  1. Wife and I have been talking about all possibilities for our future. One would be that when I retire, I move to China. WHat is the process? I read where you can get an L visa and renew it many times, but then also saw where you can not work. I would be doing my art which I would sell so I would assume it would be considered work. But would want to retain my US citizenship because of Social Security, although I have other retirements accounts. Any experts in this subject weighing in would be appreciated, THANKS!!
  2. Thanks! One more question (amazing huh...it's always one more question HA) When my wife's daughter comes to the USA, green card processing fee will of course have been paid, will she need biometrics also after she enters the USA?
  3. Thanks Dan! UK visa website is just about as bad as the one through CGI!! It's suggesting that a Chinese national green card holder in the USA needs biometrics to apply for the visa to the UK. But the links they supply does not show where we would go do that. I'm assuming Milwaukee since we're in WI.
  4. Thanks! We have yet to make exact plans for when she's coming to the USA. She has a few things to finish up there in Chengdu and then she'll be coming over. Then the way it sounds...we'll all be going to England for the graduation. Which brings me to this. Does the wife need a visa? And her daughter already has a visa for England. If she comes to the USA and gets the green card, will it be a different visa? Or as I thought I read, only thing that dictates the need for a visa in England is what nationality you are.
  5. Thanks Dan!! "A# may be noted on USCIS approval notice next to her name." Is this something we'll get? I've never seen an A# on any of the documents. Wife has one, but never seen one for her daughter.
  6. Visa has been approved. They said it will be sent to my wife's daughter within the next 2 weeks. They say the visa fee needs to be paid before she leaves for the USA. I'm assuming the papers they send her will have the A# and the Department of State (DOS) Case ID number so I can pay this? Immigration visa (F2A) Also, what do we need to go through to get her green card? She needs to go back to London in November for her graduation. Just trying to plan a little ahead and see if possible or...have her wait to come to the USA after she goes through the graduation. As I understand it you have 6 months to enter the country. As always, more questions, but greatly and deeply appreciate all the help you have all given us! Marc
  7. Thanks everyone! When I went in to ceac and was checking on the visa process, it would always say it was in "Administrative Processing". Today I went in and it said "ISSUED"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can understand how much stress was lifted off ourt shoulders when we saw this.
  8. Proabaly get the same type of response that I got when I sent a letter to Obama. Yes they know the immigration process is screwed up and sorry. They're working on it.
  9. YEHAAAA!!!! As all of you know, it's been a long and stressful road for us to get my wife's daughter her visa. Had the K2 but because of our attorney's misrepresentation, that opportunity was lost. So went through the whole Immigration visa deal. The Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) did come into play, which I was betting there was no way as so many people said it wouldn't, and they gave her the visa!!!! Said because of the problems with the crash of their system it would be sent to her in about 2 weeks. So persistance and hope and prayer does help, even though at some times we've been wanting to just throw up our arms in defeat. Just wanted to thank everyone on here that put up with all my questions. You all for sure helped a ton and we "THANK YOU!" for that. To finish up, all I can say is that if you're presistant and keep at it, even though it seems the system is flawed with huge delays and problems, it is possible for good things to come out of all of it if you hang in there. Have a great day and GOD BLESS!! Rosie, Ashley and Marc
  10. Wife talked with people in Guangzhou (that are in the know) and they said interviews had not been affected by the problems. Just that if a visa was issued that it would be longer wait than normal to get your hands on it.
  11. Of course...after all we have had to go through to get to this spot in this process...she will be there for the interview.
  12. Does anyone know if this is causes delays in the visa interview process or just issuing visas. My wife's daughter is waiting in Guangzhou now and tomorrow her interview is scheduled at 7:45AM. We haven't been able to find out one thing about interviews. Anyone know or have heard anything?
  13. Marc, you might try asking the consulate through their web form to see if they're releasing any information on this - you have access to it, we do not. I would hope it would be a matter of day(s) at the most, and that things would be back to the normal delay by Monday. If they would respond quickly or ever...I'd do that. Have sent numerous emails to numerous entities related to all of this (where the visa process is or please update the file) and 99% of the time get canned responses that aren't true. Wife will call consulate on Monday although I'm thinking they're probably going to be or already are so swamped with questions it might be hard to get through. I heard of one couple through an associate here at my company that went to China to adopt 2 kids, when they went to get the visas for them couldn't and they missed their flights and are now stuck in China waiting for something to happen with limited funds to deal with the delays. Also, the flights in China right now are smoked. Wife and daughter flew from Chengdu and a normal less than 2 hour flight took them 8 hours! Supposedly the military is doing some type of exercise and demanded that all commercial airlines reduce the number of their normal flights to 25% of their norm!
  14. When I go to ceac it still says that my wife's daughters case is under 'Administrative Processing'. We have the P4 Interview letter, was able to set the passport pickup location, and then when you go a little further into ustraveldocs.com and enter her case number, it says it's not found...and to be patient! I've emailed them numerous times. Each time they say to log back in and the case has been updated. NADA! Now it seems the only thing they can do is wait until Monday to call the consulate and see what's going on and if her interview date/time is still valid. Calling ustraveldos only gets the message that they don't work on the weekend. I think the way our government handles visas for family members is a travesty. There is no concern for how it affects families and them being together in a reasonable amount of processing time. Nor is there much of any concern by any governmant agency I've dealt with that the people you talk with really gives a rats arse. Many times I've called ustraveldocs and the people there rush you so much that when it gets to the end of your 2 - 3 minutes they allow for each call (had a rep tell me this is how much they're allowed to speak to each person) that they basically about hang up on you. I just hope everything works out. So much stress and worrying by everyone involved with trying to go through any visa process with our government. Hope everyone has a great day!
  15. Thanks Dan. You would think someone on here might weigh in on this that has had some experience since this happened, even though it's pretty recently. My real question...is this going to delay interview dates, no matter when it's resolved. Or just, yes they're giving interviews and decisions but the actual visa cannot be issued and will be delayed. Our problem is that my wife and daughter (and my wifes sister too) are in Guangzhou now. Lots of additional expenses if they have to fly back to Chengdu and then back to Guangzhou and then back to Chengdu and then the wife to the USA. Of course, I'm sure the government will reimburse everyone that's had additional expenses because of them...right? ha ha
  16. My wife said that on the news they are telling everyone that for some reason all computers are down in the consulates and no visas can be issued?? They're in Guangzhou right now and did the medical exam and are waiting now for her interview on July 29th. Anyone know what's going on??
  17. Thanks Dan! We'll have one anyway...just in case. All she's done is gone to school and had a few internships. Another question though...and sorry I ask so many but since I will not use an immigration attorney I'm trying to make sure everything is in line before she goes for the interview. On the ceac.state.gov website where you can check the status of the visa it says: "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks." Is this normal? Already have the interview date/time. Guangzhou has never contacted us with any information (P4 letter came from NVC). Go in to ustraveldocs.com and it says her case number cannot be found. Just nervous that everything does not seem to be as it should be.
  18. To update...was able to set the passport pickup location but it still says that her case number cannot be found. Have sent many emails and called so many times to ustraveldocs.com. But it seems nothing ever happens. Last time I called they said they would call and get it resolved in 24 - 48 hours. Been about a week and nothing. I guess we have the P4 Interviw Appointment letter stating our interview time and date. What else can we do but go when the letter says to go, have everything ready and hope for the best. The bummer of all of this is just because we were...I guess nieve...we believed our 'immigration' attorney about the K2. I should've studied more on my own but I guess you think that when an attorney tells you he's had 100% success on over 100 visa cases...he sort of knows what he's talking about. And you would sure think also that if such a thing would happen and a family was not allowed to be together for possibly a decade because of misrepresentation and the mistake of an attorney, that the US government would step in and make it right. Go figure.
  19. My wife's daughter will be attending her interview in Guangzhou end of this month. As I study, it seems there is very little specific information about a daughter/son immigrating to the USA. It's all lumped into 'immigration visas'. Question. Is she required to give a resume? It says: RESUME: Provide a detailed resume (in both Chinese and English), including all professional and educational history. Please be sure to include the following information: A complete list of all of your employers and all specific job responsibilities and projectsAny publications you have written. Note titles, descriptions and dates of all publications. Be as comprehensive as possible.A list of all foreign destinations visited, including dates and purpose of travel.A work plan explaining where the applicant(s) will seek employment after immigrating to the United States. She is looking to visit some universities in the states and possibly continue her education. No concrete plans have been made. Thanks!
  20. Says "The Case ID that you have entered cannot be found. [GZO**********]" One of the emails they sent says they are in 'pre-interview processing'. And that when an interview date/time can be sent they will let us know. But we already got the P4 letter from NVC that set the date!!! But GUZ is basically saying that you can not set a date/time until they tell you that you can. Has anyone else had this happen? You get the P4 letter setting the time and date but GUZ doesn't have it in their system???
  21. So how were you able to do this?? Where did you go specifically to do this? What link?
  22. She'll give them her passport at the interview, but they are requiring us to set a place where the passport is picked up BEFORE the interview. So far we can't do this. zeven though the interview time/date has been set.
  23. Sorry but ya lost me (sometimes easy to do with this process). What do you mean it'll become obvious what happens here soon? We'll stick with the P4 they sent us stating our interview date, but it still will not allow us to set up the pickup location through ustraveldocs.com. Once they get done with the "pre-interviewing process" will that option become live on the web site and allow us to do this? I try calling NVC and all they say is to complete Step 3 - Step 7, but it never allows us to go anyplace to do such a thing.
  24. Simply have her go to the interview at the designated time - follow ALL instructions that you receive. This appears to simply be a generic canned response. What did the USTraveldocs.com people tell you about setting up a pick-up location? What have others experienced after their interview was scheduled by NVC? I haven't called the ustraveldocs people, except to call NVC. They always tell me to go to that web site and simply fill in Step 3 - Step 7...which is nowhere to be found! I can't access it because...it's not there for me to see.
  25. So how 'government' is this!! We have a letter from NVC that designated my wife's daughters interview time. We tried to set up the pick up for her passport/visa after the interview. Could not. So I sent an email to GUZ to see if they could shed some light on why. Here's their response. "We have received your case from the National Visa Center and it is currently undergoing pre-interview processing. As soon as the pre-interview processing is complete, we will contact you with detailed instructions on scheduling an interview through the visa application service website http://ustraveldocs.com, which is maintained by our authorized partner." Sooooo...I'm assuming, which is all a person can do, that the interview date NVC gave us is not going to be legit!? If we have to choose one, which is what they're telling us, I would sure think that this date will already be taken by the time GUZ gives us 'detailed instructions'. Has anyone else had situations come up like this or are we just lucky.
