  1. Aloha from Hawaii, When I was in Hangzhou in October I went to a health fair in the middle of town. Among the health products was the Chinese equivalent of Slim Fast. It was called Slim Quick. Many quick changes in China. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  2. Aloha from Hawaii, I will fess up. I am probably the oldest person in this forum. I will make 60 this year. Getting close to SS time. I wish I could say that in the USA children are taught to be independent but it is not true. Our Liberal political and legal system has raised the age of childhood to 21. People up to21 with drug and anti social problems are a youth statistic. Our Liberal public education system is placing a greater emphasis on self esteem than skills. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  3. Aloha from Hawaii, I suspect that Feinstein and Boxer are part of the problem. Estimated processing time at Laguna Ninguel is 825 days. 825 days if you were not shredded. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  4. Aloha from Hawaii, The opposition is to ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Illegal immigrants are a problem because they cannot get high paying legal jobs. High pay is available in illegal professions such as drug traffic. The distinction between legal and illegal is deliberately ignored by politico's who want to keep legal Chinese immigrants out. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  5. Aloha P.J. I will be happy to help with the culture part of the forum. Honolulu is a mix of many cultures and a good place to learn about the adaptation to life in the USA. Also I have Chinese relatives and friends who observe Chinese customs. However, Asian customs that are preserved in Honolulu are from the time of the first immigrants to Honolulu. There a few differences but I have spent some time in China to learn about the changes. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  6. Aloha Mick, Since when did an Irish man need an excuse to drink? The Irish only drink on week ends, thursday to wednesday. Thanks Owen for what you wrote. It reminds me of a speach made by John Wayne. He said that we are all Americans and a hyphenated American is not an American. We have different bckgrounds and preferences but we are all just Americans. The hyphens are tools for politico's to divide us. Bad politics uses wealth and ethnic origin to create a class war for political gain. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  7. Aloha Mick. If you only have to teach cowboy idioms you have it easy. When you live in a multi ethnic state you have common idioms in other languages as well. To compound langage problems, her weak english is more understandable than half of the people born and raised here. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  8. Aloha Sister Charlotte, Congratulations, Also a wish for a long and happy life for both of you. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  9. Aloha from Hawaii, Keep the good news coming. Do not forget us after you settle down. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  10. Aloha Xiao Hua, Aloha is a univeral greeting in the Hawaiian language. It means hi or bye bye. Feel free to practice your english on us. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  11. Aloha from Hawaii, It is good to see visas issued. I hope that my wife's vbisa is not far behind. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  12. Aloha from Hawaii, Congrats and now I can go back to breathing again. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  13. Aloha to Tex, I will be in Beijing in the second week of March. Let me what I can do from there. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  14. Aloha from Hawaii, Because all of us are separated by thousands of miles but united in the hope for a soul mate. All of us have felt the pain of a divorce, relationships that did not work out or the long search for Mr./Mrs. Right. In addition we endure the separation forced upon us by the INS. At supper tonight all of us should raise a glass to P.J.. His presence here shows strength in his character that deserves a proper reward. Let us all ask in our oun way for a soul mate for P.J. soon. A toast to P.J.. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  15. Hi Kate, You are very observant and it is very interseting. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  16. Thanks Bobzy, Interesting and scary read. However, Gold Diggers come from everywhere. Thanks for the warning signs that can be applied to any marriage. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  17. Aloha from Hawaii, Welcome back and good luck. I hope it is the long awaited envelope. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  18. Hi P.J. Hang in there good buddy. I made my leap of faith seventeen months ago. I am still waiting for P4. I only hope that you will not have to wait as long as I have. I am pushing 60. You have a lot of friends here who are pulling for you. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  19. Aloha from Hawaii, I travel on JAL. The service in economy is the same as in first class. You have a choice of a Western or Japanese meal. A hot towel to wash your hands and face before eating. Snacks, beer, sake, soft drinks, juice or water at any time. You can also practice eating with chop sticks. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  20. Aloha from Hawaii, Great work. We need all of the coverage we can get. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  21. Aloha from Hawaii, I agree with SBS. There is no contract in life that insures all relationships will be good. Any marriage is a leap of faith. To marry your own kind is not an assurance of a safe marriage. I did all of the right things. I lived with her parents for two weeks, met her married siblings and nephews. However, I met all of these people after we were married. Also the selection was not one sided. I was asked 101 questions by a chief of police. A family representitive from her mother's side. I passed the test. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  22. Aloha from Hawaii, I forgot to mention going out of Pudong ( Shanghai ). I was charged for an exit customs inspection and a 90RMB airport beautification fee. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  23. Aloha from Hawaii, No problem with US Dollars at the airport. You can buy a hot dog and a coke with US Dollars in the airport. You will see signs posted by the shops that will take the US currency. It will be better to use USD so you use exactly what you need unless you plan to carry Yen back for any reason. The airport does shut down for the night and it is boring with nothing to see or do. Osaka is a better place to stay overnight. There is a hotel a short walk away. There is a covered pedestrian overpass from the airport to the hotel. Myles aka Annakuen'GG P.S. The hot dogs are terrible.
  24. Hi Bob & Lili, I am turning green with envy. Even with an honest ans serious catch up at GZ I will most likely have my wife come in on an IR instead of a CR visa. We have been apart too long and I will go to Beijing on March 6. I hope there will be some snow when I get there. That will be a first for me. No snow in Honolulu. I intend to stay in touch with 001.com. My wife can help the Chinese women adjust to the USA and make the others turn green. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
  25. Aloha from Hawaii, That is a very deep hurt. I pray that you will be able to rebound soon and have better luck with the next one. Myles aka Annakuen'GG
