Just a suggestion: Download and install Yahoo and AOL instant messengers. They are both free. Yahoo seems to have far less disconnect problems than the others. ICQ has to be the worst. With Yahoo, you can also chat by voice and video at the click of a mouse (if you have web cam). If you install all 4 Instant Messenger programs, chances are that you will be able to maintain connection with at least one of them.

That is also an old form letter. Maybe she ran out of cut and paste and is starting over again. I am editing a letter right now that I will send to Ms. Harty's office. I will post it here tomorrow if any of you want to copy and paste parts of it. I think it doesn't matter whom in Harty's office you send to (Piascik, Cabral, or Harty herself).

I think the worst part is that now it seems we can't even believe what little information the personnel gives us. We have heard of many instances that info from DOS info line was contradictory. Now the same is happening with Consular Affairs - when you can even get them to speak to you. First I was given vague form letters. After a while, those were replaced with the, "We are working on the problem and EMS notices will be issued soon." That was soon replaced with, "give us a couple weeks." Now that has been followed by you should hear from GZ in, "a few days," or, "in 2 or 3 days." It has now become a game of I WONDER WHAT WILL BE THEIR NEXT PREVARICATION? I am fed up. Hopefully the few of us from the Black Hole who are still waiting will join me in barraging our officials with letters demanding real answers and action.

Congrats Calvin! DOS called me back a week ago with the same info and told me that I should hear from GZ in a few days. Still nothing from GZ after a week though. I also was told, sent to GZ; your fiancee should hear from GZ "in 2 or 3 days", from CA a month ago. So be happy with cautious optimism, but go ahead and eat.

Yes, I left message and asked for him. Another time, I left message with person who finally answered phone and was told he would call. I'm trying again on Monday.

Thinking back, I certainly can vouch for that... Those past 2 days alone since Yuhui arrived just completely erased 7 months of bad memories, started 8/1/02 ... B) Ouch! Our 7-month interview anniversary is today . I still remember how excited I was knowing that she was at the consulate and thinking she would be walking out with a visa in hand. B)

SBS, You are the same as all of us who still wait. All of us are couples in love. It is pain for all of us who wait. This may not help to know, but we all feel the same. . . how can we wait another day. The wait is hard, but the joy after the wait is over is something to think about while you are waiting. Those thoughts and the belief in love have helped me through this. I never thought I could wait this long, but I love her enough to wait as long as it takes. Try to think about the happy times when you were together and dream of the happy times when you will be reunited. Hopefully you will get your visa sooner. You cannot believe everything DOS people tell you. Don't give up. Keep contacting your officials. You are not sure that the hold will be 6 more months. Try not to worry about something that has not happened yet. Do you and your husband have the CONTACT LIST ?

I have been apart from my fiancée physically for over a year. . . planning to visit again in couple months if still no visa. It has been hard, yes, but our love has survived our government's heartless test. If love prevails, you will conquer. Just keep in mind the lifetime of joy you can have together after this wait is finally over. Is your love not worth whatever wait you must endure? I know it is hard to be apart, but keep in contact with her by all means at your disposal. . . email, chat, install a web cam, plug a headset (less than $20) into your pc so you can talk to her. Install free Yahoo IM and you can see and hear each other at the click of a mouse. Of course, if your finances permit, you can phone her daily. I guess you could always take non-perishable food with you to China and drink bottled water. Or are the infections due to the airborne bacteria and viruses? It might be better to make 3 trips with 2-week stays, than one trip with a 2-month stay.

Tell your fiancee that you are not alone. We also are still waiting. The good news is that most of the recently-received visas and EMS seem to be from the "Black Hole" group. This implies that GZ must be working this group as a priority. Therefore GZ eventually has to get to our cases. They just have to clear a few more off the top of ours. Congratulations on getting A.S. to talk to you. I have two outstanding messages to him now (within the last week), one via secretary and one via voice mail. But I can't get him to call me back since 3 weeks ago when he said my fiancee should hear from GZ in 2 or 3 days.
