  6. I am embarrassed and curious. I was wondering - I was told "Chinese women all have birth control." I know it has to do with the "one child policy" and that it is a cervical ring. Can anyone tell me if it is effective, is there a better method available her in the US, etc etc - my curious mind wants to know! Maybe some of the women can enlighten me and help my American understanding and experience. THANKS!!
  7. Darrell I just called the DoS at about 8.35 am (EST) a 2-3 minutes wait. They said our P3 is getting processed and that another document was added on Monday. Since it seems that your paper is slightly ahead of mine, I wonder if this added paper is a security report or ?? Does anyone have any idea of documents sent to/filed/keyed in by our friends at GZ? ANyways - thanks all!
  8. Be sure you get a lot of sleep on the way from SFO to Tokyo and then on to HK. You'll need it. Eat well and drink enough water. YOU GO CARL! SAFE TRIP AND PROFITABLE JOURNEY! GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU! Jeff
  9. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREATTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I use the Ectaco software with my Palm m515. My fiancee's translator is better, as it is not in formal Beijing Mandarin - slightly less formal and more understandable. I know the translators are available in China and they cost about the same as we pay here in the US. They sell them on the auctions - Yahoo and eBay. I found several Chinese brands that Chinese-Americans import here. Ectaco sells translators on their website and if you keep asking for a quote (maybe 3-4 times) you can get a good price.
  11. Hang in there - be patient! Which Service Center did you file your paperwork with?
  12. I downloaded some copies of the forms in the P4 packet. I figured it would be easier for Sarah. I did the same with the P3 forms and it proved to be a good choice. QUESTION On the forms, it asks for "Alien (Case) Number". Should the GUZ# be inserted there? Thanks!
  13. As I have been told, there is the possibility of her being released from the school, and the possibility of her having to repay the cost of her education. Her uncle will know that and probably know the possibility/risk of her marrying while still enrolled. Start the paperwork, take your time, and ask questions here if you need help/questions arise. Best wishes and God bless the both of you. Jeff
  14. I just got off the phone with Sarah. She picked up her notarized Police Cert. and the translation (2 of them - one for her and one for her son). In the city of Nanjing, it was about $200 total. I said WOW! It was a rush job, so there might have been an additional charge. WOW! But, at least the paperwork is moving
  15. There is a good chance her degree will not transfer - the main issue that she will have to obtain a teaching certificate in your state. You can contact the State Board of Education or someone in the licensing office at the local school board. You can probably transfer her degree to some college near you and they will tell you what to do to turn her degree into a US degree. ALso, her level of English will make a difference. This procedure also applies when you move your teaching certificate from one state to another. Some atates are easier than others. Please contact me and I can probably get you some addresses to contact to see how your particular situation can/will play out. I would be happy to help you get an answer. WHere do/will you live? Hope this helps. Jeff
