to have an interview with me. I just finished the interview and was told both cases are approved. The officer who interview me told me there was no extra notes on our cases and he didn't understand why the NBC took so long and why they didn't approve the case by themselves and sooner. When I filed my application, my daughter was only three month old, she is now 13 month old. I missed all the happy time being with her since she and my wife are still in China. Since I filed I130s myself (I checked with the USCIS field officer, there was no errors on our applications), I would like to have your help again to complete the Visa application process. I have a few questions for the Visa process: 1. My wife and daughter are living in Shanghai, even there is a consulate in Shanghai, their interviews will still be in Guangzhou, correct? 2. Is the efiling for the Visa still available for our cases? 3. I have not yet filed my 2013 tax return. I did obtained 2010-2012 tax transcript. It is obvious not enough time to get the tax transcript even I am filing now. Can I send in the 2013 tax filing without the IRS approval? 4. What kind of time frame currectly for getting the green card visa after the I130 approval? Thank you in advance!
  6. "The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified." My wife's daughter is waiting for the interview at GZ for her visa. Anyone know how long we might expect to wait before they give us the interview date? They sent the above on 5/9/2014 Thanks!
  7. Just got the case number issued: GUZ2014566XXX after two months. Peeew! Is the wheel going to spin faster? 1, pay the bill (10 days, was told) 2, DS-261 3. OPTIN Right order? TGIF indeed!
  8. Hey, guys! I just transferred from VJ to here cause our case was received by GUZ consulate two days ago. Here s where I am confused about: Our case was expedited at NVC and NVC notified us (per a call) that they can no longer provide info on our case since our case has been sent to the consulate. And on CEAC, our case was received on May 5 and it changed from "in transit" to "ready". But we have not received ANY email from the consulate about an IV date or any instructions (P4?). HOwever, I searched on VJ and found many members have received the famous P4 email on the same day as their case was received by the consulate. SHould I be worried? I called CGI Stanley earlier and got the "robot" standard answer. We are doing EP. Does anyone know whats going on? Or How long do we still have to wait? Thanks for your answers! We really appreciate it!
  9. Today nvc ceac shows our case is ready. The protocol has changed a lot so need help on how things will go now. We've completed the I-160 online for both k1 and k2, and printed/saved the confirmation. I am finishing up the financials to send. She has ordered police reports for herself and daughter. So, do we just wait for paperwork in mail or can she do the medical now and pay fees? I haven't been able to find a step by step procedure for GZ K1, so thanks in advance for you help
  10. I called the NVC today and they provided me a new case number for my K1/K2 (begins with GUZ). Now that I have this case number does it enable me start other processes online? It's very difficult to find clear information about this new process.
  11. Brought up a couple of times in the forums. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2993.html#4 Over the past year or so USCIS has been tying the two petitions together and approving them at the same time, and sending both to NVC at the same time. The above statement by DOS makes sense, the whole reason the "Life-ACT" K-3 was developed was for the Spouse of US citizen to be able to enter the USA and WAIT for I-130 approval, at the time K-3 was developed the I-130 was taking a VERY long time to process through USCIS to approval, and the I-129F for non-immigrant fiance visa was fairly quick, so it was setup so that a spouse waiting for approval of their visa petition can be treated like a fiancee and come to the USA in about the same time as a fiancee. I guess all the extra fees paid to USCIS has actually resulted in some improvement in service, the I-130 no longer is taking years to approve so the K-3 is starting to become a thing of the past.[/url]
  12. Hi there My fiances I-129F got approved. I received the I-797 notice of action letter. On it, I was told to take that to the consulate in chengdu to complete the visa process. But I did some research online and called the chengdu consulate, I was told all fiancé visa are being process in Guangzhou. Is that right. What is my next course of action. Should I wait for p3? I tried calling everywhere for info but the people on the phone don't seems very clear. Will I be receiving p3 here in the United States or will my fiancé receive it in china? I read somewhere online that the NVS don't mail to foreign address. So should I start downloading the p3 forms and mail that to Guangzhou or should I wait. My I-129F was filed on October 18 and it got approved November 18. Thanks a lot!!!!
  13. Sent in all papers for Affidavit of Support (I-864/I-864A) for my wife's daughter. Got a reply from NVC that a number of mistakes were made. NOT! Each area they said had an issue was right on! Some they said weren't filled out (like where my wife was born, SSN#, etc.) but they were all filled out! They also said the fields that indicated the number of immigrants had to coincide with each other throughout the form (there is only one (1) immigrant) and they did! I of course called up NVC and the woman just said, "Oh it must've been someone new and they made a mistake." So we have to send them all in again even though the mistakes they said we had...we didn't. Another delay. As I said in the subject, sometimes you wonder if it will ever be done. Have a great day!!
  14. So last year we filed I-130's for each of Jie's parents. It's at NVC and each just got assigned their NVC case#'s. We got 2 invoices, 1 for each of them to pay the $88 AOS processing fee and I'm getting ready to pay it at www.ceac.state.gov I enter moms NVC# and then the invoice # and it takes me to a new screen where I'll enter payment info. I assumed there would be an $88 fee for each parent, but here is what is a bit confusing: on the screen where I pay it says Payment Amount: $88.00 Payment For: 1 AOS Fee for 2 Related Cases 1 fee for 2 related cases? Again, I figure there are 2 fees, but is this saying we only need to pay one fee for both parents, or one for each? I just don't want to overpay our govt.
  15. Quick question. I have everything all scanned and ready for sending via email to NVC for the supporting docs for the DS-260. Can I send multiple emails or does it have to be one email? I have several larger PDF files to send (photos, insurance papers, etc.). I know if I try to attach all of them and send them in one it probably won't send. Thoughts? Experience? THANKS!
  16. I know it may seem like I ask a lot of questions about everything, but I just want to make sure I get this all right. Would my wife need to fill out the I-864EZ? The qualifications to do so are.... All three of the following are true: You filed a Form I-130 petition for your relative, andthere is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, andall your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows one or more W-2 Forms that you receiveAll of the qualifying income DOES come from a salary...mine. The W-2's are through my company and come to me, but we file jointly. So my wife doesn't actually 'receive' the W-2s. But does the above allow us to use the I-864EZ or should we use the I-864? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. Marc
  17. Sorry to stick my nose in here but had a question about the I-864. They finally got around to changing the LND to GUZ for my wife's daughters paperwork. So we'll pay the $230. My question is do I need to send in the I-864 now, or will NVC tell us when to do this. You said something about the P3. If you could clarify that would be great. THANKS!!
  18. ...Or so we want to. I did all that they required to have the interview for my wife's daughter location changed from London to Guangzhou quite a while ago. Have sent emails and called more than a few times each method of communication. Calling does little good as thus far the people I've spoken with are very short and I had one answer my question and hang up! Is there anotherr level of communication or someone that can give a better answer to our question at NVC? Which is when are they going to let us know this has \been changed?? They said as soon as the information on the new location we are requesting is received, they'd update the file. We got an email that said it was received. Nothing so far. Also, can we pay the visa processing fee for her app when it still has the LND prefix or should we wait until it changes to GUZ? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated! Marc
  19. Got the I-130 approved by USCIS. In the process of filing for I-485 for the wife. Would it be appropriate to file the re-entry permit I-131 concurrently with I-485? The instructions was a little vague. Happy New Year!
  20. My IR1 visa status is in transit.Right now I am double checking the checklist and I have some questions. Please help! I sent all the original documents of police record and birth certificate to NVC.But the instruction says I will have to present the original copies at the interview. Will I get them back before the interview or do I have to get another one?( I chose the electronic process) I was living with my husband in Japan before I came back to China in the July of 2013. Since then I have been waiting for the immigrant visa in China. I have my police certificates from Japan.Do I need to get another one to cover the period of time from July 2013 till now? Approximately how long will it take before my interview is scheduled? My status just turned from "in NVC" to "in transit" yesterday.Happy new year to you all! Thanks! Wanbin
  21. Was wondering. If I go online and fill out the DS-261 to become the 'agent' for my wife's daughter, and I go through the entire process and "SIGN AND SUBMIT", will it be OK that I do this? Or will it show it was done on a computer here in America and her daughter is in China. It says on the instructions as I was filling out the 261..... By clicking “Sign and Submit Form” you are electronically signing the form. You are required to electronically sign your form yourself, unless otherwise exempt by regulation, even if the form has been prepared by someone other than yourself. Your electronic signature certifies that you have read and understood the questions on this form and that your answers are true and correct to the best of your knowledge and belief. The submission of a form containing any false or misleading statements may result in the permanent refusal of a visa or the denial of entry into the United States. All declarations made in this form are unsworn declarations made under penalty of perjury (28 U.S.C. 1746). Just want to make sure. We don't want 'premanent refusal of a visa'. Also, since the case is at NVC now, do we have to fill out the DS-260? Thanks!!
  22. Just wondering how long we have with all the new things we need to take care of for my wife's daughter coming to the US. We got the letter from NVC. Paid the $88 for the 261 (waiting for it to say "Paid" so we can see the next step. THANKS!!
  23. I've been living in China for the past 4 years, and finally moving back to the United States at the end of July. My Wife and I are at the stage where the case is at the NVS, and we've paid both the IV and Affidavit of Support fees, I also electronically returned the DS-230 to show my US address as the place that should be sent information in the future. Now I'm left with a few questions. 1. How long does it typically take from the time the fees are paid to the time when the P3 arrives? Both fees were paid by the middle of march, and I'm just trying to figure out time schedules. 2. Should I bring back the translated marriage certificate, police record, and birth certificate with me to the US, and have my wife fill out the other necessary forms and give them to me electronically? I'm thinking because they need to be sent to Vermont that it would be faster to send them from the US. 3. I've seen some varying times as to when the interview is scheduled from the time the P3 packet is received. Visa journey says it's an average of 85 days from when P3 is received, whereas this site seems to indicate 4-5 weeks. Is this time set from around the time the petitioner sends the package, or when the NVS enters the information into their system? Thanks for all the help and information! It's great to have a resource like this. EDIT: THIS IS FOR CR1
  24. In the interest of consolidation, I decided to start a new topic even though this has been covered in various places before. I was reading some of those other places and noticed a trend of new developments. What I'm wondering from those who have recently going through the EP process is: What has changed from the standard methods used before? Any new pitfalls to be aware of? We're in the early stages of getting our NVC paperwork together while we wait for our case number. Anything special for the paperwork we should be aware of?
  25. Now that I have my case number, I am starting this thread that will detail my EP experience with the NVC. I do so for the benefit of those who will follow me and would like to see a quick reference of what to do and what to expect. After I got my case number from the operator, I also asked for and received my IIN (invoice identification number). Once I had those two numbers, I confirmed with the operator that my AOS (Affidavit of Support) invoice would be emailed to me. I will send the actual OPTIN email to have the case converted from paper to electronic after I receive this invoice in my inbox. Now, you are able to send that OPTIN email once you have the GUZ case number, however, due to problems people have experienced sending in the OPTIN email prior to receiving the AOS invoice, I have made the decision to wait for the invoice in my inbox prior to sending the OPTIN email. Of note: When I was speaking with the operator in receiving my case number, the operator confirmed my email address and asked for my wife's email, I gave it to him; the only thing I would suggest is to tell your spouse that you will be telling the NVC their email address so they are not caught off guard when they start receiving emails from the NVC.In case you don't already know, you will be initially assigned a GUZ number followed by a set of number, when your case is converted from paper to electronic, the case number will change to GZO and have a new set of numbers.
