  1. Quick question. I have everything all scanned and ready for sending via email to NVC for the supporting docs for the DS-260. Can I send multiple emails or does it have to be one email? I have several larger PDF files to send (photos, insurance papers, etc.). I know if I try to attach all of them and send them in one it probably won't send. Thoughts? Experience? THANKS!
  2. It's unclear what you mean here - birth certificates ARE issued by the "present government" from records which may pre-date the Communist take-over in 1949. In any event, the Gong Zheng Chu will know the correct format to use, and the Consulate will recognize it as an official document. Any previously-issued, or "original" birth certificate is unlikely to be in the correct format for use abroad. We went to the local government yesterday. The official there told us that if you try to submit a birth certificate that was issued prior to when the new government changed the form, it won't be allowed and a new one would be required. Which of course would be a delay. So if people have an 'old' birth certificate that they used in a prior process, that was used prior to when the new government went into power, it would not be the proper form. Just a heads up and a suggestion to go get a new copy instead of sending an old one that the government says would not be allowed. Just relaying on what we were told.
  3. Sent in the DS-260. Electronic is the way to go if you can. Question though (as always but maybe it will help others when they get to this point). The info we are required to send in electronically for Supporting Evidence. We are sending the below: Birth Certificate (as a note, the new/current Chinese government is requiring new copies of the birth certificate and can not be generated while the past government was in power. So from what we could learn, the new government changed the form and only this form will be accepted) Police records Copy of passport 2 Photos Now the question....I see where CGI Stanley is overseeing the visa applications for the GUZ consulate. They are saying: EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP:The visa applicant is required to provide evidence of his/her relationship with the petitioner. Evidence of a relationship typically includes, but is not limited to, photographs taken with the petitioner, phone records, letters, money transmittal records, household registration, and school records. Do these need to be sent electronically also? Or just taken to the interview. Just worried about the size of the files needed to send photos, etc. THANKS!
  4. Thanks Dan! Do you think it would be a negative on the DS-260 to have it listed as a visa she had received but you don't list the number on the 260 where it asks for it? We'll have the passport in a few weeks but don't want to wait to submit the 260 online. As it is now, I just said 'Unknown'. Also, it seems like when she has her interview, they're going to ask why she's going this route and didn't go through with the K2/green card when she had it back in 2010. She can explain, or would it help to have her mother/I write a letter explaining it exactly? She could take this to the interview. Or we could send it with the supporting documents (Birth Certificate, etc.) that we have to send.
  5. I didn't have to fill out anything concerning occupation as she never has been, so can't speak specifically to that issue. Just know that each time I had to enter info (as an example where she's lived if anywhere before her present address) I'd hit '+add additional' and it would add more fields and then asked for chronological order of this information. Would think it would be the same for occupation. Look under present occupation, if it has the + add, hit it and see what happens. You can always just go back. I've gone back and forth and back and forth a lot!
  6. Anyplace we can call or find an old visa number other than the passport? THANKS!
  7. At the bottom under where you entered the present information it should have a tab that says something like "+add another". Hit that and another set of fields come up allowing you to enter more information.
  8. Found it! It was in an email, I just missed it. But it is a separate number. Not the GZO # minus the GZO.
  9. Thanks Randy! This is what it says on the NVC site...... The DS-260 must be completed and submitted online through the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC). To log-in to CEAC, you will need the following numbers: Your NVC case numberYour NVC invoice ID numberYour Beneficiary ID numberThese numbers are noted on the letter or e-mail you received from the NVC. Looked at all letters and emails and nothing that states it's a Beneficary ID #. So if it's the A# for sure we don't have that yet.
  10. In Chengdu now! Good food and great people. Filling out the DS-260 and it's asking for the Beneficiary ID #. Where will I find this. All fees have been paid. Processing electronically. Have GZO #. Also, the 260 says that you can only send a copy of the long form birth certificate. A short form will not be accepted. We have the official copy of her daughters birth certificate that shows where she was born and the names of both parents. This is one of the things they say a long for has. SO I assume we have the long form? Short form says just the child's name is listed. Just want to make sure. Thanks! Rosie and Marc
  11. Thanks Randy! Makes sense. Just one more thing. Line 13 talks about her filing Federal tax returns. Then in 13a, b and c they want you to list what years and income. Enter nothing or list our 2013, 2012 and 2011 returns?
  12. Also, you will not be filling out an I-864A, since you are the intending immigrant. The intending immigrant's income can be included without filing out an I-864A. I'm not the intending immigrant. Her daughter is. According to the I-864 instructions, if she did not file taxes for any of those years because she was not required to (because her income was too low) she needs to attach a statement saying so. But we filed jointly. She was listed on these returns as not having any income. Just I had income. But she would not file a return seperately, so she has none except for the ones we have from filing jointly.
  13. On the 864 my wife is filling out it says: Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment My total income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent 3 years was: Since she is unemployed I'm assuming I would leave these blank since I'm filling out the 864A. Thanks!
  14. I saw where the I-864EZ is for someone with no joint sponsor. Technically, the money I make is hers too, but the W-2's are from the company I work for and have my name on them, so we'll just go with the 864 and 864A. Thanks Randy!
  15. I know it may seem like I ask a lot of questions about everything, but I just want to make sure I get this all right. Would my wife need to fill out the I-864EZ? The qualifications to do so are.... All three of the following are true: You filed a Form I-130 petition for your relative, andthere is only one applicant on the Form I-130 petition, andall your qualifying income comes from a salary or pension and shows one or more W-2 Forms that you receiveAll of the qualifying income DOES come from a salary...mine. The W-2's are through my company and come to me, but we file jointly. So my wife doesn't actually 'receive' the W-2s. But does the above allow us to use the I-864EZ or should we use the I-864? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. Marc
  16. Thanks Dan! Of course though...question. Do we have to send the AOS's (I-864 for my wife and the I-864A for me since my wife is unemployed but is the sponsor...it will be my salary it will be based on) first? Or can we make the payment and then send the 864's?
  17. Yep already did the DS-261 and paid the $88 AOS fee. Now I'm assuming we need to pay the $230 processing fee for the visa and then NVC will send the request for the 864? Thanks!
  18. Sorry to stick my nose in here but had a question about the I-864. They finally got around to changing the LND to GUZ for my wife's daughters paperwork. So we'll pay the $230. My question is do I need to send in the I-864 now, or will NVC tell us when to do this. You said something about the P3. If you could clarify that would be great. THANKS!!
  19. ...Or so we want to. I did all that they required to have the interview for my wife's daughter location changed from London to Guangzhou quite a while ago. Have sent emails and called more than a few times each method of communication. Calling does little good as thus far the people I've spoken with are very short and I had one answer my question and hang up! Is there anotherr level of communication or someone that can give a better answer to our question at NVC? Which is when are they going to let us know this has \been changed?? They said as soon as the information on the new location we are requesting is received, they'd update the file. We got an email that said it was received. Nothing so far. Also, can we pay the visa processing fee for her app when it still has the LND prefix or should we wait until it changes to GUZ? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated! Marc
  20. Only YOU can answer that question - what do you KNOW ??!? (or even THINK you know for that matter). For example, China consulate USA if you can't get any more specific Sounds sort of like a cut down to me?? I would think that for someone in your 'position' on this site that you'd be a little more careful in how you word your responses. All I did was ask a question. I thought that was what this site was all about. Help. But thanks Dan for your help.
  21. Whoops...sorry again...it's asking "Have you ever been granted a Chinese visa? If applicable, please specify the date and place of the last time you were granted the visa." I have the date...but the place?
  22. Sorry...stupid question but on the Chinese visa application for myself it asks where the passport was issued. Would this just be USA or does it have to be specifric? Also it asks who the inviter is in China. Since my wife lives here most of the time but travels back to China for a few months each year, and has a residence there I assume it still can't be her? If so her parents? Sorry. Thanks! Marc
  23. I guess I'll call NVC on this one. Tried calling yesterday and the office was closed due to the weather. But it seems like sending in the 864 from my wife and the 864A from me would be safe. It actually says this on the NVC web site. Also on a couple sites from law offices. If the Petitioners income isn't sufficient then the 864A needs to be filled out. But there, to me, is a gray area when it comes to what/who is a joint sponsor or household member. I read one place where it says that only siblings, parents, children can be household members. Doesn't say anything about a spouse being able to be deemed a household member. Question though. What is an 'OP'?
  24. Well...this would make it far easier filing one I-864. We have filed jointly since she got here for the past 2 years. So you guys disagree on what needs to be filed though. What are your thoughts.
  25. Just 1040's aren't enough? Need to have W2s? So I'd need to do the 864A as a household member and not a joint sponsor? Sorry, I know I'm making this too confusing (for me) but I just want to make sure we do this right.
