  1. Come on home and enjoy your new life together. Congrats.
  2. The civil surgeon should have the vaccination supplement, but you can also take a look at http://uscis.gov/graphics/generalvac.pdf to get some additional information. I don't recall specifically what we put for Jingwen's current and entry status, but I'm going to guess I put K-1 for both since that was the status listed on the I-94
  3. Soon, the whole ordeal will be just a hazy memory. Have a wonderful life together.
  4. Do we really need the 2nd notice later? When? My SO will need it for her interview? It just seems that it would be evidient that we got it if we get to Guz.... just curious It's not needed for the interview, but you will need it when you file for adjustment of status after your SO arrives in the US and you guys get married. Guard the I-797 Notice of Approval with your life. It's a real pain in the butt to try to replace if it's lost.
  5. Two ways. Send it to me. Go beer drinking with me.
  6. "Resident alien" is more broadly defined for tax purposes than for immigrations purposes. In addition to including an LPR, it also includes someone who's been in the US for a certain length of time. If memory serves, you count the number of days in the US in the current year (2004, I presume), 1/3 of the number of days in the US for the previous year (2003), and 1/6 the number of days in the US for the next previous year (2002). If the total is at least 183, then I think the individual would meet the definition of a "resident alien". In your case, it sounds like Wang Fang might meet this test even though she doesn't have a green card yet. Hopefully, an expert in this area can confirm this for you.
  7. Having had the pleasure of both chef's meals, I have to say that Jingwen's cooking prowess has now exceeded her mom's.
  8. Welcome to the world of bureauracracy where, when you are told how long something will take, just double it Take a look at http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-I129f.html which gives you a pretty good idea of what you'll need to do. You can also check out some of the later posts at http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....dc2e022dad4722c. In answer to your specific questions, everything you mentioned (and then some) should go with the I-129F at the same time. You can also do a search on this forum for answers to a lot of questions. Sounds like you're just starting out. Looks like you'll be here for a year or so. Good luck.
  9. We explored the licensing for KK, my step daughter, who has some sort of Chinese manicure certification - don't know exactly what kind. Licensing will vary from state to state. Most require a high school education and a written/practical test. Some states allow an apprenticeship. Georgia, like some states, will not recognize KK's certification and will require her to go through the whole battery of tests, etc. in Georgia.
  10. The visa usually has three numbers on it: 1. The "A" number. This is usually hand written alien registration number starting with the letter A# then a 9. It is NOT the visa number. 2. The Control Number. This number in black looks like a date sequence, e.g., 2005034.....It is usually found in the upper right of the visa. This in the control number. It is NOT the visa number. 3. The red number in the lower right of the visa. This IS the visa number.
  11. Wouldn't she then be considered a USC but just out of the country? Full linkage She would be considered married to a USC but not a USC herself. Marriage does not confer citizenship.
  12. My gut's telling me that they're going to let the I-601 run its course. Good luck.
  13. I doubt if it's required, but I don't really see anything wrong with letting the VO know that you are involved even if you can't be there. If I were writing a letter, it would be short and along the lines that something or other prevents you from being with you wife, that you are aware of the importance of the interview, that your wife may be nervous (maybe add something about how you communicate), and maybe also add something unique about her that only her husband would know about. Just some random thoughts.
  14. You've got my vote should you ever want to replace Da Shan.
  15. That's my problem too. While Jingwen and I can converse in my version of putonghua, if I try it at a restaurant, I'm liable to be sitting there with a dumb expression on my face when the waiter or owner starts speaking. I was always told that it was better to speak the language fast than to speak it correctly. That way, if someone doesn't understand you, you can chalk it up to differing dialects...like "lao gong hua".
  16. The lunar issue came up with Jingwen's parents' birthdays to show on the various forms only because she asked which dates to use. To be honest, I really don't know which one she has in her passport, but it's the one we use. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  17. Close the book. Time to start a whole new adventure. Best of luck.
  18. You're getting close. Hope things continue to go smoothly from here on out. Your deserve a smooth ride after all the hurdles that you had to jump. Good luck.
  19. Good to hear that you got the P3. While Jingwen and I and prepared our own P3 documents in advance, when the actual forms arrived, we used them rather than our copies. She did enter the requested telegraphic code that I had previously given to her.
  20. Nicely done. Congratulations. One last little step to go - getting the actual visa and getting the hell outta Dodge.
  21. I'm glad to hear the news. It's nice to know that good things do (eventually) happen.
  22. My LP got a full page sticker with her pic for her visa. Mine got the the same. Jingwen got a full page sticker with picture, but this was over a year ago.
  23. Since one of the main reasons for the interview is to substantiate a bona fide marriage, I'm going to guess that the non petitioning spouse's presence is for much more than support. Other who have been through the interview can better answer this question.
  24. Thanks for the insight. Sometimes, the jaws of the tiger look pretty dangerous. Sounds like Kishi handled it well. Wish we could say the same of the VO.
