  1. Hello everyone! We are still waiting for approving our i-130 petition, but i am already planning my documents for the interview. And i was thinking about one thing - couple years ago i had my documents (birth certificate and so on) translated (into English) and notirised in Russia. Will it be enough for the Embassy or shall i make additional translation in China? Kind regards, Natalia
  2. I just filed the I-130 in Beijing this week. When I was submitting everything, I also submitted all the evidence of bonafide marriage: Affidavits From Family, Shared Financials Evidence, Translated Rental Contracts showing living together past few years, Photos of Us together and with family and Letter of Evolution Letter. My question is this: Since I have already submitted these things at the time of filing, do I need to bring another copy of these at the time of the interview? Thanks for your help! -Flash
  3. Hello, I need some advice on the fiance visa. I have been married twice. First time was back in 1980. The visa application asks for the final divorce papers from both of my marriages. I have my divorce papers from my last marriage but being I was divorced back in 1981 I do not have those divorce papers anymore. The lawyer that I used has long since passed so I can't get a copy from him. But even if I could get a copy they say I need to show the original copy later in the process. If I do not include that I was married back in 1980 will they find out I was in fact married and kick back my application? I thought that having my recent divorce papers would be enough because I couldn't get married again without proof of my first divorce. But on the application it asks for both papers. I can not believe I am the first person to have this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If I were to go to China to get married and bring her here on the spousal visa could I get around this problem or would there be a similar issue? Thanks to all in advance.
  4. Hello! My wife is applying for a CR-1 visa. We are preparing to schedule my wife's interview and wanted to hear your thoughts about the documents she needs to bring to the interview. Marriage Certificate - The Immigrant Visa Instructions say that she needs to bring a notarized copy of our marriage certificate. However, when I went to the consulate in Guangzhou to submit the original I-130 application, the officer collected the notarized copy of our marriage certificate and said that he needed to keep it. Does this mean that we need to get our marriage certificate notarized a second time? - Do we need ti notarize both marriage certificates or just one? Birth Certificates - The instructions also saw that her notarized birth certificate "must state the date, place of birth, and names of both parents," but the notarized copy we got (got it done before seeing these instructions) doesn't include the date and place of birth of her parents. It just includes their names and Chinese ID numbers. Do we need to get another notarized birth certificate with the exact information or will the one we already have be fine? - Does she need to bring my US birth certificate? I am her husband and petitioner, a U.S. citizen. Police Certificates - We are a little confused where to go to get this and what it is called in Chinese. If someone could provide the Chinese for where we need to go and what to tell them we need, that would be great! vs ֤ vs ֤ We are in Hangzhou if that matters. - I assume we need to get this notarized as well? Medical Examination - My wife will likely need to get all of the vaccines required, since she has no records of previous vaccinations. Is it possible to get all of them done at once or does she need to wait a day between getting vaccinations? - We will be in Beijing for around 4 days, will that be enough time to get the medical examination done and receive the sealed medical report? Evidence of Support - I am filling out the I-864. Part Two (Information on the Principal Immigrant) requires us to fill in a mailing address, but it does not allow us to put in a Chinese address (for example the zip code box is limited to 5 numbers but the zip codes in China are 6 numbers). Am I supposed to fill out my address in the US for this? - The form asks for her A-Number, but I do not think she has an A-Number. Are we supposed to have one by this point? - The instructions say that she should bring my most recent Federal income tax return, but I see here that people suggest bringing the returns for the past 3 years. Does it make a difference? Also, would it help if she brought my employment contract for a new job I will be starting in August in the US? Thank you so much for the help, we really appreciate it!
  5. My wife and I used digital photos which were printed on to paper for the i-130 petition. I've heard a million times to bring original copies of everything for the interview, but I'm wondering if I need to print out all of the photos we used again. I also (stupidly, I know) wrote on the back of each page the approximate month and location each photo was taken without making copies of the backside where I wrote that info. Anyway, just wondering what advice anyone may have. Separate question from the photos... should I basically re-create the entire i-130 package to bring along to the interview? Like absolutely everything- table of contents, affidavits, forms, etc... Thanks
  6. I have not started the K1 process. My fiancee is in her hometown now so we wanted to know what documents she needs to gather while she is there. I know the birth certificate is on the list. Anything else? Brad
  7. I applied immigration visa for my parents, now the case is at NVC. I have submitted civil documents to NVC electronically. Now just found out my parents’ original birth notarial certificate and marriage notarial certificate were lost. They are over 70 and do not have birth certificate. Probably they can get another, but the new one will not match the copies at NVC , each notarial has unique number on it. Now I feel hopeless and do not know what to do. If anyone could provide any kind help or experience, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you advance!
  8. Hello Everyone, My wife's interview is coming up in two days and although I am pretty confident about the completeness of the required documents, I just want to double check. Again, this is an awesome forum and you guys have been so helpful. Thanks again. Just a little background info: -Been working in China since 2008. -Got married (registered in China) in 2010. -Brought my wife back to the U.S. with me for our wedding. -Started the DCF process in Oct. 2012 -Scheduled her Immigration IR1 visa interview for Jan. 22nd And here's my checklist: 1. Appointment Letter 2. Beneficiary passport bio page 3. U.S. Visa Photos x6 4. Nortarized birth certificate 5. Nortarized marriage certificate 6. Nortarized police records 7. Evidence of financial Support (I-864 form) I-864 from me A letter explaining why I did not file for tax return 8. I-864 from my dad (joint sponsor) I-864A from my mom Tax returns from my parents (W2 and 1080) Proof of employment from employer Mom and dad's passport bio-page 9. Proof of domcile U.S. Credit card statements U.S. driver's license Student loan statement U.S. Bank statements (with both my name and my wife's name) 10. 50 photos of us, with family and friends (from 2008 - 2012) 11. Our plane tickets for the U.S. trip in 2012 12. Medical exmination packet (sealed envelope) and x-ray film THAT"S IT! Questions: 1. I read somewhere that at the document intake, you'll have to bring the ORIGINAL DS-230 and sign it there? Well the thing is, we sent in the original DS-230 (without the signature) as instructed (Packet 3). So I'm a bit confused about this. 2. So during document intake, they take what they need and tell you if you are missing anything. And then the next day, you come in and wait for your interview. BEFORE your interview, they give you BACK your documents? How will you 'hand over' what the VO asks for during the interview. (Sorry if this is a stupid question). 3. Document intake is shceduled at 12:30, would it be okay to arrive 2-3 hrs before? 4. I don't see a time for her interview with the VO; should she arrive really early just so she can get in front of the line? (I'll have to catch a flight in the late afternoon). I'm sorry for all these questions, I just want to know what the proecedures are so I don't freak out if she's late or something. I'll be in GZ with her the whole time. The next two days are gonna be the longest days of my life! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
