Mengxin replied to obxtrainman's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
www.onesuite.com 2.5 cents per minute 24x7, no connection fee. Rapid dial too. When I call Lao Po from my cell I dail 2 #'s to get the local access #, then another 2 + # to contact her phone. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons6/13.gif -
If your Lao Po was moving, GZ would tell your wife to send them a fax with the new address written in english and chinese.

Clearance delay on NVC to GUZ
Mengxin replied to ed and ying's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
You think they would hold the paperwork up with DHL, so when the backlog elimination report comes out they can write that there cycle times are improving? They can write us emails that say your wait will be 60 to 120 days between the time that NVC sends the apps till the time that GZ recieves them. It wouldn't be lieing, it just wouldn't be the whole truth. It's not really a backlog reduction as much as it is a backlog shift. oh, shifty backlogs... ewey. for almost 2 months GZ kept telling me "we have no record of your petition." Called NVC today and they told me that GZ requested 2nd name check last Friday. What kind of B-ola is that? -

Clearance delay on NVC to GUZ
Mengxin replied to ed and ying's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
There is no doubt there is discrimination. now that russia isn't the big threat like before, who's the #2 world power now? Canada? There were 5 packages shipped from NVC on 4-12-05 and arrived the middle of May. As of last Friday 6-3-05, GZ says they still don't have our application. It looks like (from DHL tracking of apps from NVC NH) applications are recieved in small groups. Here's the reply I got last Friday from GZ. After readin below I wonder where are the other 1000 to 2500 petitions coming from? and are all of those 1st priority, like mine? (correction, 2nd priority behind unmarried children of US Citizens.) Dear Doug, After NVC notifies an applicant that they have shipped the petition to the Consulate, typically it takes 60 to 120 days for file/petition to be received and processed by post. This time period includes the time required to clear China's customs, security screening of the boxes when they are received by post, and then sorting and processing time for the Immigrant Visa Unit. WE have not received this petition. Please understand that an average shipment of petitions from NVC contains approximately 1,100 to 2,500 petitions per shipment. We appreciate your patience and assure you that we will do everything possible to expeditiously process your case. To respond to this email, use only the web form at www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzhou/iv/email.html. E-mails sent via "reply" will not be received. You can access limited case specific information - confirm Visa Petition arrival at post and verify interview date - at the National Visa Information Call center (a for fee service). See www.usavisainformation.com.cn/eng/index.aspx. Call Center # (China) 400-872-333 (International) 8621-3881-4611 Sincerely, Immigrant Visa Unit US Consulate General Guangzhou on another note: Does the article below explain why DCF is faster? SUBJECT: SUMMARY OF SPECIAL PROCESSING REQUIREMENTS Once a Donkey or Bear cable is sent the post must suspend all action on the case until a reply is received. d) For most issued Chinese, Cuban, Russian and Vietnamese applicants posts also must mail in a copy of the visa application, in addition to any telegraphic clearances. Visas Eagle telegrams must be submitted for the following persons: (1) K nonimmigrant visa applicants; (2) immigrant visa applicants; and These cases may be brought to conclusion 10 working days after submission of the Visas Eagle telegram unless otherwise advised by the Department. Visas Eagle Mantis (applies to posts in China only) A Visas Eagle Mantis telegram must be submitted on Chinese applicants (only when applying at a China post) who are coming to study (other than undergraduate students under 30 years of age), teach, conduct research, engage in commercial activity, participate in an exchange program, attend meetings or conferences, or be temporarily employed or trained in a scientific or technical field on the Technology Alert List. Visas Donkey Mantis (applies to all other posts) A Visas Donkey Mantis telegram must be submitted on Chinese applicants (when applying outside of China) who are coming to study (other than undergraduate students under 30 years of age), teach, conduct research, engage in commercial activity, participate in an exchange program, attend meetings or conferences, or be temporarily employed or trained in a scientific or technical field on the Technology Alert List. The Department's response is required prior to issuance. -
How can anyone be held accountable if you don't know their name? Naaaw, that couldn't be the reason... The infamous "black pearl" is about as close to a name as I've heard of.

We all hate when this happens to one of our own but I think in many cases the answer of why they give out denials is too simple. They have to. I am also a gummint worker and a great deal of my time is spent on quality control for my lab results. You are expected to have about 10% errors. If I never had any errors my lab auditor would be down here asking me when I became perfect. I am sure that VOs are in the same boat. If they would never give out any denials they would be in trouble... I jokingly referred to this once as the VO's "other quota".. So I agree with it.. They probably publish how many denials they hand out.. but also probably don't state how many of them are overcome with evidence... They probably have a quota to meet to justify empleyment.

From Guangzhou's Frequently Asked Questions http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzho.../iv/gzfaqs.html I have returned forms DS-230 part one and OF-169 and I-864 to NVC, when will you receive my file? It's impossible to predict when NVC will forward your file to this office. funny that I have a peice of paper with an actual date on it from NVC stamped 4/12/05, but not even acknowlegement of reciept from GZ after 1.5 months. So like the question said the 1st time, when will you receive my file? The answer should read... It's impossible to predict anything really. Like when will we run out of dougnuts or who was the guy that took the last cup of coffee and didn't fill the pot. Only after these simple questions are answered, can we truely estimate when NVC will forward your file to this office. it's not our fault, they did it. OK then, how about a date .... for a date???

You know the frauds will make themselves appear to be more legit than the honest people. That's how frauds make their $$$. Did they even think about that? When the frauds do get through, what are the consequences and damages vs. frauds from other countries that are "Real" threats to our safety and society? Let's see here... Mexico and ALL Middle Eastern countries. If they make it past the border or "fraud" their way past customs, they are rewarded with drivers and pilots licenses??? Be real. ...or take a look at the consequences of missing a fraud from China vs. missing a fraud from an Arab nation??? Time to shift focus maybe? How about even taking a closer look in our own back yard with the street gangs, internet hackers, ID thieves? "They are already here, not our problem, we don't care???" Is the safety and security we gain by making American and Chinese families wait for over 1 year for there visa, out weight the more imminent real life threat. Maybe it's too easy to pick on the Chinese. After all, look at how huge the mail order bride business has become? If they don't do something to stop these Chinese women from coming to America in droves like they have been for years, who knows where our country could end up? That's great logic fellas... thanks a lot, I feel safer after that reminder. Even on the website for VO applicants they mention something about the failure rate of applicants to make it past the drug screening. Can we piss test our VO's before we allow them to interview our wives? I'm getting silly now, but I'm mad. Grrrr.... Peace and love. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons6/67.gif

I shared this poem with my wife tonight. She sometimes worrys about how her life will be after she arrives. Will she be a succuss, will she fit in or what will happen if things don't go according to plan. I just reassure her that i will do whatever I can to help. We're a team, she has my complete support. Just some things to think about. CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE By Dorothy Law Nolte If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn. If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight. If a child lives with fear, he learns to be apprehensive. If a child lives with pity, he learns to feel sorry for himself. If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy. If a child lives with jealousy, he learns what envy is. If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with encouragement, he learns to be confident. If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. If a child lives with praise, he learns to be appreciative. If a child lives with acceptance, he learns to love. If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself. If a child lives with recognition, he learns that it is good to have a goal. If a child lives with sharing, he learns about generosity. If a child lives with honesty and fairness, he learns what truth and justice are. If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith in himself and in those about him. If a child lives with friendliness, he learns that the world is a nice place in which to live. If you live with serenity, your child will live with peace of mind. With what is your child living?

Yes you may be able to sit on the beach but don't go near the water because it's too cold...I was fortunate enough to escape the Golden state in 1972 when it had half the population it has now. Having just sampled your CA life again let me just say that everything on the left coast is just too durned FAST. Give me the midwest for a calm, friendly, laid back place where you can actually afford a decent home... I will take the Mid-west in September any time of the year, I will even take it in the winter. Nothing like waking up after a nice snow fall, walking outside and smelling the clean air, so fresh. And people being so laid back, not always in a hurry, and very friendly, plus lets not forget the driving. As far as affording a nice home, yes, depending on what you are looking for. Here on the lake, prices start from $40k up to about $2mil, just depending on how big and how closeo the lake that you want, and this is for a small lake, not lake erie Squeak, IA is Iowa, CA is California. ...and not all californians drink with umbrellas in our glasses, we use celery sticks too. Now where did I ever say IA, go back to sleep and get over jet lag You were wishing you made it to CA, but only got as far as IA. Don't forget your anniversary's this week. Lings gonna love her new car.

Dude, Look at the lower right corner of your form. It looks like it says, 11/05/01. oh, This one does too. http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/f...files/I-864.pdf I don't see any expiration date on the form. I see the same script object box in the upper right hand corner of the same page on the website. If you need your partents to help you meet the minimum requirement, then you need to file the I-864A part also. They will need to also sign infront of a public notary. Don't forget to put the GUZ# or WAC in the upper right hand corner of all pages.
