  1. just called the BCIS and a lady told me I can't file I-485 before the I-130 is not been approved yet... but from http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/public.../life081401.htm it says, "To obtain immigrant status --once in the United States -- a K-3 nonimmigrant must file a Form I-485 (Application for Adjustment to Permanent Residence). ..." now, i am totally confused...

  3. 1. I just put "None" there; 3. I found out it's the red number on the bottom of visa. source: http://britishexpats.com/arch/57/2002/4/107372 4c. should be $255. still not sure about rest yet..
  4. I am filling out the I-485 form and questions just keeps popping up. Joseph's message is very very helpful. However, i am still have several questions. My wife is K-3 visa. 1. she doesn't have SSN yet, should I put "None" there? 2. Application Type.., I am not very sure which one to pick? 3. Nonimmigrant visa number; There is a control number on top right corner of her K-3 visa and another number in red on the center. 4. on evidence part: a. Medical examination; it states for K-1 visa, need to submit a vaccination supplement. same for K-3?? b. Evidence of eligibility; which one should i take? c. the Fee. it states it should be $220+25(finger print). Thank you
  5. Great topic, Joseph. I was just filling out this form right now.
  6. My wife finally arrived last week. Today i took her to get her Social Security Number, but told i have to apply work permit before apply SSN!!! Anyone has any experience on this? Thanks
  7. Just picked her up at airport, I am so happy now.
  8. I called some immigration lawyers before applying K-3. They all suggested K-1 visa. I think the reason is they always process K-1 visa and have less experience with K-3. I still chose K-3 visa because my wife wanted to get married first. It turned out fine.
  9. people like those made our visa process slow... when my wife went to interview, she met one girl from wuhan(same city with my wife). she even told my wife, she's marrying the guy for visa only... and she even passed the interview...
  10. My wife will be here in the end of july. now, besides cleaning the house, i have to buy makeup and lotions for her. before that, i have no idea how expensive is lancome, estee lauder, and .... anyway, i bought all those on line, it's much cheaper than the department stores.
  11. try GZ's new email system instead. my wife called GZ 3 days in a row and not went through. i emailed them and got a reply next day. i suggest you to try both together. good luck.
  12. sorry to hear this sad news. i found if beneficial speaks good english, it's much easier to pass the interview.
  13. Congratulations!!! It's my first time to see both couple are joined CFL. The thing like 'honey' will appear more often in here. kind of making me jealous a little and remind me when i was the only one alone in my friend's party few month ago.. Big Congratulations and hope you 2 a happy life!!
  14. The story itself scared me since i was not with my wife on her interview and have no clue what that envelop looks like. All i told to my wife is not to open it. I think GZ should at least print the name or case # on it, but i'll call my wife to confirm tonight. On Charlotte's first question, i thought the 2003 means the I129 approved receipt was received by GZ on year 2003. I could be wrong cause i filed K-3 for my wife. I filed on Oct, 2002 and our case # is beginning with GZ2003. anyway, this is the first time i heard such a thing of given the wrong package and the lady who post the story is a newbie. so, i choose to ignore it and not tell this story to my wife(women are curious).
  15. Congratulations!!! Good luck on the interview date!! The china's mail system is not very good. the GZ send p4 to my wife on June 4 and my wife received it(we thought it lost) in July 5. Her interview is on June 26!! It's good thing we call GZ every week, otherwise we would miss it. Again, Congratulations!!
  16. good news. Congratulations!!! btw, what do u mean by "I hope to be teaching English in America in the fall"? does all the Americans speak english?
  17. Lucky you. To make sure, send GZ another email to check your interview date next week.
  18. wow, tomorrow. good for you. have you cleaned your house yet? i booked my wife's flight on july 31. still have to wait another month before i can see her. is there any additional paper she need to bring with her on the flight?
  19. Thanks, everyone. the interview was so easy, so don't sweat on it. the questions the interview officer asked her are: how did u 2 meet? how did u keep in touch? did he visit you after u 2 married? (which i didn't)
  20. Just called my wife, great news, she passed the interview and she'll pick the visa up at 4pm. I am relaxed now... need to clean my house now. anyway, the interview last only 3min and the interview officer only asked her 2 questions and looked at 2 of our 50pics. our stack of email printout, phone logs are useless in this case. however, i still suggest to prepare as much evidence as possible. good luck to all!!
