  1. I've been keeping a low profile lately but have good news, my wife got her visa (IR-1) this week. She is planning to join me here in Ohio w/in a month. Thanks all for the words of encouragement, thanks to cfl for all the invaluable info provided. Its been a long hard road. The long and winding road can lead to great things. Thomas & Lan
  2. Jany, I'm glad to see your still posting and I hope your choice to stay in America turns out to be a good one. You should not blame yourself for what your x-husband did, he lied to you and completely deceived you. That’s his fault and not yours. You should not feel guilty at all, he is to blame for the trouble, not you. I really hope someday you meet a nice guy and have the life you hope for. Good luck and God bless. Thomas
  3. I am leaving for China in the am (planned trip), and finally have good news to bring. Let the pre-interview party begin Thanks all for the good wishes......good tidings to all!!! :candle: eeyore
  4. From what I understand the friend is correct, you need proof of employment letter w/income verification on business letterhead. eeyore
  5. luvmyli, I can relate, I am still waiting for my lao po security clearance to finish. I agree it is totally frustrating. Even after calling dos repeatedly, visiting w/my congressman, and writing my senators we are still waiting. I talked to dos today and they said is should be done real soon. As of late the only confirmation of forward progress is dos told me today the 1st security clearance is done. I'm assuming by looking at your timeline and mine guz requested additional screening for both our cases. Hopefully we will both hear some good news soon. eeyore
  6. I suppose fog could be considered transparent too
  7. I just got off the phone with a DOS rep and she said she would make an inquiry concerning the cr-1 security clearance. Finally after writing Mary Harty's office, having my congressman make an inquiry and writing the state senate someone at DOS is looking into the case. I really hope that means the security clearance will be done soon. T
  8. Ya she is a real trooper, she does not deserve this insanity, delay w/no reason or at least no reason given (of course there is no reason, no real reason anyway).
  9. Just got off the phone w/my congressman's liaison he said it should take w/in 3 months to complete. He said I can call again in several months and they will make another inquiry. Every 3 months I'm telling myself only 3 months more. He did say that he has only one case that he worked on that did not get passed the process, he said an 80+ year old married a girl in her very early 20's.
  10. Just got off the phone w/dos and my wife's security clearance is still pending, its just unbelievable, called my congressman's office, who are in the process of inquiry, and still no word as to why such an unnecessary delay. Words can not describe my aggravation and frustration. I'm beginning to doubt if my wife and I can have a future here in the states. If she is being treated this poorly now, how badly can we expect to be discriminated against once she is here. At this point I am giving serious thought to leaving the country, if I do I will not look back for sure. If my congressman can not do anything for me w/in the next 30 days or so the decision will be made.
  11. I can't beleive that my case was filed 7 months prior to yours and I still do not have an interview date, thats messed up. But congratulations, its nice to see cr-1 completed, hopefully your so will pass the interview w/no problem. T
  12. This site will help you find your congressman and like other said go to their office and talk to them in person. Call them first and ask them for what info is needed and the office location. www.congressmerge.com
  13. I can empathize but in all fairness check out my time line. We've been waiting for the p4 for over a year with no end in sight.
  14. Its a long tough process, I can relate to the comments about depression, staying up has been a real challenge esp since we are in clearance delay. I live alone and have no family near either and that makes it tough, but the hardest part is there seems to be now way out, at least to say if my wife wants a US visa. I can't temporally move to China, or other country, I loose my income and would not be able to sponsor her. I just hope she will get the p-4 soon. I do not post a lot on cfl but reading almost daily has helped a lot.
  15. I was in Shanghai last year for the new year. I recommend going to the 'old town' area. It should be decorated for the new year. Be prepared for fireworks everywhere, people will be lighting them off all over the city, its a lot of fun.
  16. Actually its our cr-1 case that the security clearance was completed. CR-1 is being handled through DOS and GUZ, GUZ requested the clearance since the cr-1 was transferred to GUZ in July. No word on the k-3 (handled through NVC). The k-3 was a complete waste of money and time, not to mention the frustration. looks like I can see light at the end of the tunnel, lets hope its not a on coming train. Thanks all for the good wishes!!!!
  17. I called DOS this week and was told that the 1st clearence is complete. Does any have an idea of how long the 2nd clearence will take? Thanks, T.
  18. My wife and I have come to an understanding. If I send her money on a monthly basis I would not be able to fly to China every 3 months or so. If the cost of travel was not so high, approx $1000.00 or more per trip (I live in the mid-west and the costs a lot to fly to China from here) I could send her money. I own a house too and that makes it hard to have lots extra money. I'm glad my wife is not so selfish to ask for money every month knowing we could not see each other for long periods of time if I gave it to her. I would like her to be able to quit her job soon though, maybe once the security clearance is done I could support her for a while. I was considering earlier this year selling my house allowing me living less expensively therefore being able send money monthly to my wife; However, I think my lao po will be happy that I did not when she sees our house and the area its in. I may not be able to send money now but I am working toward making her future life here a good one.
  19. It can take a while, my k-3 (nvc) name check started 2/05 and my cr-1 (dos) started 7/5 both are still pending with no end it sight. If I hazard a guess I would say the average is about 6 to 8 months but a year or longer is not beyond the realm of possibility.
  20. I'm still waiting too and have not been able to get much help from NVC and DOS, check my time line. B)
